Am I the only one to find it ironic that neither actually code anything, to be completely honest I would prefer that the server just gets a patreon or some other form of income from the playerbase beyond the donation store and use the money to pay coders to make things the playerbase actually wants, not only am I sure that if we requested a plug-in to be made that it would be exactly what the playerbase is asking for instead of random pet projects that nobody wants, but that we would have them in a timely manner instead of soon™

I'd legit put ten bucks down on it per month

I wouldn't mind an LOTC patreon. My donation literally gets me nothing anyways. Server can count on 10/m from me as well.

A paetron is a very bad idea it'd kill what little recruitment we already have.

You're only willing like I am because we've been playing for years. New players won't be interested in paying to join; it's not the norm nor is this some massive server everyone is hearing about. This is a niche server, have to run it like one.

Not if it isn't a condition to play though.

This is not actually true. I will not speak for them on the matter, but I am pretty sure that they still code. I know for a solid fact Kowaman does because he has coded me some things before to help in my moderation work.

I think they mean making it "If you wanna" not "Conditional to join"

aka: Various people want to help the server the patron can rack up $$$ then when a goal is reached they pay a coder to come on and make some plugins.

No coders, no server. They also legally have the right to take their code with them, so be careful.

I don't believe they can take the code. I believe it belongs to Tythus LTD once it is implemented.

Do you know what patreon is? it wouldn't be pay to join, it's a subscription based donation site, extra emphasis on donation. The way I imagine it would work is those who sign up for the patreon would get some sort of bonus for their subscription, something like voting on what plugins should be payed for and in what order, or possibly access to a newsletter detailing upcoming plans before they are released to the general community.

They do not own the code, they sign an agreement to give ownership to Tythus.

edit:

To the donation system people are suggesting. I suggested it in a previous post however i'll narrow it down.

if people wish to donate a monthly subscription to the server to help pay for expenses (be it for a coder or other reasons) the players themselves get small packs that'll corporate with EULA, one of these things I suggested on the Github page as "particle packs"

https://gitlab.lordofthecraft.net/lotc-public/LotC-Tracker/issues/210

These particle packs can be handed out as 'gifts' to people that choose to donate per month rather then pay a set price put into place by Nexus.

Other rewards can be given but this could be an improvement to the server, i'm not saying Kowaman and 501 + other coders/devs are useless they can stay on the team to make sure everything collaborates and works together though this can be something that can work with the players and be engaging.
