Your thoughts - Genderbending

Heya ladies and gents! Many of you may or may not know me as I've been playing on and off for four years now. Some of you may also know that I play a wide variety of characters. I've played every race available to me, some men, some women, some gay, some straight, some indifferent. Some of them having disabilities and some of them not. I just enjoy playing characters that can give me an experience i'll never have IRL.

Recently, i've been making all sorts of new friends and such, and many of them, upon first meeting some of my current characters (Current rotation is two grills and a dude) They assume i'm a female IRL, now this makes it an issue, not for me, but for them. (I personally don't give af what you are IRL) Just today, someone asked if I was a girl IRL, and when I replied with 'No.' They seemed... upset. It turns out they thought I was 'deceitful' for 'acting like a lesbian' (One of my female characters is female, and a lesbian .-. ) And now here I am, wandering if perhaps i'm in the wrong for wanting to experiment with character types. If I'm honest, I never thought of it too deeply... I just enjoyed the idea of creating a wide variety of characters to experience. I've always felt that was what RP was about, creating unique experiences you'll never have the opportunity to have IRL. Idk, let me know what you think!

Contrary to what most think, I am not a Blood Mage or Necromancer irl. I feel absolutely horrible for deceiving the community, and this may be seen as a public apology for my transgressions.

In reality, it's role-play, playing a character of a different gender honestly doesn't matter as long as you do it right.  Don't feel bad, only shitty RPers take RP OOC.

Do you. If someone has an issue with you being a male OOC, then thats their issue. You have fun. OOC =/= IC

This is like the issue in Cali atm.

No one really cares if you play a male or female character being the same/opposite sex. You do what you like and enjoy no one is going to hunt you down and yell at you for it.

This the stupidest debate Ive ever seen, it's roleplay. Your character is fake, there is no attachment to them. Everything in rp should stay in rp including getting off to pixel puss.

If you think you can faithfully portray a female character (or a male one, if you're a lady) then go for it. If its a realistic character with believable motivations and not some moving pin-up who exists for the novelty of having boobies then I don't care who plays it.

As long as you don't lie about being the gender you're not, it is fine. Purposeful deceit can only cause problems farther down the line.

I care about who you are in real life quite a bit, it changes my opinion of you, a prime example of this is when logs leaked of a certain player who enjoyed dogs a little too much, I found this player repulsive, he was not only toxic, but also just an overall terrible awful person, I would NEVER in a million years want to meet this person, hold a conversation with them, and I certainly would not want to role-play with any characters they portray, luckily they were banned from the server, and they're gone from the community, hopefully forever.

That being said, play your character well, and don't be an ass, then I don't care about any aspect of you In real life, you're free to play any character you want, so long as it doesn't ruin other players experiences constantly.

Anyone who thinks you deceived them are wrong, you were role-playing as a character that exists only on a minecraft server, and if people take that as an insult, then they need to back away from their character and stop taking the game so personally, sure, you can take it seriously, but no one should ever take it personally.

this is the reason this server is plagued by tranny fags

This is the reason the server is like middle school.

Seriously, if people are 'offended' by who you are versus what you play, they have more rooted issues in their lives. You just tell them you are who you are and that what they think won't matter to you. Distancing yourself from that kind of negativity will enhance your experience I'm sure heh. I've played with men who RP as women better than some women do (shockingly) and it's just how it is.

Moreover, if people are bent on knowing you OOCly in that matter, then uh.. well I mean they either wanna be friends or wanna be 'friends' if you catch my drift. That is not your problem, that is theirs.

Provided you don't use 'gender bending' to fulfill your sexual fantasies, I don't see much wrong with it. But many people abuse the possibility to fulfill said desires. This might be why the person took offense. We're in Medieval times, homosexuality isn't a common thing. (Whilst this is a unique universe, the majority of it is inspired from various universes where homosexuality is too uncommon or even unheard of) So this person might have taken the guise of homosexuality to be your method of fulfilling your sexual fantasies. Whilst I'm not accusing you, I'm stating that it may be the reason for their grievance.

As I said, I don't see a problem with playing a female character, I myself have a depiction of certain character roles (such as healers, herbalists..etc) being female. I simply see females as being the more 'kind' of character archetype and thus if I was to play one, I'd most likely be a female character.

I'm only trying to point out what this person may have perceived you as doing. Otherwise, I wouldn't have any idea of why they'd be upset by such a thing.
