  1. 1. Free-build or Capture-able locations?

  2. 2. We will be having a reward system, would you like it to be Dungeon or Event based?

    • Dungeon (There are ruins throughout that may occasionally have rewards in them!)
    • Event (The GM Team will host an event occasionally, giving out to the winner a prize!)

  3. 3. Would you like to be able to fund ocean expeditions with the chance to find islands of varying use? (temporary resources, events, dungeons, lore, PVP purpose, small settlement, etc)

  4. 4. How large should the map be?

    • Small [250x250]
    • Medium [500x500]
    • Large [1k x 1k]
    • I don't like these options, I'll write my opinion below.
  5. 5. Should enchanted items be found there?

You're giving rewards for players to go pvp in the badlands...

 

My personal opinion is simple. Either just make it a normal map where people PVP, or give rewards to those that don't pvp, and the second part is impossible.

 

 

Special events, enchanted gear there, you're catering to the wrong part of the bloody server. Having a place where those that like PVP go to PVP is one thing, but giving rewards for being there? That's just absolute disrespect for what the server is suppose to be.

Maybe if you have it so that while the badlands are open for a set period of time each day, an awesome RP event is held in Athera that rewards unique items. Then have it set so that if you go to the badlands for PvP, you don't get to be in the RP event. This should keep the numbers fairly balanced.

 

Also maybe have an actual plugin for siege equipment like on The Dark Age server that can fire without the need for a GM sitting there launching fireballs that only go straight.

Personally I feel No-RP killing would be interesting since this zone is already sort of for the purpose of mechanical combat.

I think what would be best is that the captured bases remain captured even when the bad lands are closed. This saves progress. Also, any areas (such as dungeons) can be reset, or could change slightly to add new RP scenarios.

 

Keep aggressive mobs in these dungeons, makes it harder

This sounds cool and all, but my only concern is wouldn't this draw RP and players out of Athera and into the Badlands instead..? (As in, taking people out of main RP points like cities, roads and etc and bringing it to the Badlands instead.)

 

Also, I agree with Jistuma's concerns 100%.

I'd personally rather it was integrated into the main world instead of being it's own map, but otherwise most of the points presented in the OP are good.

Ocean expeditions are odd to actually function, that would come under Events rather than player-based things as there aren't ships that function like that.

 

How would it be regulated, like who decides what island you stumble onto? What will be on that island? 

 

Also, the Badlands, there should be a resource that isn't available on the standard map. Something that would RPly justify the cause of the continuous fighting. Factions should be able to establish bases there, arrange between themselves battles/fights for outposts/bases.

The text might look derpy I'm writing on phone.

- Make badlands, and dungeons and expeditiond different things.

- Badlands simply a pvp zone with either capture able premade bases/ruins built by staff (yey I'd get to do this!) Or captureable points and let the group build their fort themselves. Or simply freebuild pvp zone.

- Add a plugin to let people who enter the badlands make a party(I'd say party rather than faction to keep this out from nation conflicts or w/e) so that you can capture bases with your party and then hold it.

- Bases could be held with some kind of flag or object. And you'd be able to take down a different party's flag and placing your own up.(I think this would be easier with a plugin to make it automatic)

- Maybe a reward? But I think the free pvpand pvp-loot is enough reward to the pvpers.

- If you die in badlands, I think there should be a cooldown for like 10 or 15 minutes before the warp to badlands will work for you again, but I'd skip the 30minute rule and no returning to death. Hey it's pvp.

- Have a different map/warp for dungeons

- Private dungeon area for a party? Like mmo-rpg heroic/raid?

- Rewards depending on dungeon difficulty

- Fully automated PvE dungeons

- Et/staff hosted manual dungeons in Athera.

- Et/staff hosted expeditions with event rp, maybe some pve and then resource gathering.

No rewards. PvP is a reward in itself. Or rather, reward players with things usable in the badlands. Like forts and buffs. Stuff that would be used in badlands and not really carry over into the game.

Give those who want to PVP something to do with capture points.

 

Make sea expeditions RP events and either don't half ass them, or don't do them at all.

 

Don't give out enchants. For one, they suck and secondly it is an incentive for people to abandon the main world to go PVP on a side world. Give out enchants (rarely) in main world events.

 

Don't make the map huge. Keep it a side thing and not a place people can start living in 24/7 when they are logged on.

It would be team based, not nation based. Less RP more mechanics, if you get the drift.

The badlands is not intended for roleplay, if you wish to roleplay a hostile land of people eager to kill you is not a location you should find yourself very often.

And we already have a very good idea most players interested in the badlands will be happy about to reward players with. We're working on making sure it's balanced however.
