We need a new map. I hate this, worse than anything I've ever roleplayed in. Just do Anthos or Asulon again, please. It's the only sufficient answer.

New map, Athera is getting too old for me. And this time, let's hope the nations aren't a minute's walk away from each other.

The only thing I hate about map changes are the dumb little in between islands we have to play on while transferring. If we could just stay on this map till the release of a new one I would not care.

Add fast travels (once again) to Athera (either paid with ingame currency or give VIP's access [Not that high though else they will never be utilized enough]). It helps make the map feel larger then it actually is. I realize the point of having them removed was to promote road RP but honestly road RP isn't that great and most people just sprint run without interacting with others on the road.

no this map is too bad and compact we need a nice big map with fast travel that costs minas

Why wipe an entire map if you can just re-arrange the current one? If you feel the map is poorly created with the placement of nations as I've seen a few people say, have the nation leaders arrange for an event line to happen where the nation is "forced" to move or something.

Add map expansions, do something beside wiping the map. THAT'S A TEMPORARY FIX, NOT A PERMANENT ONE.

Listen to everyone and add fast travel. **** the road RP, we have enough taverns.

What we need is an active events in the map. **** maps can be fun if the RP is enjoyable. Toss in a new plague, start a war, some sort of conflict that catches the eye.

I am /not/ saying put in a server wide antag, but perhaps smaller scale antags just like the Feral elves are with Fiandria. Have the ET more geared towards that, and for the love of god, accept more ET that actively do events.

I would personally like to see a very high-quality, permanent map. Me and many others I know are very tired of constantly switching maps, losing progress. I think a final one would be ideal, with a professional spawn/village maybe, with different architecture zones for different races, and creative-built buildings and terrain expanding far around it to impress the new players. The map also needs to be smaller, for more RP.

Say the air in Athera was becoming unlivable from Angren and the nether terrain, and monks got together to form a portal to a new world.. Aphrenn or something..

Also.. as stated.. people are spread too thin. Regions need to be more numerous, and closer.

handpainted_fantasy_map_concept_by_djeks

Picture humans on the left-bottom side of the mountain range, elves and halflings on the right of the range, orcs and Kharajyr on the east island, dwarves in the north, with a spawn in the mountains with roads leading down then to each racial territory.

Literally every map basically starts that way.

People always complain about RP spreading too thin. It'll always spread thin, because everyone wants to be a town owner or lead an Order. Making a new map will not solve this unless we have OOC restrictions, which even more people will ***** about.

Hello! Mind if I provide some insight?

This map IS designed to be the "permanent" map (or as close to as the server would get. It was designed to address a number of issues with older maps, namely the lengthy travel times between each settlement and the revival of road roleplay.

First off, if you think the cities are too far apart, you're a loon. Any closer together and they'd be sharing walls.

The issue with fast travel is that if you overindulge in it, you wind up  with a pretty unfortunate situation. In-between areas become dead zones, used only for cybering and the occasional war, whilst cliques hole up in their respective cities. If you can just instantly appear by your friends, why go and meet people? Long distance goes hand in hand with fast travel, and encourages its use. Between them, creating a new inn or settlement or what have you is incredibly hard, because you earn no patronage if you aren't where people are.

This map was designed with a central road so that there would always be somebody there on the road. This helps shops flourish, RP bud, and new connections to be made. We've done the whole spread out thing before, and it wasn't exactly ideal. Unless, of course, you enjoy roleplaying with an empty house (magic team era mages are, of course, well accustomed to this, so for them the transition shouldn't be difficult). Some people say it's too big, some too small. I say a good compromise leaves nobody happy.

Putting mountain ranges in between every race, or rivers of lava or what have you sounds nice in a fantasy novel setting, but here, it would be extremely irritating to have to climb up a mountain face every time somebody wanted to go to the next town over. It would probably quadruple travel time and add no real benefit.
