OFFICIAL DECLARATION | In Regards to the Massacre at Tahn Docks

~ To the People and Kingdoms of the Realm ~

For many years, Veris has stood behind the freedom of speech and ideas. We have ushered in peace within our walls by accepting any and all; spooks and thieves included. Different backgrounds and beliefs mean nothing in Veris. However, we must condemn acts of violence when we see them. The massacre at the Tahn Docks today at the hands of a turned Aengul have shocked many of us in the city. Many of us - including myself - were there when it occurred.

We write this decree to the world with utmost respect for all those who lost their lives and loved ones this day: We fully support the Ascended and Cleric Orders for their unknowing role in this massacre.

The Holy Orders had no knowledge of this massacre going in and lost many of their own to the treachery of their patrons and turncoats. The Nation of Veris stands behind them and offers asylum and aid to any who are either of their orders or supporters of. May the Light Guide us through these troubled times with the full might of Veris prepared to defend these Holy folk at all costs.

Signed,

A. Hawksong, Minister of Diplomacy

Reading the announcement, Haila sighs in relief, much of the stress of the situation of today's events lifting from her mind. She caresses her infant son Luthais and relaxes in her bedroom.

"At least some people have a brain...good to know we're not fully abandoned out there."

"Though so many are quick to blame, he has done us a great service today." Victoria Vientos would nod, showing the missive to her father.

The High Princess of Veris enjoys an idle walk about, taking in the good weather the day was presenting and thinking over a few ideas when various citizens and guests approached her. Some came with blessings and thanks while others expressed exclamations of disagreement in regards to the declaration. In response Ella Dune gave the most helpful statement she could.

"What?"

"I already didn't like the looks of that fragment, and what little trust I carried for them disappeared right at the mention of Gazadriel," Nemir said to herself, dusting the shelves in her laboratory beneath The Library of Dragur.  "Always best to remain cautious."

*Viessa stumbles across the declaration, and reads it.*
"Hang on, there was a massacre?"

"It was awful, sweetheart," said one Jeska. "Men and women pouring out that portal there, before it collapsed. Most were killed even before then. Too many died to count this day."

"Their zealous nature led countless denizens of Axios to their early graves. Peasants, lords, and guilds only concerned with themselves given like lambs to the slaughter at the call of a cleric. They are a blight to society that continues to mistake itself at the cost of all those around them. I can deal with necromancers and their spawn with sword alone. I need not for them." comments a furious Dane.

Ral, Lord of the Craft, looks around as he awakens from his godly stone golem form, surviving the massacre. "I told you so." he states, flipping all the corpses off as he goes to find something to eat. "I ******* told you so." he states one more time. He looks around one last time as he repeats his words. "Mesmodyne wanted to kill us all. Asmodyne wanted to help us. What did I say? **** the Ascended." he states for the last time.
