501 and Telanir: Attacking decline one step at a time

YOU are the problem. Can you be the solution?

 

I am not posting this out of any ulterior motive, I just want to half enjoy the server again for the limited time I am on it. Please at least listen and loosen your rigidity. YOU are killing the financial performance of the server above anything else in your efforts to keep it.

 

 

 

A fragment of the good old days when roleplay and competence, not MMO god gear decided war. It wasn't perfect but it was better than we have now.

 

 

Even this type of ******* hilarious teamspeak cancer in the Fringe was so fun because it DIDN'T REQUIRE GRINDING. You just got a set of iron and off you went. I remember battles in the fringe that went on into the double figures of hours. Between these little battles RP would take place. It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't soulless crap.

 

501warhead and Telanir. Many other people and I want you both gone from the admin position, but the likelihood of that is low. So I offer an alternative. You are clearly resistant to unanimously supported ideas for a reason, which may be that you believe Nexus keeps the server funded as many leaving posts have shown. My argument is that the server decay caused by nexus has resulted in less players and less engagement, therefore also less donations. Why would someone donate to a server willingly if there is no engagement? You are effectively hindering your own aim.

 

I made a short, simple thing for combat in LoTC which has 3 aims:

  • Destroy the unjustified primacy of hardcore grinders when compared to competent roleplayers (PvPers with little interest in roleplay 3v15ing soldiers because they don’t have top tier gear)

  • Make the combat system more accessible to new players (Right now, new players have next to nothing and are TOTALLY dependent on their group, if they get one. When compared to players with multiple diamond sets who can blitz newbies - Also stupid crafting regulations)

  • Hopefully partially reverse the decline of LoTC both as an experience and financially, though this will be a hard task.

 

Nexus has become bloated and terrible, eroding the server and hemorrhaging players even more so than usual. None of these are obviously stationary and fixed, but are just ideas to be thrown around.

 

  • Remove all diamond weapons and percentages - Leave only plain iron weapons and everything below that. Revert as far to casual vanilla fringe era pvp as possible.

  • Remove obscene crafting times. It shouldn’t take half an hour to make a damned armour set. This is NOT farmville.

 

Weaponry -

  • Differences between weapon types such as warhammers causing concussion at a chance, etc.

  • Keep timers GONE. They are cancerous.

  • All iron weapons should be equal in terms of damage. One iron sword should not inherently do more damage than another per hit. SIDEGRADES, NOT UPGRADES.

  • IF skills are to remain, simply make the increased blacksmithing tiers benefit the durability of these weapons. Maybe have a chance to add Unbreaking I, II or whatever. Perhaps let warhammers gain Knockback I.

  • Allow bows to gain infinity and MAYBE punch with woodworking level

  • FIRE ASPECT AND SHARPNESS ARE OFF LIMITS

 

Armour -

  • Revert armour to vanilla defence, with blacksmithing levels gaining unbreaking or maybe projectile protection.

  • Remove armour weight - It is cancerous

  • PROTECTION IS OFF LIMITS.

 

Kickstarting a recovery

Dealing with the problem only stops the decline, some help might be needed to restore some semblance of good. The staff are more than capable of giving this.

  • Incentives for effective leadership. Can a player maintain 10-20 players and perform high quality roleplay? Give them some iron supplies to help them - This will obviously need to be refined.
