[Dark Creature Spawn] The Sunless Sanctum

Greetings LoTC!

 

Today I am happy to announce the implementation of a new spawning area for all manner of dark creatures: The Sunless Sanctum. There has been a call for this for a while, and should offer some unique Roleplay. The Sanctum is essentially a Cloud Temple for spooks, or more specifically, characters with their race set to Spectre and Necrolyte. For those interested, here is the lore:

 

 

You may notice in that lore that it mentions Dark Arts users are also able to align themselves to the Sanctum. At the moment, we are able to remove and replace the underlying race of dark arts users and give them a placeholder 'Undead' race. This will remove racial perks but grant you respawn and SS access to the Sunless Sanctum. Again, this is a placeholder. We intend to give the dark arts users that align themselves to the Abyss a small number of new racial perks to compensate for these lost ones, however if you don't much care about waiting for that then dark arts users are able to PM me saying you wish to be aligned to the Sunless Sanctum with a link to your accepted Magic Application.

 

For Spectres, Necrolytes and Undead, your slot zero in your soulstone should now be assigned to the Abyss (the Sunless Sanctum) if you haven't already reasigned it. Failing this, simply dying will take you there. There is a SS pillar inside should you wish to bind yourself to it manually.

 

The same rules apply for the Sunless Sanctum as the regular spawn. This will be made apparent when you enter the region, but to clarify:

 

- You may not start or partake in conflict or villainy whilst inside the Sunless Sanctum.

 

- You may not SS or enter the Sunless Sanctum portal to escape from PvP.

 

- You may not warclaim the Sunless Sanctum nor its existing portal in the real world.

 

- You MAY enter the Sunless Sanctum if you find its portal regardless of race.

I am so glad I decided to get back into lotc recently!  This seems so epic!

I would be interested in seeing this implemented for more magic users in the future. A holy forest for Druids, a celestial temple for clerics etc. Would make the world feel much more immersive when it comes to death than "lol monks" and give players a greater attachment to their magical alignments.
