I think people severely underestimate how expensive a developer is.

To the donation system people are suggesting. I suggested it in a previous post however i'll narrow it down.

if people wish to donate a monthly subscription to the server to help pay for expenses (be it for a coder or other reasons) the players themselves get small packs that'll corporate with EULA, one of these things I suggested on the Github page as "particle packs"

https://gitlab.lordofthecraft.net/lotc-public/LotC-Tracker/issues/210

These particle packs can be handed out as 'gifts' to people that choose to donate per month rather then pay a set price put into place by Nexus.

To further clarify what I said previously. We rack up a sum of money. Then after a sum has been reached you hire an outside coder to create some friendly plugins for the server. I do understand the rate of programmers as I am one myself, though if you have even 10 people chip in $10 a month that'll be enough to hire a programmer for 4 hours of work which I believe is enough time for one or multiple plugins to be made depending on the demand of it all.

If not, then you wait another month and get $200, ext.

-

Also if you give players who donate packages/kits for donating such as I refereed to particle packs. To 'player skill-resets', ext it'll be an intensive for people to toss in some money.

-

I did say however that these monthly donations don't all have to go towards a programmer and some can go into the servers well-being.

hi, i don't possibly understand what programming you do if you can get a good piece done in 4 hours... 4 hours isn't enough to do more then useless plugins. People constantly sh*t talk LOTCS dev team, But most of those guys are experienced, It just takes them time to code things as most LOTC players are students. No, 10 people chipping 10 dollars a month is not enough for any good coder, I'm not a good coder but I know that it takes time, you want a good plugin then you'd never get it with what you suggest.

I've coded the base of a complete ios game in 4 hours, although basic and needed improvements it was done.

To javascript/java/sprigot minecraft, i've coded a magic plugin with visual affects using particles in only a few hours.

Mostly it'll just take time for an outside coder to work with the Nexus code.

I am not saying that coding is easy, though getting some little plugins which can bring a good aesthetic to the server would be just as good as a high end plugin.

Money can rack up in an account and then eventually pay a programmer to come-in and work on some things.

10 dollars

The $10 a month from 10 people was not anywhere near an accurate estimation, in all likelihood, the number will be much greater, the $10 from 10 people equalling to $100 a month was an example.

To javascript minecraft,

Tell you what you complete the dev team trial plugin in 4 hours with passing grade and I'll set you up a Remove Nexus and Remove Kowarhead Patreon or whatever you want.

I shouldn't be on this thread. People here are upset and it's fine to be upset and it's important to let the staff know you're upset but I think most of us realize on some level these ideas are unfeasible. $10/month doesn't buy you control over what plugins get put on the server. And also like it or not someone's skill at coding is not up to debate.

abc

I am not in this thread to remove anyone, I appreciate Kowaman, 501, the whole dev team. I like Nexus.

I was suggesting an alternate person to come in to create 3rd party plugins and or work with the nexus code to implement it in themselves for little/big plugins for the server. I am not trying to debate an issue and or argue.

I am not saying I like some things have they done, but I am also not saying I dislike the things they have done. I'm going to remain perfectly neutral as to avoid screamers, which I may already get, but whatever. Just screw off. If their doing a horrible job, then leave this shat hole. If what everyone is saying is true, LOTC won't be around for another year, and if it is, it'll just be a remnant of what it once was. Oh, and one more thing...

Because one person doing a horrible job means that suddenly the place many people have invested years in is awful and we must abandon it. I mean, what even is that logic. That's like saying "Oh ****, Trump is elected, better immigrate to Kazakstan and abandon my family, friends and everything I've worked for." No, you make your opinion known, protest and try to change things.

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SOMEONE, DO NOT JUST HOP ONTO A THREAD CALLING THEM OUT, NOR MAKE NEW ONES. SPEAK TO THEM DIRECTLY. BY SCREAMING IN THIS THREAD YOU ARE LEGITIMATELY CALLING YOURSELF A COWARD AND JUST ATTRIBUTING TO THE CHAOS THAT IS ALREADY HAPPENING. YOUR LITTLE COMMENTS DO NOT AFFECT ANYTHING. BRING IT TO THEIR BOSS, OR THEIR FACE. OTHERWISE, IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO GET BACK TO ROLEPLAY.

You are so clueless I don't even know how to adress this properly. This has happened dozens of times, I've done it a couple times with shitty staff members and I know a lot of other people have. You know what happens? Nothing. The person says "Yeah we'll look into it." "You're wrong." or just ignores the PM and with no traction behind your complain, nobody gives enough of a **** to look at it. This is a highschool, unless the people at the top have their popular image threatened, you really think they're going to move?

Shitty mods and admins have always been removed by popular threads and the opinion of the community as a whole being made public. Case in point, SerenityOnyx, Capt0z. So don't waste time posting when you have no idea what you're talking about.

You're the ******* clueless one. Do you know how many threads have been made about Kowaman, or 501? A **** ton. Times are changing. Clearly you need to get with the program, friend.

And countless threads were made about those two too. You don't seem to understand that these kind of things pile up until they boil over.

I promise you that will not happen unless either of them directly harm the administration team or development team itself. They both run the server- and frankly, neither of them have done much wrong except for a few retarded moves that we can all make.

10% of developer time is spent on making new features. 90% of developer time is spent maintaining existing existing code. It's a reality you run into when working with a large codebase that's had multiple developer contribute to it over a number of years.

I know this, which is why I suggested getting a coder to work on new features.
