How many players do you think can work in an event?

Did you like the old 'bounty board' monster hunting events?

Yes.

What is your opinion on PvE in events?

It.. can sometimes work. Elysium, it worked because we weren't spammed with wither skeletons. In Anthos, it didn't because 9/10 the events would end up killing everyone.

What do you think of allowing some events, such as dungeons and fights, to be repeatable to allow different groups to experience the same event?

I reaaally like that idea. :D

What is your opinion on large event storylines? How can they be improved?

... Eh?

How many players do you think can work in an event?

6 is always the best number, but 10 is a maximum normally.

Did you like the old 'bounty board' monster hunting events?

Loved 'em.

What is your opinion on PvE in events?

Hate it. More power to RP. Large scale world events could have PvE and be fine though.

What do you think of allowing some events, such as dungeons and fights, to be repeatable to allow different groups to experience the same event?

Yes. Yes please. I love you.

What is your opinion on large event storylines? How can they be improved?

Large is good, but maybe not AS large, and have more of them. Instead of 40-60 people in major events, perhaps go for 10-20, and instead of having 1 every.. 4024802 years, have one every 3508 years.

Id personaly like to see a bit more to allow more players to randomly become entangled with an event... It would make things a lot more intresting than planned events. Which i understand could be a bit taxing, but we're still LoTC aren't we?

Now, the main purpose behind this post is to ask you, the playerbase, as to what sorts of events you'd like to see come from the map.

Avaible also for new players, not only for already-experienced merceneries/adventurers/mages who are gathered just before event by friends via Skype. I think we can work out everything else.

How many players do you think can work in an event?

-Around ten to fifteen at tops, depending on the event. The more players the less story can be told.

Did you like the old 'bounty board' monster hunting events?

-I have not experienced it nor knew about it.

What is your opinion on PvE in events?

-I think they should be expanded upon and a battle to have more tactical aspects as well as "pit falls" that would trigger more waves and make it harder.

What do you think of allowing some events, such as dungeons and fights, to be repeatable to allow different groups to experience the same event?

- Dungeons is something that I still don't know why they're not there, lead by a staff member to follow the group and be the story teller with some loot at the end. A weeks cooldown to allow as many as possible to group up and try. Also have a different theme per cycle.

What is your opinion on large event storylines? How can they be improved?

- Not too fond of them, sadly it always ends up in the hands of a few special to save the world so I've stopped caring about what happens on a large scale.

Random encounters would be what we need!

How many players do you think can work in an event?

1 to 1000. It really just depends on how you execute the event. Some events, like the Aegis downfall etc.. Had more than 300 players participate. While others, such as an Event Team member emoting that an Apple falls on someones head from a tree, requires only 1 to 2 people.

Did you like the old 'bounty board' monster hunting events?

No. I thought it was a cheap way to attempt to make events more organised, and I found it to be a waste of time when it finished. It holds no real purpose other than saying that it is an Event.

What is your opinion on PvE in events?
They are great, but should be done with much thought. It shouldn't be the same thing again and again, but actually attempt to make it both have sense to it, and also not a hak 'n slash simulator.

What do you think of allowing some events, such as dungeons and fights, to be repeatable to allow different groups to experience the same event?
Yes, but again, don't make 1 time events that is supposed to be 1 time event, be doable multiple times. Put some thought into how you could make an event, which would make sense to do multiple times. If you have a troll in a cave, and the troll dies.. The Troll is dead, don't make more than 1 troll..

What is your opinion on large event storylines? How can they be improved?

Give more information to the average player, and don't just have the event have impact on 1 or 2 specific groups. Make it more understandable and make it affect the whole server in some way. And no.. I am not talking about another plague.. I am talking about something which would effect the way that people react to, for example, rain or the water around a specific island, or a place in the ocean known for taking down ships..

Tl;dr

Be ******* creative.

How many players do you think can work in an event?

Id say at most 20 people max can truly function with events, though this does vary on the size and importance.

Did you like the old 'bounty board' monster hunting events?

Meh, they were ok, gave you something to do.

What is your opinion on PvE in events?

Honestly could be better. I remember an event with Crazybloxer and his crew were we fought a basilisk, and that was pretty fun.

What do you think of allowing some events, such as dungeons and fights, to be repeatable to allow different groups to experience the same event?

Itd be interesting I suppose.

What is your opinion on large event storylines? How can they be improved?

I like large event storylines, just make the threat feel real.

Evening, Lord of the Craft!

After discussing it in today's Community Meeting, I'm wanting to get some opinions on what sort of things the community would like to see from the event map. That said, I'd like to begin with a short bit of information.

Details

The Event Map, currently going as '4.5.1' will serve as an event map. To make a comparison, the map will function much like the North did, in Anthos. This means that it will be exclusively used for events and event builds. It will not be settled by players, so there need not be any concerns of construction or the spreading of rp.

Lore-wise, it is going to tie in with the 5.0 map to a great extent. Details on this will be revealed as the events go on.

The map is a very large landmass, and it's going to be released in segments as the plot (and our builders) move forward. Don't worry - The first part is easily sufficient to provide many, many events.

( EDIT: read this before listening to the Community Meeting )

Is it a landmass as in another continent like and expansion to Vailor, or something like a platform where you're settting up many different event locations with different stories? Is this for one big story with different parts releaving themselves as we go?

And for large scale event areas, they're not always that great or worth the effort, as they would only be used once. Like the ridiculous tunnel maze with the different rooms and the giant dragon in a lava pit at the end. Me along with everyone else who I knew worked on it pretty much hated it and the whole thing didn't really make any sense to me.

I'd like to see one main story that we slowly explore, but has various options of outcome. Don't force the result or the story how it plays out. And on the side of it a lot of smaller events, could be events that have nothing to do with the main story or something that if successfully completed by some players, they could gain an advantage in the main story, or not. Dungeons, monster bounties, exploration to new areas, an operation to clear out an area of monsters or other threats and if successful the area could become a colony, small settlement or sanctuary/checkpoint for the story.

If this is going to be out way to the next map I'd hope that we actually "explore" the new map. And not just suddenly jump into it by sailing some ships. Similar to my previous idea, different areas with different threats or problems that need to be cleared or solved so that a group could then settle, or make a temporary base for them before continuing to explore the new world. While the racial capitals could have preset location where they may settle(if they want to).

How many players do you think can work in an event?

8 - 12 players would be ideal, to not oversize or under-power the groups going in.

Did you like the old 'bounty board' monster hunting events?

I was not around for these monster hunting events, but I am sure they were great! Bounty Monsters are always a good edition, especially when it adds experiences for those RPing as Monster Hunters and the like.

What is your opinion on PvE in events?

Being a Guild Wars 2 player, I feel that PvE is essential to a great storyline. Having us go to this new land, learn more about a previously unknown culture, discover new plants and animals, even learning new types of magic would really add to the immersion of it all!

What do you think of allowing some events, such as dungeons and fights, to be repeatable to allow different groups to experience the same event?

This would be an excellent idea, especially for those who live in different time zones!

What is your opinion on large event storylines? How can they be improved?

I think that large event storyline would progress the story nicely, guiding us towards a epic ending to this "Expansion" of sorts. Perhaps it could be improved by allowing multiple decisions or choices that the character/groups can make on their own, to drive their personal story in one way or the other. I also like the idea proposed earlier, that each nation should be allowed initially to discuss how to deal with these new antagonists.

As long as those seen as protagonist groups don't get special fortresses made for them in there while nobody else can, and events for them nobody else is informed of, I'm happy wih it.

How many players do you think can work in an event?

Preferably smaller groups around 3-10

Did you like the old 'bounty board' monster hunting events?

It was rather successful in general

What is your opinion on PvE in events?

Personally I dislike them, it relies far too much on minecraft mechanics.

What do you think of allowing some events, such as dungeons and fights, to be repeatable to allow different groups to experience the same event?

Depending on the event, possibly implement some lore that would explain the ability for multiple groups to experience the same event.

What is your opinion on large event storylines? How can they be improved?

They have the potential to be effective. If done properly, they should effect the majority of the playerbase in one way or another.

Those are two different things!!! (I did most of the terraforming for both huzzah)

In regards to those though; they were a huge pain to do with voxel/by hand/alone but both seemed to be used pretty effectively. The red realm wasn't used in its entirety though & a lot of the space ended up being sort of wasted.

In in this bed expansion there should be the attempt to use every corner of it. Not at once of course but pending its size I would like to see sprawling expeditions and the like.
