I believe our amazing map builders are doing everything they can and I really respect the amount of work they're putting in. I've learned that whatever date the staff sets for things you add on 3-4 months and there's your actual date. Why make claims you can't follow through with? I for one believe it's time for change. It's obvious our best interests are no longer at heart. If we're to remain cohesive we need to look to shuffle those in power and give the players a say in the direction of the server. I think LotC would be quite strong if the staff paid more attention to job #2. Vailor seriously disappoints me because of the missed potential in creating rp hubs. I think the entire debacle that is the map known as Vailor was a failure in my opinion... Yet, at the same time, I can't discount the fact a lot of people really, really like the Vailor map! Its unusual to me and doesn't make a lot of sense, but that doesn't make their opinion any less valid. There's a lot that could be improved about it though, yes. I don't think we'll ever have a "perfect" map. I don't think the Admin team made this change though to try and say they "improved" anything. I think moreso it is supposed to stand as a defined "direction" for their goals and what they do want to improve. I think it is supposed to be a sense of direction for them, though not clearly communicated. Was the department name change necessary? Probably not. But I think the main effort behind that is probably a change of the "Behind the scenes" culture, which reads more like a group of friends than any legitimate body of workers working towards a goal. I think the "Direction" underneath is probably moreso as Telanir has touched upon; Hoping to encourage teamwork, get the server staff to act as one (as opposed to 6 different parties all with their own agendas). I think it's unrealistic to expect change to occur automatically from this. The real test will be whether or not all this is just hot air or if it can actually be implemented and utilized properly, as I stated before we have a real issue with implementation of things across the board. So the real test will be where do we go from here, and will this be substantial at all or just hot air that doesn't lead to anything? Are the Mods and dept leads and what not physically capable of setting aside their own volitions and focusing on the entire server, the betterment of the whole server (and not just their own groups or agendas), and improving (with defined goals, as you said) around the block? If so, then the question should be: What is our goal for improvement? What should this theoretical new staff culture be aimed at fixing first? Is it community communication and outreach? (It can't be nexus because that's a dev-only thing sorry guys) Is it responding to and integrating player feedback with the server as a whole? Is it efficiency? Or should we focus mainly, above all else, on improving roleplay? And if the latter, whats the best way to go about doing that?
