Aftermath II: A Desperate Climb

OOC: I'll keep this short and sweet, promise. Also if you guys want to make pop. higher for the sake of doing things, we can do it if we all pretty much agree on that. I'm definitely going to do events periodically to increase population though.

You control the destiny of mankind's descendants. Should you fail to maintain your colony and provide for your people then you may very well doom mankind to extinction.

Nation name: Republic of Tres

Population: 450

Diplomatic actions:

-Enlarged farms

-Tried to establish contact with other human nations

The Republic of Tres was a nation of proud people, direct descendants from the Federal colonists. They had come upon the Esperanza-1, a frigate class ship built by the north american branch of Star bound Corporation. Taking 10 years worth or supplies and little else, they set out into the great unknown, heading for a moon in the orbit of Jupiter. Yet, due to some unforeseeable engine problem, they were forced to make an emergency landing on Mars. The colonists watched as other space ships made it across the skies, headed for distant planets and places to live.

The rocky and barren terrain of Mars was in many ways similar to the northern deserts of Central America from where most of them came. They adapted to their habitat, and two settlements rose. The first was relatively small, located on some heights overlooking the cliffs located on the North Pole of the dusty planet and was named Gloria. Having brought some mining equipment onboard Esperanza-1, they drilled into the bluffs around the central plateau and eventually hit water under some ice caps. A large cavern system ran along the bottom and sides of the cliffs, cut by relatively big rivers. On the banks of the largest river (Cuatlan), they established the main residence of Victoria, home to the largest portion of the population. Air was supplied by the centralized pumps which ventilated the underground settlement, which was sealed off by three layers of airtight doors, and one along a secret exit.

At the center of Victoria, in the chamber where iron was first struck and found, a large vault room was built. It contained some of the few things that reminded the settlers of Madre Terra, and was closely watched. It included four books, a canister of some strange fluid, a crucifix, and DVD with a player.

The majority of sustenance for the colony came from Mai2, a variant of corn specifically engineered to have extra durability, at the cost of difficulty to grow and less nutrients. Meat came mostly from large rats which had been brought aboard the vessel and had evolved on Mars in the underground caverns, specifically made to contain and nurture the animals.

The protection is provided by a communal defense force made up of the male members of society. The officers are all important members of society, with the "army" only having 14 permanent members. They are armed with weapons manufactured in the medium sized foundry in Victoria. The weapons are rifles modified for low gravity combat, using a secondary chamber to increase the explosive force that propels the bullet, and fire slightly elongated metal bullets, made to tear through flesh and gravely wound. Each citizen soldier is also equipped with two small javelinike darts, useful for throwing and stabbing. Two medium mortars are kept by the defense force, as well as 6 rover vehicles capable of transporting a total of 130 men in all. The navy was made up of the Esperanza-1, which had been modified with a turret. What was really intriguing are the seven holes spread along the perimeter and center of the surface, each equipped with eight explosive shells made to shoot down vessels close in the atmosphere. The problem was that only the one in Gloria was constantly manned, the rest would have to be manned by trained operators at the outbreak of conflict.

The Consul and General, dual leaders of the Republic, both agree that it was time to look for other life. A message is transmitted in Spanish, English, and German, having been written using one of the books in the vault. It would state:

"-Hello, fellow --umans and survivors. We seek to establish peaceful connections with tho--- who may still be aliv--. Our ancestors speak of several starshi-- flying to all corners of th-- solar system. If anyon--- can hear --is message, please resp--. The Dual Leaders of Tres-"

"Sir I'm afraid that the message will be slightly scrambled, but hopefully others will be able to understand it."

A dark skinned man with a large mustache puts his hand on the shoulder of the comm operator, waiting before speaking:

"Send the message two more times, then be on the lookout for a response. Its time the people of Terra find each other again, come get me if you hear anything. I'll probably be in a meeting with the Consul, he has plans on enlarging the Mai2 farms."

The uniformed man exits, tracing the hard surface of the cavern's rock with his hand, a smile creeping across his face as he thinks of his peoples' accomplishments. But there was more work to do...

Nation Name:  United Monarchy of Britain.

Mod approved Populaton: 150.

Brief History of the United Monarchy of Britain

A small society, dedicated to the political methods of old and fueled by some of the wealthiest british families pondered a scheme of survival. As the first set of colonists set off into the final frontier the society used this minor section of time before the fist destroyed the remaining space ports to initiate their plan, using their large amounts of money and influence around the small island to get themselves a vessel, launching into space shortly behind the first wave of colonists.

The society, renaming themselves to the ‘United Monarchy of Britain’ soon ventured space looking for a settling ground, led by Daniel Thompson, the self designated ‘King’ of the vessel they followed the basic principles of a Monarchy, with the family of Thompson forever planning to remain at the top of the political chain. The minor amount of 75 aboard the ship were specifically selected for their beliefs and abilities, each fully supporting the concept of the Monarchy and some even leaving their families behind to fulfil a purpose aboard the ship. However, due to this specific process very little lower class citizens were selected and instead the space reserved for scientists, engineers, navigators etc. A few militaristic figures were allowed onto the ship, yet their abilities hindered by the lack of troops, the ship avoided combat upon it’s travels.

After a few months of travelling, the ships main reactor began to cause issues. The power along the ship was disrupted and only major systems were left active, engines and such lacked the necessary power to continue to their ideal destination and soon they found themselves colliding with a large asteroid, Vesta. The collision only damaged the ship further, leaving it inoperable. In a last ditch attempt to save the remaining 70 they set up base upon this asteroid, yet, despite it only intending to be a temporary location they found themselves easily settling upon the surface of the large rock, and thus they ignored prior plans and allowed themselves to expand and thrive upon Vesta.

The appearance of the U.M.B would be an odd mixture of modern materials and designs, with traditional british architecture and clothing. Royalty would commonly be seen wearing golden cloaks, with blue trims and anybody of significant power would too be seen in this colour. The limited number of security aboard the ship are significantly supplied being offered the most recent of technologies, this is to help reduce the number of security needed and therefore allow for more roles within farming etc.

Jack Thompson, great grandson to the original founder Daniel found himself atop his throne. The walls lined with gold, blue and red gave the room a royal image despite it’s outside appearance. Towards his left and right two large windows sat, lighting around the outside giving the false image of sunlight during darkened periods despite the threatening image of space through the clear glass.  The United Monarchy always strived for appearance, the remaining ships interior following a similar theme. Jack often considered if this hindered the small civilisation, focusing too much on appearance had began to cause issues for Monarchy. Food supplies struggled to feed the growing population, and housing was becoming sparse for the now population of 156, figures showing 105 were fit for work whilst the others were either children or critically ill. Despite his worry, Jack had been taught during his childhood to never show negative emotion, the many below him looked to him as if he was god, following and believing his every word. Little did they know they were merely pawns, following a system designed to keep them in place and not willing to disobey. The perfect society, running without hinderance of rebeliance or lack of motivation. Even the schooling system was designed to make the children believe in these schemes.

throne_room_by_zoriy-d4qp2wi.jpg

Soon several men walked inside, each wearing similar outfits of a black underlay with gold and blue cloaks upon the outside.

“Your Majesty.”  One speaks, tone stern and formal as his dips his head. Soon the others follow, each individually bowing their head to the young man that sat atop the throne. Jack motions with his hand, the lords returning to their designated seats as one remains standing he removes a small device from his pocket, a holographic projection appearing as it displays rather large amounts of statistics and figures. “We’re here to discuss expansion, your majesty. Our population is crammed within the housing district, and our biospheres are struggling to produce enough food to feed even the smallest children.” Jack stands, his cape remaining against the seat as his boots clank against the metallic flooring, the man steps aside as Jack examines the many details, focusing on a few.

20.56 tons of acrylic glass.

27.25 tons of raw iron.

12.6 days of food reserve.

156 living citizens aboard.

“Building supplies are low.” The king states, turning towards the man.

“Indeed, your majesty.” The man replies.

“Using the remaining acrylic glass for two new biospheres, send off the mining vessels towards nearby asteroids in search of iron to be used to reinforce the new biospheres.. Inform Lord Wilson about these plans and give him adequate time to set up workers for these biospheres.” With a brief sigh, the king ends his short speech.

“And the housing situation?” The man asks, hands shifting behind his back.

Jack looks towards the man, offering him a stern expression. “Ignore it. We cannot handle both problems, food is more urgent. To combat a potential drop of morale I’ll make a visit to the housing district within the week.. A small speech and they’ll understand..”

Despite an expression of concern, the man replies with confidence. “Very well, Your Majesty.” With a final bow of his head, he would depart and the few sitting within the room following.

Round Up + Diplomatic Actions

- The Monarchy currently has issues with food and housing, alongside struggling to building supplies due to large amounts of time dedicated to interior appearance.

- The King has ordered the construction of 2 new biospheres to grow crops, these will sit alongside the currently operated 3. The large amount of supplies needed will be mined from nearby asteroids.

- Population continues to grow, yet overpopulation means less and less space is available.. Action will be needed soon.

- Diplomatic Actions: Very little happening currently, the Monarchy would continue to attempt to remain hidden from the other factions and avoid communication.

Star Vikings:

-------------------

Introduction

( In the Beginning...

Billionaire Tyler Warden was the man who funded this project. He poured in 44 billion dollars into it, and let it grow. However, he couldn't make it. He had a brain tumor, and would only be able to live for another 6 months. Instead of using up valuable supplies, he let his son take a bunch of essential people (scientists, billionaires, doctors) and head into the final frontier. The Star Vikings spent years and years adrift in Space. They finally reached close to the end of the Solar System, far away from the Sun's warming heat. Near Jupiter, they found out they were at half-fuel. In case they wanted to turn back to Earth one day, they landed their ship on Jupiters' moon Ganymede and began colonizing it. )

The Ship they were in was very large and had an internal greenhouse to recycle oxygen in the ship. However, plants slowly withered away from malnutrition and Oxygen levels started to drop. Eventually, the Vikings were forced out of their ship to check our the realm around them. Ganymede has remnants of mineral rich meteros that batter the landscape. The crew quickly began to collect samples to see if it contained life and/or was ready for consumption.

Using their very, very limited mineral and building reserves they started construction of a biosphere to allow the plants to grow. They drained all of their building reserves and started construction of a building to feed and house the mighty population. Oxygen from the vegetation is taken and entered into the building in careful amounts, the climate inside being roughly 26% oxygen and 74% nitrogen/carbon-dioxide. Able to create fire, they light lamps throughout the shelter in order to help iluminate the dark world.

Vers Monarchial Governate of Ganymede

Year 300 of the Calendar of the Northern Storm

the_unitarian_space_empire__13722.jpg

MOD APPROVED POPULATION:

400

History:

The Vers Monarchial Governate of Ganymede, or Vers, was the second European colonial ship to be launched, and originally contained three Swedish and one Norwegian family. It is a society that has enforced ruthless familial laws that allowed for the colony's continued survival. Once they had touched down on Ganymede, the eldest of one of the Swedish families proved his worth through quickly administrating the jobs of all 35 people and making sure that the colony would survive. Food was rationed and ranks were placed based on merit. Since its founding, Vers has had only two people bred for leadership (the apparent and a backup) and has built two new spheres. Ganymede's unique dual magnetic field has resulted in the nation having almost zero radiation.

Sweden had, after hearing that the Bismarck was launched by Germany, launched as much of their steel, acrylic and seeds as was safe at Ganymede after the ship that their culture used. The ship they used to arrive held archives, oxygen recyclers, glass, steel, and food and farming supplies. It lacked, however, schematics to any weaponry but basic pistols and rifles. It was believed to be one of the larger ships used, and everything from the engines to the hull were used to save material. The colony also lacks a good stockpile of rare earth metals other than copper, and so the only computing done at all is in the capital's command tower.

Future-proof%20control%20rooms.jpg?mh=22

"Good morning sir. Radiation is at 1% of total acceptable amount. The Bridge and Infinity Outpost have checked in with 96%. Power generation is at 87% possible, with hydrogen stores at 72%. Current food stockpile is expected to last 13 more days, and the next harvest will be in 12. Oxygen levels are acceptable. Our functionality is 94%. The electromagnetic spacecraft is about 83% complete, but requires us to start sending power to its batteries. Building supplies are enough to build seven more sectors and upkeep for another three decades in addition."

"Very well, start using an eighth of the hydrogen stores for batteries for the spacecraft."

President-King Albert yawned as he stood in the circular command center of the control room overlooking Vers City. The massive biosphere was home to three hundred people, many either oxygen collectors, biomatter workers, or students. It, however, was only about half full, for reasons later explained. Food had not been a real problem for some time, and the iron veins found in the mineral pockets in Ganymede's dark spots had allowed the biosphere to gradually attach new sectors. Inside may be a near paradise, but he and his advisors knew that Ganymede was still the same wasteland their ancestors had landed on 300 years ago. The buildings were cut-and-dry, with a spartan attention to materials. Each house was only two or three rooms, and had one or two windows. There was no ambient lighting, no waste, and the people had been taught to expect this. The biosphere, as a result, was only half filled with the city itself, the other half home to a large amount of plants and farms used for the city's various necessities. Schools taught of the strength of Vers and its greatness, and the colorless world they lived in was only offset by the yellow-on-blue flags and the greenery of the biomatter sectors. To make sure the population didn't die out, strict homosexuality and child laws had been established around 200 years previous and the people had been told that any violation would result in being forced by the government. They had followed this strict code for their entire lives, and were taught not to question it. Only five knew that the reason for this was that the original colonists had hoped to one day return to Earth, a hope that had long since died out. His thinking was cut off by an operator's voice.

"Sir, The Bridge has contacted us. The vein they used is, they think, about halfway out."

Albert pondered this for a moment, then responded,

"Tell them to cut production and search for new veins."

The military run colony, properly named Colony 204 sits under the careful watch of Whiskey Company.

Major Guiliano, acting Military Governor of Colony 204 stands in the command tower, looking out the window over the small American settlement.

"Major Guiliano, sir?" A young Sergeant First Class spoke. "The citizen biospheres perimeters has been patrolled again. No sign of any breaches. I'm sending the patrol to go patrol the farm perimeter for any breaches."

The Major nods, turning to face the Sergeant.

"Sergeant Winslow, I need you to send two squads out to the farms, along with the patrol, to guard the men while they expand the farms. The granary has been stolen from twice this week... I want a squad posted there every night from now on, as well."

Sergeant Winslow nods, before moving off to carry out his orders.

The Major moves inwards, to the radio operator.

"Operator. I want you to keep trying to make contact with the other moons. Keep goin' 'till sundown."

The operator nods, and begins to transmit the message, over and over, until it is responded to.

"This is Colony 204, if there is anyone listening, please respond."

Meanwhile, down in the town, a large group of 50 citizens go off to help expand the farms, while 25 carpenters continue building housing and storage. Women work alongside the men, whilst the children are being taught by the oldest citizens about math and science.

The people look far from happy, but not depressed. Many are simply tired from the days of hard labor, and do not sleep well, worried about food. Five farmers request permission to the small military biosphere, and are escorted to the command tower.

"M-Major Guiliano, sir..." The leader of the farmers begins, " We have been workin' the farms hardest, and watchin' the granaries longest..." He pauses, and takes an almost laborious breath. "Sir, we request permanent jobs at farm, as caretakers and guards of it, day and night. We would only need to borrow a few contracters to help build a farmhouse..."

The Major thinks a moment, and after an assuring nod from Sergeant Winslow, the Major accepts their offer, and the construction of a farmhouse begins, taking 5 carpenters away from the civilian biosphere.

The farmers are given reminded of the way food is used:

"Only use the GE food until the organic foods are steadily growing. After that, they'll be kept preserved in the military biosphere for emergencies."

The farmers go off to build and grow, while the Major continues giving out miscellaneous orders throughout the day.

Summary:

-Farms beginning to be expanded. Permanent caretakers set.

Diplomatic Action: -Radio Transmission sent out to the other moons of Saturn, simply trying to make contact.

-Permanent Nocturnal Squad set in place to guard the granaries.

The Haven Of Isonoe

pirate.png

The settlement had started out as a simple gathering spot for pirates, thieves, tricksters, misfits, and exiles. As the population rose the need for an order came apparent. The adopted child of one of the billionares who had first entered space had come to be the Haven's leader. He instituted a basic government run by the Chief, him of course, and 5 Advisors. He made sure to keep a ledger of raids, scavenging runs, and junk missions. But now was a different age, the amount of settlers from the rock known as Earth had decreased. With these decrease came a decrease in scavengable wrecks as well as transports to ambush as they landed on the moon. A more steady resource and food supply was needed. Chief Ed began to order the construction of mines outside the main city. The city wasn't like the other human settlements that had been built in artificial air bubbles. It was outside, on the rock itself, but the denizens who needed air refilled at the various oxygen stations around the city, free of charge of course, and all linked to an underground oxygen farm. Above ground in an artificial air facility, fed from the oxygen farm as well, was being farmed for grains and other produce. Meat was only available to those who were descendants of the first generation, those who had wealth from the golden age of scavenging. The golden age was over, but scavenger culture still lived on. The farms were still being expanded with an ever growing amount of alien immigrants and the newest human generation.

Summary:

-325 Population

-Farms and mines to be expanded and renovated

Brief history:

The Ceri from the space of unknown, no-one knows where the origin home planet is, but in the history records a space colonial vessel launched to explore the depth of space. The purpose was to expand their territory to this solar system, although this was not successful. The vessel lands onto the dwarf planet, Ceres to find difficulty in their systems and asteroids damaging their hulls. The damage was heavy, they were unable to fix it due to their limited technology and equipment. They lost hope to able to come back home, so they did their objective was, to colonize this planet as their new home and expand the Ceri space. Two biospheres were developed onto the planet.

The Ceri overlord of Nexus Ion stood slient in middle of the meeting room with hands behind his back, in deep thought. The Ceri culture in Nexus Ion wear gowns and robes of multi-colours that contrast with their brown or green skin. The overlord Oo-loki wore a red with golden alien pattern cloak covering his entire body except the head.

An another Ceri entered the room to approach Oo-loki, the Ceri speaks blunt in their foreign language. "Our drills are still slowly piercing the icy mantle of the planet, no yet of any other riches has been found. Just water...We still getting standard amounts of water from the mantle under the planet's crest, food is stable for now. An expanding is requested.  Water vaporization at polar regions event could start very soon, this could boost our moral. So what are your orders?"

"As we lack resources for such expandation, we will have to dig down further into the water surface, and expand the farms into the housing section."

Life in Nexus Uion may consider odd for the human race, all Ceri are equal no-one gets better than anyone else. All have their desire and resource affordable housing for their families, a job they desire and a ration system.
The word began to spread to the miners and artietects of the Ceri, the progress will be life time to get all Nexus Ion down but the overlord hopes one section of area could expand the housing. The digging equipment of scoop and auger on the thin dusty outer crust of Ceres.

Diplomatic actions:

-Tried to establish communication with colony 204

-Began working on larger extractions of mineral ores

The sound of heavy drilling echoed across the underground city of Victoria, a new quarry had been opened up in the location of a large vein of iron and copper. The farmers of the colony also take advantage of the new space to enlarge the Mai2 irrigation systems, but safety precautions are taken to ensure the food is not compromised. It is expected that the enlargement of the cavern and efforts by the bio-scientist will result in an extra two square miles available to grow crops.

A training exercise is held, and the militia members practice fighting. Afterwards, the group runs through an obstacle course set outside on the bleak surface. Members are refreshed of their knowledge, and some learn to operate the anti air defense around the perimeter of Gloria. Women and children watch as most of the males of the colony parade down the main avenue before coming to a stop at the Justice Villa. The Consul gives a speech regarding the duty to their families, honor, and history. Finally, the men disperse to their homes or various bars, drinking a hard liquor derived from Mai2 and a night of merry making follows.

While people celebrate in the streets, the General sat reading a book in the central command room. It wasn't one of the new books made for the entertainment of the colonists, but an original brought from Earth itself. A slow and steady beeping suddenly became rapid and loud, and a message was patched in. The General and several staff members rushed to the comma station, where the message from Colony 204 was being repeated. A young man grabbed a speaker, and began trying to transmit a response

"Is anyone there? I repeat, is anyone still there? This is a representative of the Republic of Tres, do respond, over."

The message would be sent anther time, and a translator stands by.

"Send word to the Consul, tell him we may have established contact with other life"

It was the early morning, and Major Guiliano hurried into the Command Tower. The radio operator swung his hand through the air, motioning for the Military Governor to come over.

"What is it, Private?"

"Sir, we've got contact."

The Major moves to his own desk, sitting down to drink his coffee and think.

"The Republic of Tres..."

The Major has the operator send a transmission back.

"Republic of Tres, this is Colony 204,  colony of the Ice Moon of Dione  State your ethnic groupings and resource usage. Are you a Nation bent on taking over other moons, or are you simply trying to get by? Over."

16 soldiers guard the farms and granaries, while 4 continuously patrol the perimeter's, looking for breaches or threats to security. The remaining 55 are called to the courtyard of the Military Biosphere, where Major Guiliano speaks to them.

"Men of our lovely Colony. Things are going well. Very well. We will soon be off of this GE food shite, and back to the good natural and organic foods that are so necessary to our existence. I want you lot to train today, under Sergeant Winslow's command."

The men go off, training throughout the day. Hand-to-Hand combat, Shooting, Basic First Aid. All of it is run through over the course of the day.

Major Guiliano gets on the Colony-wide PA system, and speaks:

"People of Colony 204. The work being done here is a great feat. We've got metal plates put in, where our biosphere's are... Thick steel rods go out dozens of miles to the thickest ice we could find, to keep these metal plates supported and afloat. We have unlimited water underneath us! But... unfortunately, I need some volunteers. Men and women alike are needed to help install more solar panels on the homes of our Colony, to provide free power from our friend, the sun. Even then, we cannot use too much, not until we can find a more continuous source of power."

He clicks off the PA, and turns to one of the few scientists in the settlement.

"What do you know about hydro-electricity?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, under the Citizen Biosphere, 20 carpenters continue their work, upgrading and building new homes, as another 45 volunteers begin to help installing solar panels for power.

The farming biosphere continues to grow different crops, such as Kale, Broccoli, Potatoes, and other fruits and vegetables. Only a small amount of wheat is being grown. 5 carpenters and 5 farmers continue to build the farmhouse.

Summary:

Diplomatic Action: Transmission sent to the Republic of Tres.

- Farms continue to be watered and sunned, while the farmhouse is being built.

- Training was held, and the men know have better knowledge on combat and first aid.

- Construction and installation of solar panels begins.

- Starting supplies of colony begin to grow to about 1/8th of original value.

History prior to settlement

In an admittedly brief window of time, Earth was crushed under the weight of the Kaiser's space weapon, with survivors being assaulted by an assortment of biological weapons. Had such an event not occurred, the population of practically every colony would be triple of what it is today. The first arrivals to Umbriel were not the most prepared due to the lack of needed supplies, but they were from northern areas of Asia, specifically picked for their strength in the desolate cold. Umbriel was not the most suited for colonization, but it was chosen not for its location, but for the materials on it. Underground lay both an abundance of ice water, minerals, and metals. The most notable of these minerals were the florescent rocks on the surface, located in several craters. At first thought to produce radiation, they were soon found safe, and became common place as light fixtures .With a base of operations fully functional, the second and last batch of colonists arrived, carrying with them an abundance of supplies needed for the long haul.

Present:

Two figures clad in thick temperature controlled, oxygen supplied suits slowly make their way through the ruble of a collapsed mine. A group of laborers peered over the wreckage, turning to face the two figures approaching them. A laborer steps forward.

"We've had another tunnel collapse, sir." "Casualties?" "A worker had his arms broken and a concussion, nothing too bad. A drill was damaged however." One of the suited figures frown behind a thick helmet. "Maintenance will have to fix it, I'm sure they can spare the scrap. Fish it out of the tunnel and send it off."

Such was life in the YCC's Umbriel colony. The mainly Japanese based population of one of Uranus's many moons was always under severe pressure to meet set quotas, whether it was mined materials or farmed food. As it stood, each outpost maintained a steady supply of needed supplies, but as the population grew, so would the depletion of these goods. The Minister and Colonial Council had deemed another outpost was needed, but over stretching their limits was dangerous, especially in such a harsh climate. The colonists were never one to really argue with the colonial government however, especially as they were backed by the brutal soldiers who carried rather old weapons.

Thus far, no contact has been made with the outside world, everyone having been caught up in their own affairs of survival. This isolation would be kept until the time came when contact was necessary.

The mining colony of the YCC continues on.

Nation Name: Red Lion

Mod Approved Population: 428 (All civilians of various professions.)

Deep in the vast ocean beneath the frozen surface of Europa, the Red Lion had settled.

Thick metal shells covered the three biospheres of the settlement, each coated in lights from the city that lived within the shell. Geo-thermal vents powered the light, feeding into the city through long sections of pipe that fed from the darkness in the depths. Automated kelp farms spread around the settlement had been the backbone of agriculture in the beginning years of the colony. While many facilities on the side of the colony separated oxygen from the water.

On the surface, all that shone of the city beneath was a single monolithic spire and a thick metal bulkhead that was coated in ice.

All throughout the city, monitors buzzed with the image of the bulkhead slowly sliding open as a rocket emerged on a platform covered with scurrying teams of men in hulking metal suits about, finalizing the craft.

Binh Iwamatsu, Chairman of the Red Lion, sat high above the floor of the ocean in his observation deck, switching between watching the broadcast and the workers down below , in similar suits to the ones on the surface, who went about laying the foundation for the fourth biosphere. Binh swirled the drink in his glass and took sip before turning his view back to the monitor, watching as the teams departed the surface. Soon enough a voice played over the broadcast, describing their journey from Earth to Europa, explaining the hardships they had faced and how they had persevered. Eventually the speech ended and a countdown began, flashing every screen aboard the colony with "20.00". The timer ticked down rapidly as exhaust began to fume from the rocket. At "00.00" the rocket rose up from the launchpad, smoke trailing behind it as it ascended into the sky. Binh took a full gulp of his drink as an indicator flashed on his screen, alerting him to a call. He set his glass aside and answered.

The face of Minh, the Red Lion's chief engineer, greeted him with a bow.

"Greetings, Minh." BInh said, taking a moment to pause. "I assume this means you've developed the last prototype?"

"Yes, excellency, with your permission, we will begin truly testing these new exosuit designs immediately."

"Good, You've my go ahead Minh."

Minh gave a quick nod as if bowing before he closed the call.

A new indicator flashes as he finishes the call, when he answers it, merely a voice speaks.

"Chairman, sir, we're able to send a message while the communications relay is in flight."

"Very well then." says Binh, readjusting his desktop microphone.

Speaking in a loud and clear voice the Chairman holds down a button on his microphone and says "This is Red Lion, repeat, this is Red Lion, colony on Europa, repeat, colony on Europa, please respond." Binh ends it there, turning in his seat to look up at the glacial ceiling of the ocean outside.

"Message sent, Chairman sir, will that be all?" The voice asks, awaiting Binh's response.

"That will be all for now, monitor for a response then report it to me."

"Yes then, Chairman sir." the voice says, dropping the call.

Binh sighs, leaning back in his chair and picking up is drinking glass once again.

On Triton

Critical structural failure, Warp drive destroyed upon leaving warp speed and entering Neptune's gravitational field, communication antenna and systems damaged, hyper-range transponder destroyed. The Civilian Ship Kra'Teme Duon falling towards the surface of Triton.

...

Impact is hefty, brake-thrusters could only soften the landing so much. Left back section structural and hull failure, 20 crewmembers and 70 Civilians find their death. 270 remain, some wounded, some fortunately still alive. Life support still functional, energy levels on 56%. Engines and thrusters offline. The Ship won't make another fly. Structural and hull damages all over the ship.

...

Distress signal is being sent. Hyper-range transponder defunct and offline. No replacements available. Long-range transponder up and functional within the next hour. Distress signal is being sent.

...

A radio wave echoes through the solar system. A message in a foreign tongue, not Human one could easily tell, but a voice full of fear and plead.

...

"Tou ra Kra'teme Duon. Nedar hilf. Zratem en Stelare frem. Nedar hilf. Haben Zivar en Shaf."

((Translation, do not meta this: "This is Kra'teme Duon. Need help. Crashed on foreign Stellar. Need help. Have Civilians on Ship."))

The Humanist Peoples of Titan

Nation Name: The Humanist(Free) Peoples of Titan
Mod-approved population: 400

"Unity, liberty, contempt for the alien"

These are the three tenets of Humanism, a humanity-glorifying religion that rose to the fore with the Tibetans on Titan after their separation from Earth so many years ago, with many aspects being taken from their original faith, buddhism. After the only demonstrable contact with extra-solar intelligent life back on Earth results in war with the brutal and bloody race known as Ascardians, resentment for alien life grew as a core of hatred that eventually sprung into a full-blown belief system with the Humanist Peoples of Titan. The religion states that only once these three vital concepts are achieved physically, mentally, and spiritually can humanity achieve nirvana and cease dukkha.

The Humanist Peoples, who inhabit their colony known as Gsar pa Lhasa (or New Lhasa) have so far kept to themselves, doing little but grow in size. They have a central command biosphere, 4 housing biospheres, each holding 100 people, 3 crop biospheres and a single biosphere that houses cattle. The colony is powered using methane-fired generators, the methane being acquired from both mining the liquid methane lakes and seas, and a more passive generation which takes the methane produced by the cattle. Electricity is made with methane, methane is used as a heating gas, and is reacted with the carbon dioxide produced by the humans and combustion to make water. Methane is essential to life in New Lhasa, but hopefully not for long.

Preparations are made to try and create a space station that orbits closer to Saturn, with the same orbital radius from Saturn as Dione. The station will have two docking and launch bays on either side, one facing Saturn and the other facing back towards Titan's orbit. It will have 4 missile launch turrets, that are manned, and 12 close-in automatic defence turrets for the purpose of shooting down any close-by threats. All these would be positioned around the surrounding disc.

The main module, with the launch bays, would be going up first.[3 pages - Correct me if unrealistic]

Additionally, 2 extra biospheres are to be constructed. One for housing, and another for cattle. [4 pages - Correct me if unrealistic]

Diplomatic actions:

The message sent from Colony 204 is acknowledged and responded to, greeting them and asking them if they are human.

The message from the Protorians is responded to, with the following message:

"We do not understand your message, so we ask you this:

Are you human?

If so, we greet you and hope to help you.

If you are alien, then woe, death, and fire be rained down upon you."
