I code a lot of behind the scenes, and moderation plugins that GMs have requested - nothing most of the community really interacts with. I manage the development team, and I help out other staff affairs when asked. I'm not in the wrong for helping out in other areas of the server. I do my job here, but I like to have fun and do other things, though I don't go forcing my way into them.

I have to agree, just because someone can code does not mean they have the level head to hold authority, and not to abuse their powers. Coders should code and be restricted to the bare minimum ingame commands to aid in that, and should not be treated as any sort of moderator without being individually approved for the appropriate team.

I think they mean making it "If you wanna" not "Conditional to join"

aka: Various people want to help the server the patron can rack up $$$ then when a goal is reached they pay a coder to come on and make some plugins.

That's fair then assumed it would be mandatory, yea that certainly couldn't hurt.

Am I the only one to find it ironic that neither actually code anything, to be completely honest I would prefer that the server just gets a patreon or some other form of income from the playerbase beyond the donation store and use the money to pay coders to make things the playerbase actually wants, not only am I sure that if we requested a plug-in to be made that it would be exactly what the playerbase is asking for instead of random pet projects that nobody wants, but that we would have them in a timely manner instead of soon™

don't overextend it hurts the legitimate argument about the antag

No coders, no server. They also legally have the right to take their code with them, so be careful.

This was the case a while back when Kowaman threatend to sue Tythus and take his plugins with him I believe, only god knows why he was allowed back on the team after this but after this i think all devs are required to sign something which says plugins they implement belongs to Thythus LTD.

I think people severely underestimate how expensive a developer is.

Oh no I mean donations to keep the server up and running.

I think a lot of people are overreacting. I'm not going to comment about the antagonist or the actions/lack of action by 501 or Kowa. I will however state that removing coders is probably an over reaction and a stupid mistake. It's a mistake of emotions really, peoples tempers are flared and they are lashing out in anyway they can. Don't let one or two people taint an entire team of people who DO work tirelessly to better the server quite literally for free. The last thing this community needs is a monthly payment.

Edit: I should clarify, removing the coding team in favor of a patron.

They do not own the code, they sign an agreement to give ownership to Tythus.

Thanks for clarifying.

I mean I wouldn't pay for patreon, seeing how I'm 15 with no bank account and my parents wouldn't let me

But if I ever got a job, a bank account and a good pay

Sure as hell would, it helps keep the server afloat with new things, by (JUST MAYBE) More experienced MC coders, and I mean, not to be rude but sometimes it takes more than just a couple coders to get what we really want.

That's not what we want, what we want is in addition to the existing coders, who we feel should hold only the coder staff position and no other staff positions, that we should also have a patreon that we utilize to pay professional coders to create things that the current coding team has consistently put off for years, like the magic plug-in for example.

Based off of the quick skim of just this thread that's a confirmed $30 monthly income to be put towards the server, now imagine how many people are likely to subscribe to this patreon, if even 10 people do it, thats a $100 monthly income for the server to be put towards upgrades, fixing problems that the server may have, and hiring professionals to do what the current coding team either does not currently have the skill to do, or what they aren't willing to take the time to do, perhaps this money could be used as an incentive to pay our own coders to take the time to create some of these large tasks that they currently aren't willing to undertake.

Fair enough thank you for the more thorough explanation. Maybe if we did server 'gofundmes' towards goals people could donate to that or perhaps take percentages of donations. The idea isn't very thought out as to how we would choose the plugin, or w/e it is, but it may be possible to do forum votes over a period of time to decide.

501 is an administrator, whether you all like it or not, until the other members of the administration team see fit. As much as you may not want him, I do not believe he should be limited to just coding, as that is not his only job. Deal with it. You can produce argument for Kowa, I guess, but even then, not really, he's a developer. Yeah, you can say, "**** him bruh he added this plugin that meh fren didn1 evan say YAS toooo! Now ima go scream on da forums and- wait, whats that.. REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!". Yeah, you can say that. But you can also say that he has made some VERY good and VERY useful plugins for this server.

I am not saying I like some things have they done, but I am also not saying I dislike the things they have done. I'm going to remain perfectly neutral as to avoid screamers, which I may already get, but whatever. Just screw off. If their doing a horrible job, then leave this shat hole. If what everyone is saying is true, LOTC won't be around for another year, and if it is, it'll just be a remnant of what it once was. Oh, and one more thing...

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SOMEONE, DO NOT JUST HOP ONTO A THREAD CALLING THEM OUT, NOR MAKE NEW ONES. SPEAK TO THEM DIRECTLY. BY SCREAMING IN THIS THREAD YOU ARE LEGITIMATELY CALLING YOURSELF A COWARD AND JUST ATTRIBUTING TO THE CHAOS THAT IS ALREADY HAPPENING. YOUR LITTLE COMMENTS DO NOT AFFECT ANYTHING. BRING IT TO THEIR BOSS, OR THEIR FACE. OTHERWISE, IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO GET BACK TO ROLEPLAY.
