The Ire's Fall Part II

Gror Ireheart sat in his seat in the senate chamber, awaiting the arrival of the Senators to begin the meeting. He sits silently for a moment before the silence is interrupted by a visitor. Gror slowly turns and faces the figure before smiling. "Grundaf, my old friend... I thought you were upset with me why have you come to visit?" Grundaf made his way to the balcony, overlooking the throne room. "Nae Gror, I wish only to speak with you about pressing matters within the Kingdom." Gror chuckles, rising from his seat and making his way to Grundaf's side. "Aye of course, what can I do for you?" he says as he stands by the old DNN reporter. "Gror, the world is changing... I am changing.... You are changing." Gror nods in response "Aye that is true... I am proud of us, of what we've accomplished. But what is your point lad?" said Gror as he turned to face Grundaf.

"This is for the good of the Kingdom!" he shouted as he thrust his arms at Gror and pushed him off the edge. Gror barely managed to turn to meet the Dwarf's gaze as he fell, a single tear escaping as he gasped for a breath that could not be attained. Petrified from the shock, Gror fell to the floor of the throne room without a sound. The silence broken only by the sound of body meeting stone. The Grand King's broken body lay on the floor. Gror is quickly surrounded by many familiar faces. From his old friend Aldal, to his old foe's flesh and blood, Verthaik Frostbeard. Aldal, fueled by rage sends his stone fist flying towards the nearby wall, chips of stone sent flying in all direction. Verthaik, however, remaining calm out of respect for his old enemy, slowly kneels down to Gror's side. "I forgive you Gror, though we never saw eye to eye, I forgive you for everything." The last words uttered as the life faded from Gror's eyes. The Frostbeard reaches down and closes them with his final words "May he rest in the halls of his fathers." The dwed carry Gror's body to the temple where they lay him before Dungrimm's shrine. A few words are spoken but everyone falls silent as Verthaik steps forward to speak first. "Though he hunted my Clan and we never stood side by side. His spirit should know that if ever Urguan came under attack, the Sons of Jornheim would gladly be there to help. For while we were never on the same page, we are from the same Dwed... we are kin." the Frostbeard finishes with a mighty roar "Narvak oz Gror!" His shout is followed by many more, bellowing from the figures of Ireheart, Hammerfist, Grandaxe and Frostbeard alike.

Gror will rest in the halls of Khaz'A'Dentrumm.

Letters would be discovered, addressed to each of the following.

To Aldal Ireheart

Spoiler

My dear friend Aldal, you have been there for me through thick and thin. You helped me bring our clan back from extinction and for that I could never repay you. But most of all, I could never repay you for your unconditional friendship. I will always be with you in mind or heart.

To Hogarth Irongut

Spoiler

Hogarth, you were my most trusted adviser. I could come to you with anything and you'd gladly give your opinion on it even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear but rather what I needed to hear. I will miss you dearly.

To Darek Hammerfist

Spoiler

Darek, you have grown so much since I first met you. Your father is no doubt proud of what you've become and I can honestly say I am as well. Keep on creating the Urguan we both envisioned.

To Lodbairn Emberhorn

Spoiler

Lodbairn, I am saddened that I only knew you for a short time. I would've loved to have known you longer. Your clan will only grow stronger and my prayers will go out for you from the halls of our kin.

To Verthaik Frostbeard

Spoiler

If this letter finds you, it means I am dead. I wrote this long in advance, your father still lives as of now though after tonight I expect that to change. I am sorry Verthaik, I never wanted this to happen and I hope we will not meet the same fate as Kerwyr and I.

To Javier Ruric

Spoiler

It is you that I owe the largest apology. My old friend in Norland, I left you at the mercy of the Romstuns when I should have defended you with all my strength. I can only hope that I have done enough to right this wrong.

To The Ascended and Clerics

Spoiler

I hope you will stay within Urguan. You have made our city a brighter place and I have rather enjoyed my time getting to know you all personally. Farewell my friends.

To Charles "The Bald"

Spoiler

My most loyal guardsmen, you never went off duty and that honestly impressed me. Thank you for your service.

To Thorir Grandaxe

Spoiler

A hero amongst us, you saved our city many times with your courage and bravery. I leave you with a small reward of three thousand mina for your incredible display of everything a Dwarf should be.

To Jorik Grandaxe

Spoiler

You taught me a lot of what I know Jorik. My first and only Grand Marshal. I salute you my friend.

He had returned to the Grand Kingdom to serve his Clan and Kingdom with honor. But so soon to reunion and joy was sorrow. He huffed a sigh, remembering their adventures and discussions, the Dwed scrunching his nose.
