The Tazman Republic

 

The Tazman Republic was born out of a union of many petty barons and counts known as Signurs that  each controlled a chunk of the island of Tazlund. After many hundreds of years of conflict and bloodshed between the differing Signuries, one Signury emerged as a clear dominant force. This was the Signury of Sondolt, one which waxed and waned in power with the changes in rulers from statesmen to warmongers, but even at it's weakest it remained apart from the rest.

 

Eventually, the final Signur of Sondolt rose to power, a man named Rykurd Weelzun. With a brilliant mind he struck the perfect balance between diplomacy and aggression, and by the end of his life he had united every Signury of Tazlund through conflict and conference under his benevolent yet firm rule which radiated out from his capital of Hubard, dying in 1313A.N. His reign saw him become a national hero, and he was honoured with a statue being erected in Hubard's centre.

 

 

After Rykurd's death, his son Janiz came to power, already having a high standard to match after his father's impressive and successful reign. He failed miserably to meet it, and after a mere 5 years his unpopularity reached a level that provoked a popular revolt throughout Tazlund. The Signurs secretly sent arms to these rebels, expecting a restoration of their autonomy, but after the storming of the Royal Palace in 1318A.N., the Tazman Republic was declared, with the leaders already making rousing speeches of freedom and equality for all men, much to the horror of the Signurs.

 

Seeing that their time would come to an end should the Tazman Republic remain, the Signurs collectively attacked the revolutionaries, resulting in a brutal and bloody civil war that raged on for 10 years. However, the determination and popular support of the Republicans eventually won out, and the Signurs were forced to sign the Treaty of Lonztun removing all the powers of their titles, and were then executed by firing squad for treason in 1328A.N., and peace was brought once again to Tazlund.

 

After 72 years of the signing of the Treaty of Lonztun, and the Tazman Republic has prospered and suffered as any nation does. In this period, the Republic's identity as a naval and mercantile nation with the willingness to be aggressive with outsider nations has become even more pronounced, and now it looks to foreign shores to bring affluence and ascendancy. 

 

 

The Twin Fleets of Tazlund were moored in Hubard's harbour, recalled from their normal patrol duties. The Tazman Parliament had recalled them, a new task for them taking priority. The 1st Fleet was to sail to the Nuzilund Islands to the south, to demand their accession to the Tazman Republic, or force it. Each is promised full status as one of the Signuries with the right to police and administrate autonomously, with the ability to pass laws so long as they did not conflict with the Tazman Constitution. For many years had their raiders beleaguered the Tazman people, and now they would join the Republic, willingly or not.

The 2nd fleet would sail north to the lands of the Republic of Andor, and pillage their coasts.

On a completely different front, that of statecraft, several diplomats are dispatched to other nations around the globe. 

 

A defensive alliance is offered to the Empire of Oceanis, and in the case of either acceptance or denial a non-aggression pact and trade agreement is offered.

 

The same deal is made with the Republic of Kuanesh.

 

A non-aggression pact is offered to the Pirates of Vrak, promising that the Tazman Republic will allow them to port and will not infringe upon their practices.

 

Trade agreements are offered to ALL NATIONS.

 

 

At home, the construction of a national trade hub begins, with hopes of effectively organising and bolstering the Tazman trade to better suit the state's aims and needs. ((3 pages)) -25,000

The European Federation

Premier Julian Gaston Trudeau witnessed the festive opening of various trading hubs throughout the country, prosperity was finally on the horizon after so many years of struggle. It was merely the beginning for the long quest to wealth and military supremacy, but it was a beginning Julian could only have wished for.

 

 

Shortly after the ceremonial opening, a National Stock Exchange begins construction in Gascogne. The economy had to grow quick to compete with the increasing demand for progress and production after all.  Though with the upcoming AT Vehicle ready for production , more advanced production technology was necessary in its assigned factory. Because of that, plans for a new factory was made and readied in {{1 Page}}.

 

 

Meanwhile, the negotiations between the Duchy of Fenrir of the east and the European Federation went excellent. Much was agreed upon:

 

- The Duchy of Fenrir would join the Central Concordat as an observer state, obtaining a passive seat.

- The Duchy of Fenrir agrees to certain border suggestions on the eastern continent.

- The Duchy of Fenrir agrees to a technological pact with the European Federation.

 

 

Although everything went according to plan, the European Federation will remain publicly supportive of full Concordat membership for the Duchy of Fenrir.

The Republic of Kuanesh

 

As the only power in the Eastern Pacific that could hope to compete with the Kuanese navy, Tazman had always commanded a certain level of respect from the Kuanese. But they had both always been ambitious, and the republic had long been wary of an eventual conflict with an equally expansionist southern power.

 

Nevertheless, the Tazmanian emissaries are welcomed as their ship pulls into Javakta harbor. The city is alive with news from the east, as apparently Kuanese troops have engaged Andorian mainlanders over the right to colonize the coastal islands. The foreigners are led to a well-appointed hotel room overlooking the Bay of Sungai, and told that the Aji will meet with them that afternoon.

 

In reality, Wira is delayed by a late session of the Council over issues unknown, and instead the diplomats are invited to his house, where they have a long talk over dinner. The Aji is cordial throughout the entire affair, but the eventual conclusion is that he cannot accept a defensive alliance under current conditions. Kuanesh is determined to ensure the safety of Kuanese trade across the pacific, and would require certain assurances that their intended sphere of influence would not be threatened.

 

These disappointing statements are tempered with friendliness, however, and Wira seems very willing to work with Tazmanians if an acceptable offer were on the table.

THE UNITED KINGDOM OF WINDSORIA

"I agree completely!" The general addresses the translator as a cannonball soars overhead, crashing into the beachhead.

The marine general quickly consults with his officers, and within a few moments, they signal the fleet out at sea and a naval bombardment of the hills on which the cannons are stationed begins.

As the powerful naval guns open fire on the hills, the enemy soldiers would most likely be forced to cease bombardment temporarily and take cover. This would allow for the marines to fix bayonets, reorganize, and quickly charge the hilltops in order to overtake the artillery.

Upon reaching the hilltops, the submachine guns of the Windsorian marines, in addition to their quick-reloading bolt action rifles with clips, would prove deadly at close range.

If the Windsorians succeeded in their attempt to take the hills surrounding the beachhead, then they would move quickly to establish Maxim Gun nests and set up artillery of their own so as to secure the beachhead as a base of operations, which would prove devastating to any Waelician army that attempted to perform a counter-assault on the marines.

The Windsorians would then wait for the next part of their plan to be set into motion, as their fleet would now begin to search out the small village from which the fishermen came.

Upon finding it, the ships would pull back a safe distance away from the cannons, and would begin to bombard the village, fully intending to make an example out of it and turn it to rubble.

Finally, the Windsorians' new squadron of biplanes would attempt to locate another small village on the north coast and would begin to drop bombs on it, as well as strafe the said village with their machine guns, just to finish striking fear into the hards of the savages who had attacked them.

After doing so, the planes would locate yet another village in Waelicia, and drop propaganda canisters there before returning home. The messages would read, in Waelic:

"CITIZENS OF WAELICIA:

Throw down your arms now, and you shall be treated fairly. Your King shall be made a vassal of our own. You shall be able to keep part of your lands to do as you wish under the United Kingdom. However, if you do not, then the fires of heaven shall be unleashed upon you."

And thus, the Waelic Wars had begun.

With new arial fighters being constructed by the Oceanians, Amerigans, and Eeyerish, the Windsorians have decided to create weaponry to defend themselves from the new sorts of arial warfare that they're sure to face in the future. Therefore a new breed of artillery weaponry was to be constructed: anti-aircraft guns. Instead of simply using artillery aimed towards the sky, the anti-aircraft guns would be specialized purely to shoot down planes. There would be two subtypes of the guns: machine gun cannons would take down planes much more easily than maxim guns, and the new breed of artillery wouldn't be strained in it's defense of the skies. All in all, it is hoped that these anti-aircraft guns will help to defend the United Kingdom of Windsoria and the Concordant from harm.

A stock exchange is also ordered to be constructed in Lauria, now regulating investments across the United Kingdom of Windsoria.

In addition to this, an agreement has been signed with Eeyerland. Both nations promise nonaggression and mutual defense to each other in the event that the Brittanic Isles are invaded by foreigners.

In addition to this, the Windsorians promise to remove their troops from the newly conquered islands (although with some minor resistance from the natives) of Coornwal and Weelton within the next year and not station any ships on those islands, and the colonies on the island would be made neutral and open to both nations. However, the marines would slowly withdraw, and would ensure that the colonies are successfully established and able to defend themselves with their own Windo-Eyerish peacekeeping/guard forces as they vacate the islands.

Also, the zeppelin carrier research has been completed, and the King is sick, and is bedridden though doctors expect George the XXII to make a full recovery in a matter of months. The Lord Chancillor takes charge during his illness.

The Confederation and her might are temporary, as a split will happen as soon as Andrew returns in max. four days after his college obligation is fulfilled. In the absence of King George the XXII of Windsoria, the country's sails of progress became windstill for a troubling period of time. Where good does not guard, evil prevails, and such happened with the Kingdom of Windsoria on what seemed to be a normal evening. To replace the King, which slept in peace in an isolated palace far from the crowded urban landscape of Windsoria, the Duke of Lauria was appointed to lead the nation until the head of state would recover. This however, was far away from his actual intentions.

 

The European Federation was quick to legitimize the new Windsorian head of state within the Central Concordat, making him immume to foreign intervention and his rule legal during the King's absence. With this newly obtained power, the Duke of Lauria, Matthew Hollis-Chartwell  used opposition sentiment within the Windsorian secret service to isolate the king and his staff in his country palace from any news or communication from the rest of the state. 

 

Unknowing of the developing Coup D'etat within Windsoria, the European Premier Julian Gaston Trudeau went to the capital of Lauria for a state visit, only to be arrested by the military on charges of "High Treason against the Concordat" with the delegation accompanying him.

 

 

They were imprisoned in the dungeons of the Royal Palace in Lauria, while the European Federation received the saddening news that they died due to an explosion aboard the State's governmental ship. The Federation, barely existing as a democracy, understood that an election would split the various united countries under the federation due to a lack of neutral candidates. With the Federation on the brink of collapse, the cabinet accepted the Windsorian proposal to put a transitional government in place which would be appointed by Concordat delegates to unite the country better before the elections. This transitional government also received authority over Windsoria, with the Duke as the chairman. Temporarily, the Pro-Windsorian transitional government would lead both the European Federation and the United Kingdom of Windsoria. What happened shortly after, was not anticipated by anyone. Both countries, were caught by surprise.

 

 

The Euro-Windsorian Confederation

 

In the wake of the political crisis in the European Federation and the lack of strong leadership in Windsoria, both governments decided to temporarily 'co-govern' to avoid the potential collapse of both countries.  Although skeptically received, the new government of the temporary Confederation had no political ressistance. The assumed chairman of Windsorian-Euro origin, thus most suited to rule over both cultural groups , Gerard Masaryk, was quick to consolidate the transitional government with the Duke as vice-chairman. On the second day of its existence, the countries were shocked with the following declaration:

 

 

"Citizens of the European Federation, Windsoria and those under our righteous banner in the near future,

 

After decades of cultural, social and economic decay, caused by our passive and unrealistic predecessing governments, the Transitional Government of the Euro-Windsorian Confederation has concluded that the nation is currently in a state of emergency. Due to the excessive Europanization, borrowing of Princeps and limitless royal expenditure, our nation is facing bankcruptcy.

 

This is why the Transitional government, legitimized by the Treaty of Valenza and both governments involved, will assume a permanent term until the situation has stabilized with the war ended. Until then, all democratic bodies within the government is abolished, with political opposition considered illegal due to the fragile state of our society. We must, in the wake of rising anarchy, undertake controversial and drastic steps to preserve what our forefathers have build with their blood and tears.

 

This is why I, as elected Chairman of the Confederation, shall dedicate all resources possible to preserve the integrity and unity of our country. I humbly ask all the citizens of this temporary state, to keep calm and continue with their daily responsibilities. Together we shall survive the turbulent times ahead of us. Thank you, and good night."

 

 

With a total manpower of 500.000, various regiments are send throughout the country to stop the few protests against the new government.  The European recruits were however considered lower in rank than Windsorian ones, resulting into a strict chain of command and discrimination among the unified army. 100.000 European soldiers were rallied in Montepellier for potential backup in the current Waelican war.

 

With the current ATV finished, the new factory starts mass producing the vehicle for future military operations.  The Confederation is quick to assume a new national research. This time, for non-military purposes.

The capital of the Confederation is declared to be Lauria, as European political opposition is silenced in the wake of all progress. Although the Concordat and the people were quite pleased with this alternative to anarchy, the Trudeau cabinet was cornered and monitored heavily to avoid any political ressistance.

 

 

Meanwhile, a Confederate expedition is send eastward to explore the Amerigo region for potential trading partners and routes.  Any country willing to establish relations with either the Federation or Windsoria would be welcomed to make contact with the ships, as they map out the coastline regions.

 

Although united under a Confederation, former Windsorian and European ties remain separate and still active. Both countries still have their own seat in the Concordat as well. An emphasis on /temporary/ is put throughout all diplomatic and political channels, although Gerard aspired for something greater than a temporary premier.

After the expansion to the mountains being successful the state issued a decree giving the land to any company that wishes to mine in the rich mountains, as long as they are willing to give the state 10%  of the ore. With the excess of ore the state makes an effort to sell it with their own trading vessels across the globe.

 

 

With the new advancements in flight with the invention of the “Carrier Zeppelin” a industrialite Enrique des Reix made a deal with the British Oligarchs. He would set up a factory to build these new military zeppelins and he would keep 1 of 3.

With the new Whale Oil fuel new whaler businesses are thriving. Especially in Novum Ceuta, where one third of Campestribus whales are fished. These whales then are transported to the mainland where they are processed for food and their oil.

 

 

 

With the successful colony of Novum Ceuta being a beacon of Evropian supremacy in the Afrikan continent, the state sends 16.000 more people, one group of 8.000 go east to set up the colony of Novum Eborae and another 8.000 go east to set up the colony of Gran Baia. 10.000 soldiers that were in the northern mountains are moved south to supplement the colony’s garrisons. They meet up with the southern regiment as they prepare to move south again.

 

 

The colonial regiment of 20.000 troops move south (light blue area), they attempt to secure the area and subdue any resistance.

 

A trade is made is Eyerland, 250 raw diamonds for 10.000 princeps. This supplemented with the gold reserves of the mines would spark the jewelry sector of the economy. Their main buyers (of the jewels) would most likely be the Evropian Federation, Windsoria and Eyerland itself.

The Andorans were not all deployed on the island. They had only sent a small party of diplomats, ambassadors, translators, and a small escort of twenty dragoons. The rest were high in the sky, watching the treachery unfold. Reports are immediately sent back to the Queen and Senate.

The time to act would have to be now. It would take weeks at best for the Kuanesh to get their five thousand marines and war ships ready and going. Unknown to the five ships meanacing the expedition, was the Andoran fleet. The queen had sent fifteen ships and eight thousand RPA behind the expedition, to stiffen the southern most island. Days instead of weeks away, they could react quicker.

With no zeppelins or ships patrolling, the Kuanesh are effectively blind. The Andorans Zeppelins ensured they would focus elsewhere. And finally the battle would commence. Fifteen Ships in battle formation appear from the blue, gunning for the five Kuanesh war ships. The twelve Andorans zeppelins would drop bombs from a safe distance, trying to do what they could. The eight thousand men remain on the southern isle.

The Tazman raiding parties would be disappointed with their raid (probably). Besides heavily defended coastal cities, the people of Andor lived deep in the jungles on their mountain cities. Zeppelins patrols would forwarn the coast, ensuring that a unified response would meet the raid. Quickly dispatched from the Queens tower were two thousand dragoons, easily making the time on racer zeppelins.

Production begins on a Zeppelin factory, capable of building specially researched and regular Zeppelin models. (Mod for approval and cost?)

The Empire of Oceanis is warned of the Pacific marauders, they're offered a military alliance to help stay unified against the upjumped pirates.

The Empire of Oceanus

 

 

In the Empire of Oceanus the treasury's coffers are filled once more, with the completion of the National Trade hub filling to a total of 45,000 Imperial Ducats. With the addition of the National Trade hub being built in the coastal Capital of Empire City private enterprise flourishes around the nation in each and every one of the Counties held by the Elector Counts of the Empire. So far both the Commoners and the Nobility are pleased with the economic progress Emperor Karl Ecroyd has brought to them.

 

 

With the nearby Republic of Tazman offering trade and alliance the Emperor decides it is best to accept both offers, with the Republic having a powerful navy on the Pacific side of the world it would be best to court them and become fast friends so that the Empire would not have to overstretch its lines to patrol the Pacific. All offers of trade and alliance with the Republic of Tazman are accepted. 

 

 

With the Aeroplane factory completed the Empire gets to work building a domestic airforce of biplanes, however the factory will eventually build the new Buzzard Fighter when the research is finished. The Military of the Empire seemed to be more about defense as they had not shown the want or need to expand overseas and seem to only be interested in expanding on the Continent. 

 

 

Building and Development 

 

With the completion of the National Trade Hub the Empire moves to begin construction on its own national stock exchange in Empire City. This costs them 25,000 Imperial Ducats

The Republic of Kuanesh

 

 

As the majority of the Andorian navy arrives at the island, the marines onshore are forced to watch in disbelief as their own ships are caught unprepared and complacent. Outmaneuvering the island nation's forces, the Andorians are able to get close and launch a crippling opening salvo that instantly sets two Kuanese ships on a path to a watery grave, and severely damages a third. Forced to retreat, the Kuanese are pursued by the zeppelins, but because the airships maintain a safe height, simple evasive maneuvers are enough to escape their bombs...unfortunately, the damaged ship cannot perform evasive maneuver well, and a bomb strikes it amidships, turning it into a sinking inferno.

The remaining two warships escape with the transports, who had been safely at the other end of the island, and sail west to rejoin the fleet. Back on Katatung, 5,000 marines are now stranded, and their supplies will not last forever. Nevertheless, the island still remains under the control of Kuanesh.

But help was coming. Andor's assumption that reinforcements would take weeks to assemble was a miscalculation, as the marines had already been mobilized for expeditions west. It was a simple matter of sending them east instead. As reports come in from Katatung, an additional 5,000 marines are assigned to the mission, bringing the total task force to 15,000 men. Their mission changes as well: they are to proceed immediately to Katatung to engage the Andorian navy. The now 27 warships, which contain in their number all five of the republic's dreadnoughts, are to engage from the south, cutting the enemy off from escape. Once the opposition on sea is eliminated, the marines on land would board ships, leaving a garrison of 1,000 men, and sail south.

In the Central Pacific, on the archipelago now known as the Mangolis, the large contingent of marines is nearing the end of their part of the mission. The kingdom on the main island is unwilling to allow visitors past their port regularly, but an embassy is set up near the shore for the two nations to conduct business. The main Kuanese operations begin on the smaller islands of the archipelago, where the natives are friendly and offer little resistance to the building of small ports and military outposts to jumpstart Kuanesh's newest colony.

The Noctem Republic 

After the meeting with the African Remnants concluded, the council became worrisome of their new ally. A zealot nation may not be the best ally for the Republic, but for now they would stay true to their ally. 

 

With the National Trade Hub being completed, the effects on Noctem's economy is felt right away. It brings in a surplus of goods and most importantly Crowns. Noctem receives an additional +10,000 Crown  profit as for the nation it collects +30,000 Crowns from this years profit.

With the border expansion to the north complete the council decides that it is neccsary to keep expanding the borders of the nation, as 30,000 troops escort and clear the area of any Resistance for the civilians that are expanding the borders.

Mod Post

The Amerigo Expedition

The United Amerigo Republic's expedition into the Western Islands began rather smoothly, their deployed forces move through the first island rather easily, subduing it's people (most of whom are only small farmers, eager at the chance to open up their unique crops to sell at the Amerigo marketplace). This trend continued for the second island and by the time republican forces moved on to the third they had gained a sort of relaxed attitude about the whole expedition. 

It was an easy trip for most of the men, none really expected for there to be any trouble. The islands had been scouted before, at least most of them, and found to be relatively uninhabited. The soldiers onboard the Expeditionary Fleet had organized a night of celebration and most decks aboard the ships were lit up with celebratory lights and music. It was a time to celebrate, a time of great national pride.

As Republican ships approached the coast the soldiers drank and sang, preparing themselves for the easy expedition ahead of them. A few men danced on the deck of the U.S.S(?) Fortune to the tune of an old radio player, the songs reminding them of their youth and better times. Unfortunately for these men, and the rest of the men aboard the U.S.S Fortune, the music was the last sound they heard before an underwater mine exploded directly beneath the  Fortune, igniting weapons stockpiles and throwing the ship into the deep. The entire crew was dead in a matter of minutes, and the two ships trailing slowly behind it met a similar fate.



The remaining five ships blared their alarms, lighting off flares and a general wave of panic filled the air. Suddenly massive shells filled the air and the whirl of guns came from the coast ahead of them. Explosions rocked the sides of the ships and the night lit up in a storm of cannon fire. It was now up to the commanding officer to decide if they would push onward toward the island, or issue a retreat.

Transmedian Republic

The several diplomatic envoys and letters received by the Consul are ignored, the Triumvirate had opted to remain isolated and initiated a full isolationist policy. Instead, convoys of 15 ships patrol the waters at all times, watching for outsiders that may want to approach the island. Another group of 5 ships were dispatched to the island of Graecia in order to subdue to the island. [MOD]

The national trade hubs were complete and new sources of income begin flowing into the Republic. Traders from around the Transmedians come to the popular trade ports of Atenooi and Medinah which require port expansion to fit the expanding flow of trade. It was incredibly profitable and brought in an additional 10,000 Drakes of income yearly for a total of 30,000. 

As a result, the NATIONAL TREASURY increases to 55,000 Drakes and the queued construction of the Aeroplane factory begins.

A group of 30,000 men is deployed aboard the 5 ships sent to Graecia, most of whom have seen combat in the various rebellions on the main island of Helena. Duke Logar was at the one the deepest points of his mountain hold, no member of nobility ever came this low but today that would change forever. In front of him stood 3 machines made my the genius and maybe even crazed Baron Jacques. These monsters of machines had one purpose, to dig in the depths of the earth and make tunnels wide enough to send a train through and that was the future of the duchy. To build a railroad network so advanced that the ducal army could reach any point in the duchy in the matter of hours, at max a few days. But that was quite a ways away, today the project was in its infancy but the skeleton of it was already there. All the workers assembled looked up at their duke and waited for his signal.

 

Logar was not one for long eloquent speeches, preferring the direct approach almost always but today he decided to take the other route. “My people” he began “ You who will work beneath the earth, you who will dedicate their lives to this project, you are the ones building the future of our nation. So do your work with pride knowing that today begins a new era for our people!” At the end of his short speech his people cheered him and Logar gave the signal to begin and so the works on the massive underground railroad began.

Back to his keep Logar watched as Count Russ retold of his expedition to the Commonwealth and what they had agreed to. Negotiations went better than expected and Logar made sure to reward Russ for his service in the future after all good work by noble folk deserves proper compensation. After Russ finished the Steward Loius went on about how much money was needed for the railroad project and what was the best investment and so on, the Duke listened then gestured for the steward to do what had to be done.
