All degrees of power and damaging capability can be altered and designed before implementation. Powergaming from these guns would be like powergaming from bows and crossbows.

Essentially, this. There isn't one real criticism of having primitive firearms in terms of 'powergaming' that can't be applied to already implemented bows and crossbows. It's a technology that would, to my mind, really add a lot of flavor to the world while changing its dynamics absolutely minimally.

As some have mentioned before, a number of fantasy universes where they still use swords and spells co-exist with primitive, flintlock firearms, so this concept of it 'ruining the theme' is total bullsh*t. Nobody here has ever advocated for steampunk 'magiguns', AK-47s, semi-automatic weapons. It's a marginal technological advancement that could provide a great deal of flavor and interest into a progressively dull RP world.

They can only be so inaccurate. Unless you are suggesting Fallout Some-How-Miss-Literally-Point-Blank weapons.

Yes. That's how inaccurate they can be. Arquebuses are problably a bit less inaccurate, but still. These weapons are no m1 Garand. Their range is medium close range, the real danger of them in war and the civil war weren't bullet shots, it was what came after, the Bayonet clash. That's the goriest part of a weapon.

No, they cannot be that inaccurate. That is impossible. I don't think there is a single weapon that will miss a human target from three feet away when aimed at center mass.

I don't know what this argument is about lol

Feel free to go to a range and fire one at 3 feet away. With black powder for increased effect.

Allow me to say, I'm not saying they miss every shot, I'm saying the inaccuracy per shot is considerably higher than any weapon of the late 1800s, early 1900s. Including those of the time. Flintlock pistols were not battle pistols, they were dueling pistols, made for the rich, and not for the soldier.

Those that have denied firearms disgust me.

Your immersion means precious little in face of our server narrative. Reconsider your vote or reconsider the survival of this community.

Oh please. It isn't even time for firearms. Where are the damn rockets, fire lances? Why are we jumping to firearms? Why even firearms and not some different technology? Why not something unique and novel? This is not a historical story and so we have no obligation at all, none, to even consider firearms. We can develop airplanes before gunpowder.

and the entire damn point of this game is immersion. Immersion means the very reason people play.

Also like, expanding on what the below said, imagine a magic user without half of the restrictions. I'm not against it in the future but firearms would seem out of left field and shoehorned in.

we're talking a technology of the 1600s, rockets are of the 1900s, fire lances only lasted for a very short while. We already have steam boats and cannons. AND WE ALREADY HAVE FLYING CITIES.

Flintlocks are too advanced thats why I said no.

You must have mistake Flintlock with Matchlock. Matchlock I would be fine with as its both inaccurate and hard to reload.

Who are you and why does your opinion matter? Consider that before conjuring another primitive rebuttal.

You're being a child.

So? I'm not being snarky, but legit question, so what? We are not beholden to real life. We have magic and flying cities after all.

Exactly, and I like arquebuses and so on, why can't we have them if it is just another addition to the fantasy, integrated with a magical type origin, such as runes or something more accessible.
