THE ASPECTIST SUPPORT ACT OF 1657

TO SUPPORT AND FOSTER THE PRIVILEGES OF DRUIDIC FAITH

15th of the Amber Cold, 1657

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Aspectist Support Act of 1657 is to ensure the growth and stability of the Druidic Faith within the Dominion of Malin. While this bill does not force the religion upon the citizens of the Elvenesse, it does seek to offer certain benefits to those of the Faith.

QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify for any and all provisions under this bill, you must account for all of these requirements:

I. Practice the Faith of Aspectism actively. You may follow the teachings of any Circle recognized by the Elvenesse Federal Government.

II. Be recorded by any Circle recognized by the Elvenesse Federal Government to be an active member of their Faith and Events. Records must be by organized docket, not word of mouth.

III. Be a citizen of Elvenesse.

IV. Own property in any Elvenesse recognized District or Vassalized State.

Any who are found to reap such benefits as listed below without qualifying will be fined 1,000ന by the Treasury’s Department of Capital Fraud.

ARTICLE I

Aspectists will be granted a tax free year every four years. This entails that for one year per every four, you may choose to skip the payment of your property. Simply inform any Steward beforehand.

ARTICLE II

With permission from your Representative Lord or Lady, you may apply for a Grant from the Treasury. Such Grants will be considered for 100ന to 1,000ന. You may only gain such a Grant once every three Elven months.

ARTICLE III

During festivals, you will be granted half-off for the purchase of Festival Vending Stations. This will allow an Aspectist to pay only 25ന as opposed to the standard 50ന.

ARTICLE IV

In times of war or conflict, Aspectists may petition for Treasury food for the express purpose of distributing them to the populace as a form of charity work. This may be done as often as it will allow by the Treasurer’s discretion.

ARTICLE V

Upon the purchase of a business establishment within Caras Eldar, an Aspectist will be entitled to two Elven weeks of non-taxation to allow their business to grow unadulterated.

ARTICLE VI

From this moment forward, a total of 10% of ALL taxes gained by the Stewardry for the Treasury will be given fairly between any Circles recognized by the Federal Government.

*******

By the Grace of this Government and all within it, the signing of this Bill by Azoth Hawksong will henceforth place it into effect immediately.

A. Hawksong

Lord Treasurer of the Elvenesse Government

A dark-skinned elf sits alone on the balcony of his home, smoke rising from the pipe that now seems permanently clamped between his lips as he scans over the page. The fingers of his wooden right hand drum lightly against the table in front of him, his eyebrows furrowed as he reads it over.

"...So now we're bribing people with discounts, food, minas, and tax exemptions to proudly display that they worship the Aspects," he muses, taking the pipe from his mouth and exhaling, watching the plumes roll along before they're swept away by the breeze. After setting the pipe down, he picks up a frothy mug of a golden brew, tilting it back to take a long swig of its contents. "Is it that difficult to get your citizens to serve, dear brother? Or have they too opened their eyes to your bullshit?" He crumples the page up, tossing it into a wastebasket in the corner.

"We were doing fine before this. Now I must worry that people will embrace the rite superficially only to gain access to tax breaks. Mother Irrin nor the Watcher of the Wilds ever relied on monetary gain to guide their flocks. I will not either. This is the rite of the wild, and the wild knows no coin."

Artimec flipped a coin and tossed it into the attunement pond.

"But Abelas, if you believe this best then so be it. I entrusted you to lead, that means letting you make choices I don't agree with. May the Aspects and their Mani guide us all."

A Snow Elf, perched high in his Grove stares off into the distance as news makes way to him. He leans over to his quill and begins slowly writing away, he still seems distracted by something in the distance.

"I myself find this to be fairly generous for a follow of the Aspect- * his eyes shimmer has he looks towards the distance once more, the rising dawn fully encompasses his eyes and focus for a good minute. Once he returns to typing, it would seem his attitude had changed*

... Despite what I just said, I myself fear many non-believers will turn to the Aspects not for the teachings but for the benefits and tax cuts! We do not need ourselves known as 'the followers of tax cuts', we would like to be knows as 'the followers of the Aspects and their teachings'. While we can certainly have both, I fear that many will use these new found tax cuts in order to further themselves despite not truly believing in the Aspects. My suspicions are shared by others I would assume..
                                            Signed, Ascanius Dunlain"

The Snow Elf rolls the parchment up and gives it to his Owl, sending It of to Aspects know-where.

"Druids have no use for minas. This only falsifies the spreading of faith, not aid it." The Archdruid would speak, frowning some as she casts the parchment aside.

"Why would you bribe people to worship aspectism rather than actually try to convert them...? Seems rather redundant." Cyrene says in surprise upon reading the parchment.

A half-orc sits and reads this with a sad look on her face troubled by what this could mean later on. "At what point is bribing the populace not enough to covert and the need for bloodshed to start?"

Ruin'nir frowns, shaking his head lightly. "If someone wishes to live their life underneath the Aspects, it should be for that reason only. External rewards should not be given for doing something that is expected of an Aspectist." He'd murmur, a soft sigh escaping his lips.

"Government sponsored religion. Guess the Dominion can't say **** about the Canonist Church any longer." Says Red, the hobo.

"Religion," retorted Kairn with a matter-of-fact tone. "Is an institution of control. We all know this. My role as a Druid is to balance things, if monetary compensation encourages others to do the same, I care little for the source. It does not impact me or the work that I do. I actually admire the Canonists and their conduct."
