Yes, but the smaller settlements/nations are screwed, e.g. the snelves, because there is NO WAY we can get enough gold to do anything, seeing as it is already insanely rare in the mines.  In a war, skirmish, or siege we would be only defending, and right now all we can do is make chainmail armour and take it, without gold.

 

Large nations such as Oren and the Dwarves who have plenty of miners can simply ROFLstomp the entire server by repeated warclaims on everyone.

Why exactly is it cheaper for guilds to go to war and easier for them to win? All that achieves is massively incentivises uberguilds rather than nations and practically begs players to scour the rules for loopholes.

Ehem. To all those people out there thinking that paying for war is a stupid idea and doesn't happen IRL, please refer to the below:

 

 

Wars are stupid things IRL, they waste money, resources and lives and usually achieve little in the process... Surprise!

 

The donated resources should be recirculated back into the economy through the use of GM shops, Events, etc...

You bring up a point worth looking at, who decides nationhood legitimacy? Some folks in Oren don't see Hanseti as an actual nation, unless this is answered by the town pillars themselves.

 

America had to pick up the limp-dicked Brits but just remember that the Irgun got some pretty weapons from the Brits ;)

Siege

  1. The price of war for nation siege is changed to 32 gold blocks, 1 doublechest of stacked baked food(of any variety), and 1  chest of stacked cooked meats(of any variety)
  2. The price of war for guilds siege changed to 10 gold blocks, 1 stack of baked good and 1 stack of cooked meat

Skirmish

  1. The price of war for nations for skirmishes is set at 10 gold blocks, 1 doublechest of baked goods
  2. The price of war for guilds for skirmishes is set at 5 gold blocks, 1 double chest of baked goods

 

I dont know if anyone else noticed:

 

The price of war for guilds siege changed to 10 gold blocks, 1 stack of baked good and 1 stack of cooked meat

 

The price of war for guilds for skirmishes is set at 5 gold blocks, 1 double chest of baked goods

 

 

Clearly this is an error, could this be clearified to what it should have been, thanks

Love the new rules. However, the map on the OP appears to be from an earlier dev build of Athera. For example, what is now the forest of Fiandria appears to be under a fairly urbanised island.

Firstly, if your nation is too small to handle the cost of war, it shouldn't be a nation.

 

Secondly, yes, the biggest, most populated and most militarized nations (i.e dwarves and Oren) will be the ones that can most easily declare war if they wish. That's the point.
