@Telanir my good sir what do you personally think of nexus

Yeah but it's not even comparable to that Fringe WC that froze for 10 minutes and then crashed the server and even people's clients. Or the siege of Barrowyck where people literally had 8 minutes ping before the two sides even confronted.

I tried to get rid of it for a good year and a half so I believe my opinion on it is known. It's a really big job so I couldn't finish before admin duties overtook any time I had left for development. /obelisk in-game to see my effort on the matter.

Make leatherworking armors % based on skill level and not on the luck. It took a long time and MANY stacks of wool to get aengulic, and i only got 1% more damage on the helmet than the one i made when i was fair. That's clearly a BS, even if archery armors directly influence damage.

I know a lot of people still play here so I wouldn't expect anything to change on my account, but I would offer my perspective on the matter for anyone to link to people perhaps to read that might actually be able to do something about the matter.

I've tried off and on to get back into LotC recently, and I realize there are variables like being busy, the community changing, different maps, different characters, different lore, etc. as reasons to may be disenchanted with the server and not play on it any longer. The thing is though, I've been playing since Aegis, and this isn't the first time I've taken a break and it's not the first time I've tried getting back into it.

The biggest point to make however, is all of these problems existed before as well, yet I still popped in and somehow even ******* got GM the last time. Still don't know what you guys were thinking on that, glad nothing exploded. Too much.

Anyways the reason I'm laying this all out is I want to establish I've gotten my hands dirty, I know what LotC's like to a rather scary and admittedly humiliating degree. This isn't anything new to me and it's certainly not something that would make me shy away now.

What does, is the grinding. Because I've done it, oh boy have I ******* done it. One character, alone, was an aenguelic woodwooker as well as an aengeulic enchanter AND daemonic blacksmith. I've done the ******* grinding. And nothing puts me off more than having to do it the **** again.

You know why they have that in MMOs, to keep you there. Do you know what keeps us on LotC? The ******* RP. I don't give a **** what kind of sparkly bullshit sword I can make, oh black ferrum homagosh yis, seriously I don't care. I care about RPing the commission for the item, I care about getting an appropriate item custom to the RP of the commission not some cookie cutter 'special' sword with default 'special' text and a higher percentage to compensate for my lack of actual applicable reflexes in a game where the combatants are a slightly under-budget lego fan-movie with half the ******* frame rate on this forsaken server during a warclaim.

I'm getting off topic.

I can't jump into a new character knowing that anything I do that doesn't involve me smashing skulls together is for naught because someone's had a literal year head start on me in the grind fest. Everything else about nexus from a practical application is amazeballs, that archaic game mechanic to incentivize monthly subscriptions and activity time on games older than the alpha of minecraft however, needs to go.

Please, I want to play again and not feel like I'm wasting time while RPing because it's not actually 'progress'.

Literally the reason I am still on the server was because when I was new, this guy reforged my broken falchion, and I was like ******* astounded, and enchanted by the RP, it was so ******* cool, he did role-play and fixed up my old rusty chipped blade, then I lost it, but I didn't care because armor was so easy to get that no one cared when they died.

Now everyone just devolves into a salt-fest because enchanted Iron armor takes like over 8 hours to make a full set, then 8 hours or more for the enchanted weapon to go along with it, in an instant, people lose 16 hours of work, and longer if they have an enchanted bow, or potions.

Remove nexus professions and crafting.

Nexus is a good plugin itself. It provides interesting crafting system and makes people specialize in specific profession. It's fit for a grind-focused MMORPG.

That said, I don't understand why it is a thing in LotC. It is not engaging for new players at beginning, when they have to grind for hours to fend for themselves, are limited to craft only certain items, on top of being restricted to choose only 2/3 professions. That time is off roleplaying and generally interacting with others. What I've seen is that Nexus has received negative responses as long as I've been here (2 months) yet seemingly nothing has been put into motion to change it. If I can give something positive to Nexus, I'm fond of its crafting menus.

I generally agree what others have said about how nexus has changed PVP.

100% agreed lol. I got to both Aengulic Breeder and Aengulic Woodworker in Vailor. All it did was confirm for me that my time was better spent RPing than grinding. Sure, I'll be looked down on by the PVP-centric crowd and inevitably crushed in a warclaim, but if the price of winning is to spend my days micromanaging the grind instead of just enjoying RP, then **** it.

Remove the system that is grinding, it awards time spent not Roleplaying on what is supposed to be the "Number 1 Roleplaying Server" and discourages people from Roleplay. If you want to fix this server the first step is removing the Skills Plugin and giving everyone an equal playing field in terms of item quality and how it is crafted. Revert back to the Anthos styled system where the only weapons and armour were iron, admittedly I will miss the durability of my diamond sword but there is nothing to be done about that. Then and only then we can address the RP problem with the server.

Alright I guess it's time to contribute another story about nexus is bad for roleplay etc.

So back in the day in Athera and Vailor I used to grind enchanting (and to an extent blacksmithing) loads. Every morning and every night I'd log in and swap over my enchants. I did this for many months, and honestly the desire to remain in the top of enchanting was big factor in keeping that routine (and me logging on quite often).

Then one day it just stopped

I realised that there was no point in playing the server just for the grinding. Sure it's cool and all, but now when I log in after a 10 month hiatus or something it just becomes unbearable to think of having to go through all of that effort again, for what? I doubt anyone actually wants to grind, but they have to.

Even if the admins are adamant with keeping nexus, which I understand, please make it so you can at least get somewhere with minimal effort so people don't have to no life and instead have fun doing rp or pvp. We do need a skill plugin I agree, but having one overly restrictive that resets after less than a year is super demoralising and not appropriate roleplay server when people spend hours not roleplaying but instead grinding. Look at McMMO for example, that isn't overly restrictive and rather focuses on benefits. Moreover, I'm sure there is more creative ways to get donations in if that is what the staff are keeping it around for.

Come to think about it an McMMO-like skill plugin will be much better than either having nexus or no skill plugin.

I have had 0 fun interactions from Nexus so far, everything that can be rped will be rped, and maybe alchemy can be separated from it since it plays such a vital role in both combat rp and pvp.

And the fact it keeps resetting every map annoys me, since all the work done within a year will always go to waste. So why even bother trying?

Nexus has always been a dreadful thing for the server. The ideas behind it sound good but they simply don't work for a roleplay server. As someone mentioned above, the most beneficial system would be to reintroduce a mcMmo-esque plugin solely based on the benefits of higher skills without resulting in too much of an rpg system (e.g. higher drop rates would work) and removing all restrictions placed altogether. It's simply ridiculously detrimental to roleplay to restrict things and require grinding.

Grinding shouldn't be something any player feels like they have to do but rather people should be able to develop skills for the benefits they bring if they choose to. Rp shouldn't be guided by your plugin profession, it's ludicrous to do it that way.

Nexus has always needed, and still does need, to go BEFORE 6.0 launches so we can tailor a functional and beneficial plugin to perfection before it flops. Get rid of it and get a simple benefit-driven system in its place without any of this crappy PVP-altering, mechanic-altering bs that's plagued the server for too long.
