+ THE BURNING OF JOHANNESBURG +

In the final hours, the Emperor would have his reckoning. In the final hours, Johannesburg burned. Some rejoiced, some wept, some instantly perished in their loyalty to the Emperor's lost cause. The earth tore asunder and fire licked the edges of Johannesburg, consuming all inside. An entire era and generation was consumed in that moment. Years of an Empire's legacy, wealth, dominion, and history, wiped away. For loyalist or rebel, for who's plight it matters not: the world would not be the same.

And as the sun sets on the Johannian legacy, a sun rises above a freer world; for better or for worse.

Anna Sophia Amador would sit beside the Empress-Mother, holding her hand as she wept into her sleeve. Their family was gone now, but never forgotten. Though Philip had soured to her in the last few years of his life, she had never forgotten the innocent, shy boy he had been as a child. She felt pity for him, and for the children & wife he had left behind.

The final view of Hanno Yar, caught not in the blast but rather victim to the ground beneath him giving way. His head caved in from the fall before his body was taken by the flames of the last Emperor.

The discernment that a woman used to say and warn others about has came true. Though she was rather busy kneading and rolling dough as her children ran about the house with giggles. Herself with a warm smile as she hums.

"The Westerlands sure feel a lot colder without the warmth of the Empire in the East." Caius thought, pressing his chin into his hand as he'd be washed away in pensive thought.
