Schools And Orphanages.

It may be a little late for this, but this only requires a small bit of work per major city. In 4.0, I think it would make sense to give the children an education. This would provide friend-making for the children, and would provide interesting school-like roleplay for both adults working at the school and the children attending. Also, most children (The majority of them being orphaned) are simply wandering the streets, having only the simple small talk here or there with the people, but schools provide a large variety for child characters.

Now onto orphanages. I remember in Anthos there was an orphanage near the late Cloud Temple. And as an orphaned child character, I was delighted to see this. There was nearly always someone, if it be a kid, or one of the workers. People were adopting kids, it was great. I really enjoyed playing as a character in this orphanage, it provided some really fun roleplay. Then, over the next few weeks, for whatever reason people decided to attack the orphanage all the time, and it was eventually relocated to a really weird location and everyone kinda left. I propose that there should be an orphanage right near the spawn and schools in capital cities.

Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Thanks.

I don't mind the idea if someone does it, but I don't think there are that many child characters that would go to a school or orphanage, let alone have one in each city. An orphanage is a good idea though, and perhaps it would be better to merge the school with the orphanage if most child characters are orphans.

I don't think there's enough children for schools and or orphanages. Just my opinion on your idea.

Yeah, this is a good idea.

You'd be quite surprised.

Not enough orphans or people who want to be orphans, not enough people who are active to run the orphanage, nice idea, wont work. We would need a hell of a lot more active members to make schools and orphanages function properly

I am not going to school. No sirree. :P

I play this game to be a knight or a mage, not a student, which I am IRL.

(If it's formed in RP it could be a solid idea, you just need enough people to attend/be a part of the RP atmosphere. Most schools go under for the reason stated above.)

It is the same as the idea of jail. Brilliant idea for the world, fits great, solves lots of gaps in our stories from what can and cannot be roleplayed in a practical sense. But if people aren't going to put in the time to do it then it just won't happen.

The way for a school/orphanage to work is the same way that inns that work properly and magic schools and higher education institutions that did more than make a forum post to actually have classes: one person who pushes and pushes and pushes and has a presence online in that spot every day for hours.

There was once some mention about Elves going to school in Old Laurelin and that it was just an accepted part of life and was written into many backstories. But I don't think that school ever existed. Would be great if they did though.

I was headmaster for awhile, it existed, but few actually went to the events we hosted, then the antagonist appeared and I got distracted and fired. TheEpicFiend and I were in charge of it, it died when the conclave killed Malinor.

The people who play children would rather go on grandiose adventures than RP boring school stuff. Who's to blame them? Even orphanages seem to be useless, because nobody needs a home on this server per se, they can just build one from scratch.
