Open Letter: Hey there, old friend.

Hey man,

 

After all this time, I wonder how your life turned out to be. We both carried a heavy backpack around in our daily lives, this was our escape, two like minded people who were close but in reality so far away, surrounded by a world which we could shape and bend to how WE wanted it to be. We were inseparable and did everything together, who thought that two people from such drastically different backgrounds could have such a strong bond.

 

Here we were a force, beat all the odds and toppled nations. We weren’t exactly liked for various reasons, the select few that decided to stick with us quickly realized that we were actually quite nice, just a zero tolerance policy for bullshit. We were authentic, and that’s why we were hated and loved.

 

We shared our lives, I knew who you were, you knew who I was, then told me you may be gone for a long time never to return. This was rough, at the time being a teen and in a foreign country all by myself, it wasn’t an easy pill to swallow.

 

At one point I found out who you really are, and I didn’t confront you about it because I thought you may vanish again, but in truth I really didn’t care and just wanted to share with you some laughs and positivity, like we always have.

 

You returned a few months thereafter, and then vanished to return again. I knew what you had to do and never held it against you, but I did start to question at some point if I might have done something which made you vanish and ignore me after.

 

I have moved on with my life and become an adult, but in order to close this chapter it would give me solace to hear from an old friend that he’s doing ok.
