Application Team Log

= February =

 

New Application Moderators

We have taken on a large load of new Application Team members. This brings the team up to 12 members (which is the optimum number for now). This now allows each manager 4 members to oversee and train.

 

The newest members were again chosen between veterans and new blood, as per the advice from the managers and my personal choice - these are the picks;

 

Rella101 has made great efforts to assist new players in the Wandering Soul chat and asking GMs to TP her over to whitelisted players as to guide them into the server. This and her written guide on the forums made her a good pick for the team.

 

Pieman101 received support from team members and has demonstrated a desire to help new players by hunting the wandering soul chat for lost newbs, another interesting choice.

 

Imi is an old veteran of the AT and has been welcomed back onto the team. This was an easy pick.

 

Cordial was suggested by managers with praise and has been given a chance to working on the application team as well.

 

Trintea was another choice for new blood on the team. Being a very friendly person, she will certainly do well in helping new players.

 

Z3m0s is an veteran AT from my own timezone, increasing the coverage in the Aussie area for those newbs down under.

 

Rammer was suggested by management as well, as a member of the community who knows their lore quite well and will be able to direct the new players.

 

New Player Data

This month, the majority of accepted applicants joined as humans again (>50%). The remaining were mostly elves, though a much smaller proportion. There were no halflings this month. Orcs were the third pick, followed by Kharajyr and Dwarves.

 

It appears that orcs were evenly distributed, while elves are as usual mostly wood elves - though more people applied as dark and high elves than elves without a subrace. Most humans applied without a subrace, followed by highlanders. The only dwarf to join the server this month was a Cavern Dwarf.

Due to the blacklist from Mojang, the amount of applications dropped drastically, with a total of 102 being lodged in February. Even more of these were accepted - with only 28 being denied this month. The great majority of pending apps also went on to being accepted which is also desirable.

In February, it appears that almost no-one from the Austral-asian area joined the server, and an overwhelming majority joined from America. This is clearly expected, but it is strange to see such a small proportion of Europeans.

Team Data

As the team size was of 12 non-managerial members this month, the quota was set at 5% to ensure at least 60% of applications were covered by quota. As can be seen, the team members with the most contributions were Vaynth and Jandy (once again). This month though, there was a severely lower amount of applications available - so quota was not strictly enforced..

The new members to the team were added half-way through the month and were not expected to meet quota anyway. Jlyoko and GoldenSaint2 likely were unable to meet quota due to the combined effects of the added people to the team and the blacklist - which has caused some to go on hiatus for a while until the server is back up.

 

Team Projects

This month, thanks to the manager overhaul, we have three documented projects led by the managers. Leslie will be moving forward with adding some ‘beginner lore’ to the wiki and on a thread in the Whitelist forum - this on top of finishing up the team feedback survey she passed around to team members during February. Coolio will be working on a racial showcases for new players to have a more learned-choice when it comes to choosing the race they apply with. Finally, Luv will be working on giving the AT an extra character slot to play Cloud Temple monks or some form of mentoring character for new players.

 

Once again, no player retention this month - this time due to the fact that the blacklist would muck with the results… Once everything is back and running, I will endeavour to get some player retention stats up again.

Doesn't this bring a startling realization that LoTC is not pulling a sizable amount of new players like it used to? More so, it's more frightening to look into the activity of those players as it is apparent that our retention is at an all time low. None of these players seem to have stuck around for longer than an evening or two.  This is certainly a pressing matter that deserves prescience.

I find your pie making ability lacking old friend. For one, the data of a zero is stated for the Kharajyr (which in itself doesn't make sense as zero holds no value of percentage) and yet the halflings do not, as well as the fact that clearly from simply glanding you can notice that the data which has zero is larger than that of one, even though basic math dictates that one is bigger but in this pie chart, there are more zero than one. Tsk tsk tsk.
