[Archived]LOTC Donation Drive

Hello!

One thing that I am really passionate about and want to encourage as many people to do is to donate to try to save lives, and while donating money is a great way to help charities, physically donating is often one of the best ways you can change someones live forever.  I am an organ donor and a stem cell donor (bone marrow), and even though I am terrified of blood it's my aim to give blood this year.

These usually cost nothing, take up very little time and make you feel really great as a person.

LOTC is such a big community, that if we all signed up for blood donations, organ donations, and stem cell donations, we could potentially help shape hundreds of lives. We are such a diverse community that we have a wide range of criteria and blood types that are needed.

There are many different ways you can donate all over the world, so I'm going to be listing a few places and websites by country.

(Please leave me some links to donor websites in your country, I'll add it to the list!)

In return, I'm going to be offering free skins for anyone who can show me proof of them joining a donor list, or that they have donated recently. I've also got some random steam keys if skins aren't your thing.  https://www.planetminecraft.com/member/imibee/

~-~ I hope we can all do something really great and selfless together to save lives. ~-~

Another important thing to donate is plasma. They separate it from your blood and return the red cells back to you. Centers pay donators a small amount of money even for each time you go as the companies make medicine with the plasma they get.

The only downside is if you've donated blood/plasma you have to wait a recovery period before then donating the other.

Places like CSL Plasma in the US have more info on their website.

One doctor says yes, the other says no. So it's in my file that I cannot donate in any form. I just have to wait for rules and regulations to change officially.

I am currently in a position I cannot donate for several months. However, things people can do in america is sign up to be a blood/plasma donor, bone marrow donor, and even organ donor should their life ends. Very few people will do bone marrow and its the biggest thing we need as it saves lives in luekemia patients.

This is the website for the blood transfusion service in my country, Northern Ireland (part of the UK, however doesn't use the same website.) I'll be going to give my first donation next week and I'm also of the firm belief that everyone should be taking max 30 mins out of their day, twice a year to go and help to save lives.

Sorry for your loss, you have my condolences. I already donate blood once a year, but reading your post wants to make me up that number. I'll finally sign that sheet that gives all my organs away if I would get in a "horrible" accident as well. Thanks for spreading awareness!
