Greetings on this fabulous first of November.

So! This is a Your View on the upcoming Plugin; Territories. (This will be up in N & A for a bit for attention before being shifted to Your View)

To give a brief understanding of What is Territories?;

Territories will be the "Region Manager" system for LotC, similar (but with Key differences from) to Nexus-Regions. This will (and has been) coded from scratch with some things to be kept in mind and right now is about half-way complete. I, unfortunately, have nothing to show off here as the coding has been a vast majority of under-the-hood mechanisms (to a point that I haven't even put it on a MC server for debugging yet, just fleshing out the code base). Territories takes the concept of Nexus-Region's ability to give region owners fine-tuned control over their region but shifts the focus away from Claimable plots. While there will be claimable plots the mechanism and focus will be taken off of a multitude of individual plots and adding more mechanics and control to existing claimed plots.

Note; Nations with expansive plot networks are already supported in Territories and will be able to be controlled from a central location (likely a rebelling mechanic will be added behind the scenes for moderators to be able to use to assist factions which want to go this route of RP in a valid manner)

So, basically I need feedback. While the Code is very much coming along well there are some key things that are still subject to change and need to be fleshed out, and they should be in the poll above. Below I explain each question and why I have asked it.

Should Territories have a passport system like Nexus-Regions (User has build perms but doesn't count to plot size)?

Previously in Nexus-Regions a user could align on their persona to a main plot but could go and request passports to other plots so they could actually build on other plots but they didn't add to the population total for said plot (which gave benefits to the plot for the higher population they had)

Should plot membership be based off of Personas or Players?

This question basically states; Should a player be able to join only one plot (to add to it's count) or should they be able to join one plot on each of their personas?

Should Region Owners have the ability to turn off PvP (With a ~48 hour cooldown)?

In Territories region owners will have a lot of customization when it comes to flags such as leaf-decay, region greetings, mob spawns, etc. but the biggest one that is on the table is if a region can toggle PvP on/off within their region. Obviously this could be abused so it would be on a cooldown for turning on/off and monitored (likely against the rules to run into a PvP deny region during PvP and against the rules to turn off PvP in the middle of a raid/other PvP engagement).

Should Regions Decay (if a region doesn't have x population over x time it unclaims)?

Basically, in Nexus-Regions one of the very large issues was something dubbed "Plot Sniping" - where a region would become unclaimed either randomly or by someone leaving it or by it naturally decaying and someone would grab it instantly. This frustrated a lot of players, so I put the mechanic on the chopping board for you to decide.

Now; some writing questions for those of you who want to write.

Do you have any feature requests?

There's already a lot of cool small things I've taken the time to code that I'm excited for you to get your hands on, but I am one man! What do you want?

What were some of the things you liked from Nexus-Regions? What were some of the things you disliked from Nexus-Regions?

Basically, as this is a successor to Nexus-Regions it still takes some points from it. What did you like about the previous iteration? What did you hate?

Important Notice: This isn't a debate between using the plugin I'm designing and World Guard. This is me asking the community for feedback to making a system you might want to see, closer to completion I'll showcase the plugin and ask which do you prefer. For now, if you just want WG then don't worry about voting/posting.

I'd vote for yes to PvP-off regions if there were DESIGNATED PVPING STREETS. I like the idea, though - appeals to the whiny elf in me.

Perhaps a 'should we remain on worldguard' option ought to be available, also...

I don't like the idea of plot owners being able to turn off pvp. Its a too easy way to protect yourself from raiders.

Your idea to let a region decay sounds great in my opinion! I also think that ownership should be based of persona's.

On the note of turning off PvP, I see this as a wonderful way of making a place where PvP does happen, and places where PvP doesn't happen. This could just be a stupid idea from my stupid head, but RP'ers can go RP while the people who like to turn RP into a PvP circumstance have other places... But as i said a stupid idea from head... Unless its not... hm?

You know you can kill people with RP too, right?

Should Territories have a passport system like Nexus-Regions (User has build perms but doesn't count to plot size)?

That will be useful for builders hired through the forums or what not to come over, build and then leave rather than having to leave their own plot of land just to do a building job. So yes.

Should plot membership be based off of Personas or Players?

Players. I can just make 3 personas on my main account and put it on one region, then with my other 2 accounts put another 4 personas and boost a settlements membership status.

Should Region Owners have the ability to turn off PvP (With a ~48 hour cooldown)?

I think this will be abused and cause more of a fuss than anything. Get raided 'Oops I pressed the button' and the like will happen.

Should Regions Decay (if a region doesn't have x population over x time it unclaims)?

No, this was the main problem with nexus regions imo. Staff are doing a great job going around and seeing which plots are active and which are not active, if the system ain't broken no need of fixing it, ya dig?

Do you have any feature requests?

The pillar to put taxes into might be useful, or another idea being a way to store mina onto a region accessable by region mods and owners to use for their plot of land. This mina amount will also showup under the /wealthyland command or something to show off which plots of land have the bigger bank instead of basing it off all the players bank accounts.

Being able to know which plots of land also have the most members was pretty neat aswell, keep that in if possible.

One more thing! /regionprof shows off the professions and the current highest teirs in that region, so as I am an Angelic Enchanter and there is nobody higher than me in the region I am in then my name will display along with my profession rank. If there is a tie then a number of the people with that high skill level could be displayed instead. I think this could be a great way to gather data, find out which settlements work towards which profession and the like. Also good for showboating.

What were some of the things you liked from Nexus-Regions? What were some of the things you disliked from Nexus-Regions?

The pillar was neat so I didn't have to type /region addmember. I liked the taxes.
I absolutely hated how you needed a certain amount of members on a plot to protect it, I hated how if you didn't have a certain amount of people on the plot you would lose it and even more so hated how you had to manage who allocates their time on which personas to keep all the plots active. Do not add this feature, I will legit move to the cloud temple and never take part in anything again.

I find this system only good if it's controlled by nations.

Example, the Region decay. Very bad if other players can snip it. But very good for a nation to find out that no one is using that plot, and so removing the plot.

It is also good for making nations to make new plots. I think that should be the greatest part of the plugin. Allowing nation owners, or those with commands for it, to create plots inside their own nations. Anything outside nations needs the charter system.

Should plot membership be based off of Personas or Players?

Players, the days of Nexus plugins where inactive personas were used to maintain ownerships of plots should not return.

Should Region Owners have the ability to turn off PvP (With a ~48 hour cooldown)?

Yes, so much yes. This would be amazing for regulating the frequency of raids whilst allowing people to experience some QUALITY! rp fighting. However if pvp can be turned off then it may be worth reviewing rp fighting with a guide and perhaps providing some more rules concerning power gaming etc.

Should Regions Decay (if a region doesn't have x population over x time it unclaims)?

Yes, remove the empty snowflake towns in the middle of nowhere and centralize rp.

Do you have any feature requests?

Ability for nations to create sub regions independently. A tax feature so that taxes can be easily collected.

I should clarify!

This is not set in stone. This isn't a debate between WorldGuard and Territories, this is "I'm designing a plugin! I need feedback :)". A vote between Territories and remaining flat World Guard will probably come later, showcasing the benefits of Territories. I think you'll like it, personally.

Thanks for the feedback for everyone voting and posting! Particularly @DrakeHaze/Omnyaxle, excellent ideas.

I honestly see nothing wrong with the current regioning system. Why fix what isn't broken? Let's just keep worldguard.

Please read the above post! If you don't have any feedback then don't worry about it. This isn't a debate between WG/Territories

If this goes through and has region decay (which i hope it doesn't) make it so that when a region drops it doesn't become claimable, it goes under the nation leader and he can give it away.
