Your View: Rule Updates And Additions

Recently, there has been plentiful feedback and general confusion over the current layout and content of our rules for Lord of the Craft. We really like to hear/see this feedback and constructive input on a multitude of issues, yet to truly create a better server and experience overall, we must tackle them one at a time. Thusly, this thread has been composed in order to receive your opinions and ideas for either updates, additions or removals from both the Server and Global rules.

 

Keep in mind, the basis for an opinion or suggestion is that it is simply a suggestion. All input will be carefully examined and discussed by our team, yet this does not mean your idea will necessarily be implemented.

 

I'd like to put forth a few guidelines for posting before we begin:

 

1) Remember to be constructive and contribute to the conversation at hand. 

2) If someone has already posted an idea, do not post it again. If you wish to show support, you can simply take advantage of our +1 method.

3) Once again, keep in mind that while your input is valuable and well regarded, it does not mean it will, for sure, be implemented in the rules.

Add no cheat to the server, or something similar of the sort, and ban bad ol' hackers and keep them off the server. Also, enforce a strict rule that forces people to properly rp instead of just saying simple emotes like...

The current RP that goes on this server is simply atrocious, lets fix that please. If people that come on this server don't want to roleplay and are here purely to pvp, then they don't need to be here, there are thousands of pvp servers out there for them.

Running from rp.

Some people say halt then kill you cause they say you didnt emote doing anything.

Some people just kill you after saying hi on the road and you continue on your way.

What is the base of the pvp default for people running from normal rp?

 

I believe that people who are in violent/hostile rp shouldn't be able to run. But if your having a nice chat in rp, you can leave without getting killed.

 

 

Also return cybering and brothels.

Even if you don’t technically break any of our listed rules -- either from walking the fine line between breaking the rules and not or from consistently jumping through loopholes -- it is a moderator’s right to warn or ban you if they deem such an action necessary.

 

That's always very troubling. I mean, if you only use that part of the rules for walking the fine line or exploiting loopholes it's fine, but the wording seems to make it possible to be punished for unlisted rules, no? Which is what most people don't want.

Remove the rule where gms need proof to ban alts of suspected hackers, since most gms and most players know whos is who but cannot use skype or ts info or knowledge to ban the hacker, and the only proof that is now allowed is IP which is folly since alting hackers all use proxys and ip changers.

 

Bring it back to how it was in the old days when you could ban a player on suspicion if several gms agree on it.

Lighten up on the necrophilia rule, as I am sure the mention of it will call the Supremacy-Cops and most likely have you banned. At least make it so they you can lightly kiss a corpse or whatever, but still not go full on doing the diddly.

 

Since this is in ye old times with magic and stuff, and many mages want to at least interact with the dead in a way to feel empowered, some characters can be broken if they lost a loved one, they may not want to let them go which could lead them into this sick sort of fetish. Hell, even revering the dead in an intimate way could be the base of a cool culture.

Keep squirrelphilia banned though.

Elaborate on the structures that defy the laws of physics rule cause that's just silly, it doesnt need to be explained since I am sure everyone understands that floating islands are a thing. At least make a note that to make one you have to use magic or whatever it is.

Tight your grip with this common sense standard or get rid of it.

 

Then get rid of everything that can break this, such as feather falling boots(especially this, since this now a complete useless piece of enchantment), boats, and other stuff that could cause people to break this rule, and implement an armor/weapon equipping plugin or something, since most people wont really abide by putting on armor/unsheathing weapons through RP means and using MC standard to quickly equip stuff for pvp. Also, how are people going to RP breaking limbs and stuff if they say, jump from an extreme height and still survive, burn from lava, have gravel in their lungs, etc.? I assume it's up to the player, which, during chases and stuff, people wont abide by. I also guess this means a goodbye to sprint jumping away from stuff is also banned? Cause I mean, yeah, no common sense right there.

 

Also, instead of ban reporting all those people who break a "common sense" rule, then is there going to be warning reports or something until people don't get it? Since breaking these would be small, and a ban report going up for every little thing would be ridiculous.

A higher emphasis on using common sense is needed in the rules section. I'm not talking about a standard- I literally mean, there needs to be a statement that says something along the lines of "Use common sense, don't ruin stuff for others". There are a lot of specific actions listed there, and it needs to be stated more clearly that players should strive not to be a sh*t and that moderators can enact punishments using their own discretion.

I think that opens up a huge opportunity for false-flags or abuse. Some people act similarly, and it'd be very easy for people to be mistaken for others, no?

Create a physical Minas form. This created much more realistic robbery RP and made some fun economic RP (always fun when you need help carrying all your money). The current Minas system's only value is people value you, and there are a certain amount. Switching it with a physical currency such as emeralds or gold nuggets gives it more value as well.

Also with physical and even the current Minas system, Minas are lost on death. Due to this, the value of the Mina increases. I would counter that by placing a very, very small Mina gain on mobs. This gives them a reason for being around and gives starting players a way to get somewhere. I remember when I joined that all I did was harvest food and find Minas with RP off of that. It was an enjoyable experience on LotC that I think should be brought back.
