Skittering in the Deep

The expedition halted before the cave. A thin wall separated them from continuing, though in a matter of minutes the industrious dwarves had dug through and made an opening. Spearheaded by the Grand Marshall of the Legion and the Dungrimms Folk, the dwarves sallied into the newly discovered extension to the deep roads.

But it was not empty. 

 

Many signs of intelligent life was discovered immediately.

 

 

The dwedmar of Urguan spread out and rummaged through the chests, soon finding goblin-made armour. Knowing they were in for a fight the expedition stuck together and pushed forth, deeper into unknown territory.

After breaking through several barricades, the dwarves came upon a cavern with six cages inhabited by cave trolls. As they fanned out the trolls became increasingly agitated. It did not take long before one of the trolls knocked the gate to its cage down, and charged the dwarves.

In the chaos that insued the goblins attacked. Seemingly coming from the walls, the Grobbi came at them from all sides. 

They made quick work of the scouting party, and Grilthram the Slayer slew the troll with ease. Leading the party of trackers was a Goblin captain, who had hid behind his fellows until he was the last Grobbi standing. Captured and pinned, the dwarves managed to coax a few words from him;
"Mi am peepz da Horde! Dey kom from fallen roks! Dey flat ztoutz!"

Shouting at the top of his lungs, the goblin was making a huge ruckus and soon a thunderous roar of footsteppes coming closer was heard. They executed the Captain and formed a shield wall, battering through the wall of goblins that once again came upon them in massive numbers.

This time they were simply too many for the expedition.

They pulled back through the tunnels back up to Kal'nikaer, but not before losing many dwarves in the process. As they hastily blocked the entrance, the last words uttered by the Goblin captain still rung in their ears.

"Dey Horde komz fer latz!"

Jorik would wearily lead his men from the cave and back to the city

 

"Rest up men we will beh' back"

Olenna Ireheart would clean the blood of the goblins from her axe with a tattered cloth, watching  all the while the local leatherworker  as he began on her wedding armor.
