It is the regret of the Crown to inform the populace of the assassination of His Imperial Majesty, John IV. With his death, the Duke of Marna, Prince Robert Henry of the House of Horen, accedes to the throne as first in the rightful line of succession as Emperor Robert II. More information is pending.

Outside the thundering sound of hooves on stone cuts through the silence of the night, followed by the crashing of the iron gates coming down. The Adunian pushes out of his intriquately carved spruce chair, walking down his hall to the windows overlooking the courtyard of Serpentstone. His grey eyes look down upon the soldiers returning from their patrols, the courtyard glowing with the torches held by them.

Good evening. 

This week, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were the glue that holds the empire together, father and son two great emperors. Truly a strike to the heart of all true orenians in these, despicable acts of terror. These acts of murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed. Our country is strong.

A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of Oren. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of Orenian resolve. Oren was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining. Today, our nation saw evil -- the very worst of human nature -- and we responded with the best of Oren. With the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could. But make no mistake these acts of horror and treachery will not go unpunished. 

This is a day when all Orenians from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. Oren has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.
