It's truly not that heavy of a burden on a ET to host a simple hunt, the most work is simply time put forth in running through the event, also as mentioned before common players can run their own basic hunts easily.

That requires you to contact and hope that an et is ready and willing which to be frank hasn't been the case from what I have seen.  Imagine if you have some strange time zone you are fucked, no et in sight. Running your own hunt is silly "wow" you caught a rabbit, on the other hand giant spiders are a bit more invigorating.

By running your own hunt I did not mean hunting rabbits and hares, if its not a LM approval required creature or is just any common animal. You can do a hunting event with it with your friends. Also an ET being ready shouldn't be an issue, hunting at most preparation wise is having a re-named item reward at the end. The course of actually running a hunting event is /vanish, /god, possibly /fly, and /dis (mob), and then simply picking a stretch of woods near where the hunting group is located and leading them there through trails left by animal, fighting/hunting ensueing, and killed monster at end with minor 'reward' distribution.

each day we drift further from god's light the rp server we once were

i mean those days weren't anything fancy but they were better than 'let's give the ET's job to some scripted beast'

A very slight mina drop increase, perhaps new kinds of food and skins/pelts. Also hunters can craft animal traps from an anvil and place it somewhere and after a while, they can check the trap to see if they've caught an animal and sell it to a breeder or something.

I have to be against the profession. It certainly is one thing to drop something off into a craft timer and leave to RP, but I think hunting mobs would be 'too mechanical' 

 

Boss monsters sound fun. No harm in a bit of mechanical fun. 

 

Like warclaims. Include warclaims into 5.0

Burden? How would it burden the ET team? I rarely see an event, and when I do it's 5/6 times a cliche "oh heck theres lots of spooky things to kill!!" which eventually gets solved when a paladin of the golden dildo of Xan comes riding in to 360 quickscope the c-creepy beings. I can hardly imagine making the same kinds of events to fill in your quota or whatever to be difficult, so please, do ""burden"" the ET with this.

That's very sad to be honest. A hunt done properly should be hunt no matter what creature you're hunting. As a hunter irl it's just as invigorating shooting ducks as it is shooting deer. It's about having to stalk the beast, the patience, the tracking, the social bond you form with your fellow hunters and most importantly the PRIZE ANTLERS/FUR/SKULL/ETC TO HANG OVER YOUR MANTLEPIECE, which of course will be the topic of many interesting stories to share at a feast, party or just a friendly invitation over to your place!

Why? Why would you enable hostile mob spawns? Why would you make a hunting profession? That isn't RP thats bouncing around in a circle and clicking. How the **** do you expect people to RP out side of a walled in city at night? As soon as it falls their just going to get hounded by zombies which will make it impossible to type any emotes. Jesus Christ a ******* hunting profession will take all the possible complexity and detail out of it and just turn it into running at mobs while clicking, my inner redneck is displeased with this.

Your description of how a Hunting Profession will work in more depth is a lot better that I imagined it might of been like, and the ET Monster spawning seems like a good and valid compromise.

Also this ^
Hunting events do not burden an ET member at all, they're basic things to host and run. Not much complicated matters to it and honestly pushes an ET to at least do something if they just scraped the barrel with meeting their quota for that week/month. I still don't understand why there is this common concept that Hunting Events are burdensome on Event Team members, hunting events were the easiest and least burdensome types of event to run during my time as an ET and I'm sure a decent few other former/current members of ET can agree.
