"Thats how you thank the Kingdom that gave you your duchy, one you did not deserve, yet Late Tobias and myself helped you to keep it. You disgrace the memory of Amelia. Your Emperor should not trust you anyways, first you betrayed Lorraine and now Courland. Weak men value no oaths to survive." An angered Romanos would bark from his keep upon hearing the news.

"Funny how the moment a power shift occurs, weak cowards like this switch sides. They'll no doubt switch sides again some day." John Pasquier would angrily shake his head, downing a bottle of ale.

"We escaped a sinking ship. This decision will protect our children and our children's children for years to come. Us staying would have only prolonged the inevitable. It is people like you, who are weak - too stubborn to see the truth. Now drink your ale, sit back, and watch your kingdom turn to rubble before the Empire of Man." comments a sneering elf.

"I'm with the Empire, my family always has been. What I don't like is men changing sides just to seek power. If they were worried about their children, they could send them into exile with someone. We do not need these unloyal men in the Empire."

"If we sought power we would of denounced ourselves from courland and develop a fully pledged kingdom before joining the empire, as to where we decided to stay a duchy. Why send children into exile? They are far too precious to put in harms way. The Empire would protect them best."

"A simple lie, Hefron and I can care for ourselves very well and I'm sure my younger sister can as well. You see our house swore an oath to the Stauntons and you betrayed them like you betrayed the D'Amaurys. All to garner favour with the Emperor and gain more power, like you did with the former King Tobias. How did that work out?" Dion de Savin would angrily and spitefully state.

As Daedalus overheard these faithless words, his face would boil up to a shade of blood red, his eyes cold and narrowed. He would draw in a single deep breath, before bursting into a heated rant, "How dare you question your father's judgement! How selfish can you be to deny it? For it is by his wisdom and by his choices that has allowed you to rejoice in the luxuries of nobility. It is to him that you owe your very life and service, not firstly to strangers on false thrones, but to your father and his Duchy. The sacred bond declared by blood upon birth, is of greater divine value than the oaths sworn to outsiders! If you dare make such naive accusations again, you shall be sure to face the judgement of God for breaking such divine bonds." He would stop abruptly, his face relaxing slightly, before continuing in a far calmer tone. "Now, be careful of what you say, for one day you may feel the burdens of the state upon your shoulders, and then you'll finally understand the stakes at hand. After all, you wouldn't want to be a hypocrite, would you?..."

"Wisdom?" Dion would scoff. "My father may be cunning but he is not wise. Family maybe important aye, but I've sworn an oath to house Staunton, as has my father. We wede the outsiders and the Stauntons accepted us and raised my father to the title of duke, only to backstab his masters when they proved 'weak'. It is the snake who will face gods judgement and not I." He'd tell Daedalus. "I will be more than honoured to serve my Kingdom like the loyal knight I am, unlike my father."

Daedalus would chuckle at Dion's weak counter, "If he is not wise, then you are his most foolish mistake. Your brash naivety has not allowed you to understand the hypocrisy of your response. You speak of honouring oaths, yet you continue to disregard your most principle blood bound vows and duties. And you say that you shall serve your kingdom? What kingdom? Are you not also now a fair subject of the Empire of Man? Even the worst of rulers are shrewd enough to know when to concede, hopefully that 'puppet' of yours does too." He would finish as he packed the last of his belongs for his trip to Aeldin.
