Act of Disfranchisement, 1592

TO OUR BELOVED SUBJECTS,

On the 17th of Sun’s Smile of the 1592 the year of Our Lord, the once noble and prestigious people of Savoy attempted, with malicious intent, to assassinate and dethrone his Imperial Majesty, Philip I Frederick for the purpose of pure insubordination. Refusing to reaffirm their vows of loyalty in the presence of His Imperial Majesty and his court, the men of Savoy drew their arms and proceeded to exclaim vulgarities in an attempt to destroy the Imperial government. Let it be known to all that such an action was an attempt rather than a completed deed, for the rebellion was swiftly quelled with the utmost haste by the loyal and stalwart men of the Empire.

As a result of such, Section IV, part B-2 of the Imperial Ten Tables has been thoroughly conducted by these conspirators. This clause within the Imperial law codex is stated as follows:

Where an individual knowingly aids or abets enemies of the state, participates in armed conflict or espionage against the state, attempts or conspires to the usurpation of the government, or attempts or conspires to murder a member of the imperial government, this shall be treason in the first degree or high treason, punishable only by execution as listed.

Furthermore, the Crown shall note that this act of insubordination has not been the Duchy of Savoy’s first. The Crown would like to remind the citizens of the Empire that the people of Savoy have attempted similar acts during the reign of the late John I with the vile plot known to history as the Taxman’s Conspiracy, resulting in sedition against that of the Horen dynasty and a failure to defend the Empire against the ranks of Dunamis and that of the now destroyed Vanderguan.

Similarly, this endeavour, to subvert the authority of the Crown which has protected and sponsored them, having shown ample mercy to their personage in their past errors, has occurred during the middle of an armed conflict with the vile and oath-breaking dwarves. Though these traitors may have claimed to espouse the virtues of Exalted Owyn, any educated person knows that Owyn himself, who smote nonhumans and heathens rather than turn on his countrymen, spits on such racial treason as he watches all from the Seven Skies.

Thus, the ONLY fitting punishment for any individual whom participated in the attempt is immediate execution. In the past, the people of Savoy were offered a respectful olive branch only for the Crown to be offered a sharp blade in turn. As such, the Crown can no longer, in good conscience, allow Savoy to remain unpunished.

  • The following houses and members are hereby stripped of all lands and titles, completely and irrevocably disenfranchised:

    • House de Savoie

    • House de Aryn

    • House Crast

  • The territory of the Duchy of Savoy is hereby dissolved, the land therein reformed as the Duchy of Mardon and granted to His Highness the Duke of Marna, Prince Peter Sigismund, second son of His Imperial Majesty, by virtue of his blood claim over these lands as maternal nephew of the late Jon Renault.

  • His Exalted Grace the Archduke of Lorraine, John d’Amaury, is hence entitled with the titular recognition as Duke of Savoy, thereby entitling his person officially, by the Emperor’s command, Archduke of Lorraine and Savoy.

  • Those remaining Savoyard landowners who yield their land to the Crown peaceably and proceed to bend the knee in fealty and apology before His Imperial Majesty shall be permitted to go free and be offered pardon for their treachery.

IN NOMINE DEI.

His Imperial Majesty Philip I Frederick of the House of Horen, by the Grace of GOD, Holy Orenian Emperor and rightful Emperor of Aeldin, forever August, Apostolic King in Oren, of Savoy, Kaedrin, Haense, Renatus and Salvus, Defender of the Faith, Duke of the Crownlands, Avar, Frederica, Krajia, and Cascadia, Margrave of Greater Kreden, Count of Johannesburg, Louvain, Beauclair, Sundholt, Estavar, and Wett. Sovereign of Humanity, Suzerain of the Elves and Protector of the Dominion of Malin, etcetera

Ser Caspar's long-deceased liege lord sighs heavily, chiming in "-Sad!"

"Sonsabitches...-our enemies abroad mock us on this day when men turn on each other. I mourn for the loss of life, even if they were traitors. Let GOD decide their fates in the afterlife." Ser Rakim says to himself.

He gave out the collected loot from the fight to his brothers in Death's End. Perhaps in spirit Savoy could be put to use to combat the undead and the Urguanites. Their gear is sure appreciated by those who fight the good fight against monstrosities seeking to destroy humanity.

"Where is the humanity in butchering other men of god? What does the creator think of this?" Asks a pius Westerlands man-at-arms. "Has humanity lost what it means to be human and what sets us aside from beasts? Where's the humanity!" He cries out as he ventures to prayer.

"End the Empire, the Emperor can't even spell, Blood for Ashford." Shouts a semi illiterate Savoyard peasant.
