Now, with the raid cap being 6 and the pvp default being 8 the defenders can only bring 2 people in to defend if they wish to keep it an emote fight, so for some groups this is a complete lose/lose scenario. 6 people attack, 2 people defend and get wiped, or 6 people attack, 3 people come to defend and it defaults to pvp, where they (read defenders) no longer enjoy the experience and get wiped. You'll see more scenarios of people seeing their place get raided, and either hide in rooms from the raiders, or simply log off for the duration of it. I don't even understand your logic here, It's not even fun to RP when it's just a clusterfuck that gets so bad that you can't even understand what's going on because people are typing too fast and they post their emote before you even finished reading the last one, and pretty soon you're just overwhelmed and behind like 3-4 emotes because they won't chill out when you ask them to in OOC. I absolutely would not be able to keep up with 9-10 players emoting, there is no ******* way, 7 even seems hard to me, I'd rather just PvP and force a conclusion rather than sifting through headache inducing emotes of powergaming because they don't wanna die. What do you mean? Some people dislike mechanic combat, due to their own reasons (Ex. Magic, Simple dislike, etc.) and would rather settle disputes through emote fighting, where they're more than willing to read and respond to large amounts of emotes going on. Also, there's been multiple instances (Roughly seven that I've been apart of.) where there has been six, to seven (A couple more showing up afterwards.) all part of one large combat scene, conducting it all in emotes where the players would only use L-OOC to explain what they were doing, and if questions were raised, were raised through private messages. In what you say, there is usually one guy who refuses to relax on the fast emotes, or someone like you who cannot keep up and wishes to go through with mechanics (Not trying to say what you can/cannot do, or like/dislike makes you any lesser or better than I, simply taking from what you've said.) to force through a conclusion faster than the alternate route. It usually comes down to who you are raiding, right? I mean, if you raid a group that you know heavily relies on their magic, and the majority of the player-base prefers emoting through their conflict (IE. Druids.), would you immediately request for a mechanic conclusion, or go through emotes? Honestly, the only times I wish for mechanics is when the situation has become an OOC pain (IE. Unhelpful party members, too much disruption, constant OOC quips, etc.) and in that regard, I guess you could call being unable to keep up as an OOC pain.
Malgonious 2758 Share Posted July 18, 2016 Holy **** no way you could do Rp Default with more than 8 kids no ******* way that'd be cancer
Neri 3590 Share Posted July 18, 2016 To be honest you should just go with what is both simplest and what causes RP to flow the best with the minimum of fuss. You shouldn't have to go into OOC everytime you raid or rob someone, that just ruins the experience and makes the act feel like it's instigated by OOC desire for the defending party. Naj 545 Share Posted July 18, 2016 Doesn't really matter. If I ever raid, Ill just bring the cap. 90% it'll be pvp.
mmat 7460 Share Posted July 18, 2016 At this point just do RP default to avoid the holocaust of 1.9 pvp. I can't believe i'm being genuinely serious.

Say I'm playing a guard and I spot another person (in the city I'm guarding) who is wanted for political reasons or another law that was broken (e.g. blaspheming against the Creator). If I'm trying to capture them, would I no longer be able to call defender default?

For political reasons I have purposefully excluded political stuff due to the vast differences across the server groups. Blasphemy and Treason is a very broad topic and it's hard to define, and easy to abuse. If they're in that position, you may still attempt to arrest and detain them - Physical Assault by definition only counts when you intend to cause direct harm to another person, as long as you arrest them without punching them in the face you'll likely retain the default. Now, however, the cap will be raised to 8+ in order to nicely fit in with the raise in the Raid Cap. As a comparative figure: Was: Raid 4, DD 7 Now: Raid 6, DD 8. This means, that when 8 people are involved in a combat scenario, the situation will automatically default to PvP. - This is, however, subject to change and may be either raised or lowered depending on how this reacts with the Raid Cap. Wait. Wait a minute here. Are you seriously saying there can be ONE defender before PvP is enforced? If you raise the raid cap to 6, and the max combatants to 8... There can only be one defender before it would be PvP default. Did you just... Not hear the complaints about how we'd like to be able to defend our home if we prefer RP combat? It was essentially PvP default any time anyone came to attack us before, now there's literally no way for RP to even occur, because if it were to happen, it would need to be one guy against six. And the Druids don't have PvP gear except a select few. So pretty much, Druids are screwed, because despite all our dangerous and defensible stuff IC, there's no way for us to win in this system. I'm sorry if anyone already brought this up, I just saw it and made a comment impulsively. Edit: And it'd be alright if raids were just an OOC thing for pixels exclusively or something like that, but no. People get kidnapped, cursed, murdered, have their stuff taken, their things destroyed IC... Sometimes when there are tons of guys around who would be perfectly able to stop it, but can't because we don't have the right pixels.

Also, if you'll remember about a few months ago, everything was PvP Default. This was discussed on the thread, and in the Feedback group. I'm not too sure, but I believe @Sky is a Druid and was a member of the discussion. I know it's not that great, and it's a bit shitty but this is ultimately the best number we could find which works for both RPers and PvPers. We don't want to see groups of 8 people RP fighting - It's messy, it's broken and horrific. Even 8 is too high of a number for RP fights, but we need to give the Roleplayers at least a chance in these situations. Druids are a bit of a strange circumstance here, as they refuse to build a wall and their RP defenses are a little hard to translate into PvP. I may bring this topic up in the Feedback Group, actually, and see how we can make the situation more fair for groups who this doesn't assist. - I will do this, yes.
