Updated War Rules

What's the difference between the settlement attack system you set and raids?

This one has a best of three open field warclaims and then a settlement siege. Personally, given the difficulty of reaching the siege I think we should develop it further.

Pretty sure there's always been a preparation and a cost for going to war, making armour, weapons and possibly losing them.

I'm not going to read over however many pages there are in this, but I did read the first post seriously.

As someone who's in charge of a settlement since Thales((Yes not that long of time, but the drama that has ensued..oh lorde))

I really apriciate this. This helps support smaller settlements who have difficulty being punching bags.

People often attack smaller places because theres little resistance. Sure. Sometimes nations even attack you to try to make you merge- but now I feel like the raid rules are finally not saying 'Well if your haveing problems you should move into the capital'

Because there are people who literally CAN NOT unless they make a new character, either because of the characters race/sexuality/personality

The cool downs and the moderator watching for attacks on settlements is very pleasing, and I do like that you have to pay in some way.

There are some people whining about it, but realistically- A lot of money goes into war. A lot of materials. Nations take out massive loans from banks because they need to pay for their soldiers and other things.

Just take the consequence to raiding and think about it- If your not willing to get the things to start the skirmish is it REALLY worth it to attack?

Rather than just saying 'lol lets go attack that one place by the river' You actually think about the consequences- Like real town, guard, and nation leaders would do. Rather than just slapping people into armor

As for orcs and other types- Banditry is still a thing. Attack people on the roads! Bandits are more likley to do this sort of thing anyway. Drag your victim into the woods.

I think the only thing that should be added in is bandits camping the entrance to a city ((I have seen this happen at Anni'sul))

Because that would classify as a siege ((Attacking anyone who tries to enter or exit the area. Blocking trade ect.)) And there should be a range from the city's entrance that bandits are allowed to set up at.

Imagine highwaymen! They'd set up on the road outside of a settlement and demand a toll.

Sort of like a 'no smoking within 20 feet of the entrance" policy that most businesses have for their workers.

Excuse me if this is a little rambly, it is 2am

Due to the extremely close range of the Ram and placement of one's self in potential killzones, ram hits should be reduced to 60 seconds. For sure.

Siege defenders should have to fork over a pre-set amount of food, to properly simulate potentially starving to death due to siege camps encircling a settlement.

Both of these. I would go so far as to say 30 seconds, just compare how much safer you are firing a catapult. Anyone with any proper defensive structure will be able to kill you long before even a minute is up, I believe, lest they are arrow-less.

Speaking of siege camps, the siegers should be able to set them up outside the gates if they reach the siege stage.

I'd like to add, forgive the double-post, that some nations have smaller populations than some guilds. Therefore, they pay far more than they are capable of producing when compared to larger nations or guilds.  I propose the price of war system be changed.

What if we had to pay for a cap on our soldiers for that battle, so perhaps 5 gold blocks and two stacks of food per 10 men?

No more raids? Thats pointless, both parties have to be aware now that there will be a skirmish. This means we can't do any surprise attacks with is stupid

Good to hear this insane raiding and priceless war is being addressed by these new rules.

Is good!

Siege weaponry system is godly. Make sure unbiased GMs are put on the team overseeing the claim.

Ehem. To all those people out there thinking that paying for war is a stupid idea and doesn't happen IRL, please refer to the below:

Wars are stupid things IRL, they waste money, resources and lives and usually achieve little in the process... Surprise!

The donated resources should be recirculated back into the economy through the use of GM shops, Events, etc...
