The Peace of Ambrosa

On the 21st of Sun’s Smile, did the two adversaries gather in the neutral grounds of the Vizerain House; a once mutual ally that remained in remembrance to their mutual Commonwealth heritage. Why did once dearest of friends go astray, ruining the union for generations to come.

But in the wake of rebellious sentiment, political turbulence and financial decimation; the Duchy of Courland and the Carnatian coalition found no purpose in continued conflict. With good faith in the new Ducal leadership; a regent of pacifist and administrative philosophies instead of an expert of war and conquest, a mutual understanding was sought after.

After comprehensive agreements were made, a peace was made possible after all. The Laurenist Stauntons wished to be perceived as honourable, the Vanirs wished for an end to the draining conflict, and the Carnations sought new allies in the wake of the Eagle’s rebellion. With mutual interests to be preserved, the following terms were agreed upon;

The hold of Kraken’s Watch, once the proud seat of the Akrytan people, is ceded to the Vanir’s as by Imperial demand. However, considering the strong Staunton heritage surrounding the settlement; special privileges are given to every Courland official, citizen & merchant,which include;

  • Right of unbarred passage.
  • Right of Vendor (Selling/buying merchandize and owning commercial property.
  • Right of Judicial autonomy (Being tried by ducal institutions instead of the local native ones).
  • Right of Representation (The ability to nominate, run or appoint subjects of Courland within circles of governance.)

With these privileges in mind, a goal is set to one day unite the northern peoples on basis of a mutual ancestry and with that; the restoration of a single cultural entity and territory.

Lands within the territory of Kraija in the meantime is ceded to the Duchy of Courland as reparation to their loss of face and territory. These lands will directly fall under the authority of the Duke, who can use the territories to his wishes.

A total exchange of prisoners and reparations will occur to restore the prosperity of the northern realm, and minimize the damage caused by the petty conflict.

As a sign of gratitude and trust, the Imperial Crown has granted the Duchy of Courland more autonomy regarding vassalization.  The Duke is able to appoint regional governors & head of cities; who then can be granted a landed title by the incumbent Emperor if he finds no record of dissidence or criminality on the nominee.

The Duchy of Carnatia, the Vanir’s and Duchy of Courland will maintain a treaty of Ambrosa where cooperation and respect are key. This treaty will be a statement of intent for all sides to shape a worthy northern realm of peace and stability, so that strength can be found in these times of adversity.

Signed,

Duke Jan Kovachev of Carnatia

Lord Regent Percival ‘II’ Laurence Staunton of Courland

Baron Britannus Vanir of Kraken’s Watch

Britannus would note that Thire would be one of the leading causes of the peace agreement, laughing that the man who wished to destroy Oren would be the one to unite it against its enemy.

"Duke Aleksander never signed anything. How can they claim this is legit?" Theodora would wonder to herself as she hears news of this 'treaty'.

Camryn Lucimore, now an old man, would set aside his sword and relax in the Kraken's Watch barracks "Perhaps, this time the peace will prove more fruitful than last time. In any case, it is time to rebuild relations and homes both."

"Rebellion is so awesome, lads. An unified humanity is awful even though our hegemony is able to bring us into times of peace." Admits unknown courlandic patriot Klömin Rass.

"Not only have you betrayed this family, but you have betrayed the people of Courland. Shame on you, traitors and betrayers of everything we hold dear. Shame on you." Gavin Staunton retorts, hearing the news.

Theodora would be enraged upon hearing of the recent raid on Riga. "You sign a fake peace treaty then slaughter everyone?! You are monsters, you Vanirs. First you kill my father, then you evict me and my family, then you torture me, then you harass Riga constantly, then you bribe the Felsen Guard, then you kill Courlanders in Felsen, now you use a fake treaty to break into Riga? You are monsters, all of you. I hope you rot in Hell."

She would go back to tending to her newborn daughter. She would pray they wouldn't stoop too low and kill an infant, but she wouldn't be too surprised at this point.

"You mean defending our city from rebels? We're not monsters, you're the ones who would threaten our civilization and way of life." says Britannus
