Declaration of Regency, 1572

With a private issue keeping the Archduke of Lorraine from active service, it is by Lothar d’Amaury’s request that his brother, Jacques d’Amaury, assumes the role of regent. With this declaration, let the following be known:

 

• All responsibilities entrusted of the Archduke lay upon Jacques d’Amaury, and may only be revoked by decree of Lothar d’Amaury himself.

• Issues pertaining to the vassals of the Archduchy will now find themselves represented by Jacques d’Amaury, his new found authority to be used to secure the most favourable and just outcome in both direction and decision.

• Matters concerning prospect vassalage, Lotharingians abroad, and all other concerns that require representation of the Archduchy will only find Jacques d’Amaury, or whomever he shall delegate as a representative.

• Upholding the functions of the Imperial Administration, any responsibilities now seeing themselves left unserviced are now Jacques’ to maintain.

• Should Lothar be unable to return to his roles, Jacques will remain heir to his titles and the responsibilities that come with them.

 

Hereon after this decree, this shall serve as the legal document affirming this coming regency. Under the guidance of God, with the approval of the Emperor, and for the betterment of Lorraine, may this regency see nothing but success and the maintenance of the high standard which has historically been set by his predecessors.
