The heartland of the Caliphate, once a great green savannah stretching from Al-Wakhrah to the Vandorian mountains, had become a scorching waste, bleached white beneath the southern sun. The Horde of Dunamis, crown jewel of the continent and seat of Richard Revlis, now lay in smoking ruin, her people strewn from Blackwater Bay to the northern riverlands. The mightiest keep in modern history had been twisted into an impenetrable blight on the land, a spite toward the Imperial aggressors who now slept at the bottom of the sea, quietly carried to their watery graves by the morning tide. The men’s bones lay scattered across the ruin, but their souls still lingered, eternally battling in haunted silence. Storm clouds cast a shadow over the battlefield, and from the fortress of Ard-Ghorrock the scene hid behind an opaque sheet of grey rain. A lone mounted figure stood witness to the aftermath from afar, his horse perched on a cleft beneath the Vander castle ankle-deep in snow. The man sat in meditative silence until a faint thunderclap renewed his senses. He turned and left the only home he ever knew, never to return. 60 years later 10th of Sun’s Smile 1608 Nothing had changed. The world turned, battles were fought, men good and bad alike died, some with meaning, some for nothing. History repeated itself. But at the same time, everything changed. The Empire that subjugated half the world and half the races beneath her boot was no more, shattered into pieces that now vied for control over one another. The world went from oppressive order to chaotic freedom, a proving ground for the strong, cunning, and ambitious. In these times the spirit of Dunamis was rekindled in the young Matthias Revlis, who, guided by the spirit of his grandfather Richard Revlis, would strive to restore the Revlis name and once more set alight the bright star of his ancestors.
