Your View: A New Map?

Hey guys, this is going to be a really prompt Your View. I just want to gather opinions, and feelings.

We all know Athera has some outlining problems. Plots, size, and all issues we've continued to repeat to ourselves. Many of the fixes aren't resolvable, without a drastic map change.

So here's my pitch to you, the community! Would you guys be okay with a larger temp-map, or more so a prompt replacement for our current map? I'm trying to avoid the "temp-map" negative connotation, because this map isn't the introduction into 5.0. We're not close to 5.0, and this map is more so a prolonged fix to our current issues; such as plots, size, ect.

So, what's your view?

Edit: To note a few things, this map would be large, fast travels, different (better) region system, and it'd look pretty damn nice.

From a completely selfish standpoint, what happens to dwarven lore then?

 

Athera is the actual heartland of the dwarves in the ancient history and both the LT and ET have completely failed to provide to our racial history when we have the Throne of Urguan, Kal'Verak, Seal, heart, 13 holds (( The Dwarven doors or DDoor_[number] regions )) in athera?

 

Will the next map have any racial flavour, and if so does the staff actually feel that they can execute it? The LT literally had to tell us this one was dwarven and when they did it destroyed our lore through botched implementation at every point.

 

No other race deserves their lore to be flushed down the drain, which ours was.

I think that just a big, randomly generated world would be much worse than what we currently have. I'd rather wait until we get a rich and detailed map.

The problems with the server at the moment won't be fixed with a map change. While I applaud the initiative, I don't think it is prudent to swap maps so soon, especially into a temp map, and have Athera be a map of total failure. There are a myriad of ways we can fix up this map and turn it into something more respectable. Abandoning it so readily would bring excitement for a month or two, but the 6+ months of settling the new map (which is a constant factor with all maps) would be a hassle.

 

That being said, Athera as a role-play map is awful. While I believe we can make it work given a combination of staff and player efforts, I do anticipate the next map in hopes that it is designed with more thought behind it.

Why not instead of having a prolonged temp map, we just make large changes to Athera as it is to make the world either seem bigger or have it so nation Rp is more centralized if possible. This can be done by having giant land shifts ICly, or something explainable. I would prefer not having an entirely new map built where we need to start out again with remaking cities, or it being foreign. As it really wouldn't make any since for the descendants to up and move even though we've only been in athera for like 40 years. And the getting forced to move to another location because of some magical force or drought is getting a bit old. It'd be cooler to simply make giant changes or world events which cause nations to move, wiping plots making land additions to Athera, and so on. Though if we do decide to make a new map entirely. Could we have it have islands, like an archipelago such as in Kalos/Elysium. Or have a large ocean biome to explore. We need more ocean RP!

No temp map this time, let's try transitioning maps without one. Unless it's boats or a giant submarine or giant ruin we have to inhabit for a week between maps, that might be neat. But something more unique than the previous temp maps.

I say we just do a deus ex, go back to Aegis, and build upon that. Of course, slight touch ups would help too, to make it seem much cooler.
