What if, instead of grinding mobs for the experience, it revolves around what drops from them?

 

Say 3 'Blinking Spider Eyes' can be turned in for X EXP or X Reward?

 

Like trophies drop from the monsters you kill that you can redeem for other things, from experience to decorative blocks, to mod approved items, etc.

 

This would make it so you don't necessarily have to go out and grind the monsters to 'level' the skill, players can collect and trade the drops. It'd create a sort of economy for these items. Those that just killed a zombie to survive and got  2 'Zombie Brains' and didn't want them can now sell/trade/give them away. Those that actually want to go out and level the skill, can still do so and grind on their own.

 

However, at the end of the day, the best way to 'level' such a skill would be to both go out and hunt on your own/with friends BUT also interact and trade with other players, creating RP.

Even though its a RP server, I miss some of the basic MC things, like mob killing. Like walking throughout the world and realizing its night and I'm alone in a dark forest with only a stick.

 

I'd like them to be there, a threat that can sneak up on you but not be like 'Sun sets 100 mobs attack you'. I think it'll help push for players to head towards settlements/indoors when night falls, which can centralize RP.

An overwhelming majority of players are asking for this. 

 

I don't see any reason to not implement bosses and unique mobs. Especially with the current tile system, we can easily implement it. It would greatly improve cultural aspects of that tile and of the guild/group/nation settling in that tile.

I don't think this would upset ET at all. At least, it shouldn't .  It doesn't prevent us from doing hunting events if we want to

Some queries:

Can these bosses tie in with currently accepted creatures within lotc's lore, or at least some of them?

Can it be designed so ET can summon these special bosses so we can use them in pve events?

What kind of customization are we talking? Need some more details..

If you want a good excuse in lore for zombies and **** to be around, go check out Aesop's "untouched" lore and maybe work that into the plugin: so undead monsters would spawn mostly by bodies of water. Since we're on an island type of map now, that'd add danger to settling too close to water.

Maybe we can get some comparable lore out there for underground-spawning undead. (GET ON IT AESOP)

 

Just try to work it into the server's lore as much as possible, imo people will enjoy that more than just "ayyyyyyyyyyyyyy lol monsters now". You can base the drops off the lore stuff too.

 

 

Blah blah I'm sure I'll think of more. Also don't make it so only high level hunters can combat boss beasts: the exclusivity of perks to overly high levels only obtainable by grinding is part of what everyone hates about nexus.

I'll write undead-underground lore as soon as the First Drowned are actually accepted. We don't know yet if the LMs are intent on blocking it for whatever reason, and I still have reservations about success even if backed by an ET member.

I like it. Most likely will end up decreasing the xp gained from actual killing but increase the xp for crafting hunting related stuff...but I need a name for a workstation

Yup! All of them are based around lore-approved creatures and their abilities are within range of what the lore says they can do

I'll add in a command or menu for et to spawn them

Customization as in they look different from default mobs, they have varying health and speed values, some abilities with emotes and some speech. Here's a video of one but it's very outdated

Maybe make it an armor stand-esque item? Like your mounting your 'trophy' and working on it? Idk, just throwin ideas.

Just another profession for people to grind into absurd heights without any actual RP implications or meaning. That's all I can really say.

Why do we need an mmorpg plugin on an RP server again? I've been asking this since I first heard about nexus. The addition of WoW monster grinding and mini-boss mobs so I can spam left click and strafe some more does not effect or enhance RP in the slightest.

Maybe have bosses tied in with event lines, so the mobs are fought PvE style, then the group progresses onto various bosses and ends up at an ET boss fight, making everything come together. Add traps the hunters can make, so then they can provide for their town without everyone having to use /bread every day

Hunting events are rare, as a Welf roleplayer we are centered around hunting and most ET dont like doing hunting events every two minutes due to people whining when they lose.
