Another Team's Leaving

As some of you may know, the Media Team was passed into my hands after Aetosion’s leaving. With that came the responsibility of dusting off a team that has been left to their own devices for a very long time and seeing if there was anything to it. As long as I could remember, the team has been known as mostly inactive minus one or two exceptions and content was rarely seen.

 

After discussing it with my fellow GMs and Admins, we decided it was best that the Media Team be disband. This is something long in the making and has been on the thoughts of everyone’s minds for a while. The past leads have done a good job trying to get the team running, but it’s difficult to keep creative content running. Both for the leads and the makers. We felt that it was time to open content creation to the entire community, and not just keep it to a team.

 

I want to say thank you to all the MTs that stuck around so long. You guys have worked hard on videos and the content that /has/ reached the public. It just didn’t work out. I've already talked to a few of you about how to still create content if that's what you wish to do.

But with the disbandment of this team, a need for advertisement and content comes up. That’s where all of you come in! I understand there are many of you that are very creative and just happen to not have the time for a team. The GM team will be running contests throughout the months that will allow you to share content as we need it and winners will receive minas, tomes of knowledge, and other fun prizes. As well, your work could end up on our YouTube or other social media sites. So stay tuned for those!

If you are looking for pex to help you out in filming or taking screenshots, I am working with Dev and the GMs to set up a system so that you guys can get what you need. Look out for an update within the week and then you'll be able to modreq for the proper pex to help you out.

Horrible just horrible, why are you ruining the incentive for people to make art for LotC? So what if there are "a few" that sees the art? It's still there for people to appreciate and hardly the MT's fault for not being able to distribute it.  Look at Keem and her Inktober thread, she pulled people into making art. This is on you Read for failing the team, You have already proven to be quite inefficient with the things you do other than rolling out a post or two. 

Saying the team is inactive when you are in-fact inactive yourself, cease already.

Where's the Media showcase? Monthly newsletter with interviews or art? Just an art thread? Assignments? Christ, spotlights of certain areas with some lore attached to it?!

Rest In Peace the team I've been on for 2 years. Thanks for all the support that was given to us, especially all the positive feedback on the 4.0 Lore Abridged trailer. Jerry and I put a lot of work into that. :')

 

And with that, I speak my first post from not being on a Staff team for 2 years. Feels odd. And Sad.... Rest In Peace Media Team...

The Media Team was the most altruistic of our staff teams as it relied solely on its members willingness to create content at the expense of large quantities of personal time and effort. They had no power over their fellow players like the MAT or the LM. Nor did they have the ability to enforce direct change in the server like those of the GM and Admins.

As a photoshopper, I'm well aware of how tedious and complex the process of creating any sort of media can be. When coupled with an absent reward, the creative juices just stop flowing. A lesson we should all take right now is this:

Incentive and recognition for their works. If I make a nice RP event and someone compliments me on it then I will feel rewarded cause people enjoy what I just did. Removing Media team removes the recognition to get on a team because you are good at something and others enjoy the art and thus removing the incentive to do free stuff! That's why this irks me. :(
