Another Departure

The sun began to set over the Cloud Temple, and two elves stood at the temple's entrance with a bag on their shoulders. They looked to the people that went about their daily business before the shorter of the two elves, Anthron, gave letters to his brother Laerean to send off with his own. They waited for a bit, before contemplating between themselves.

"Have you gotten everything you need?" Laerean asked towards Anthron. 

He then gave a nod in response. "I don't need much, and we may be gone for some time."

Laerean gave off a light smile, nodding, "Aye. I sent the letters off, so we've no more to worry about, but I still wonder if we're doing the right thing by leaving.."

Anthron seemed to shrug, keeping quiet for a few more moments before speaking once more, "We'll never know, but the vows we've made to the causes we call ourselves members of will endure forever, and will be a part of who we are. I just know there will be people that will miss us, and people that will be happy we're gone. That's just how it goes."

Laerean nodded in return, before turning towards the exit of the temple, "I guess we should be off, then?"

"Indeed."

And with that, the two brothers left the Cloud Temple, and began their journey, birds flying far and wide with letters to give.

Hi Bel, if you're reading this then that means that I'm gone, and I'm not sure when I'll be back if I ever do come back. I'm donating all of my stuff to the city, including my lab which is literally under my house. I always thought of you as a brother, and I still do to this day after all that had happened with the Ascended and on. You took me in when I had nowhere else to go and always did what you thought was the right thing even if it meant your head on the chopping block, and I'll always respect you for that. Before I started writing this I requested disconnection which was granted, and now I'm off with my brother, Anthron.

Hopefully we'll see each other again, so I won't say goodbye.

Hopefully this letter has reached you, and if someone else is reading it for you that's fine as well. I wanted to tell you that even after all that happened I still forgive you, and hope you'll still follow the path you believe is right. There's no word or phrase that can say how much of an impact you had on my life when you were still in it, but I'm happy that you were in it either way. If you hadn't already heard, I requested my own disconnection which Heial accepted. No matter what happens, do what you believe is the right thing, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, and I may not be back for a long time, so I won't say goodbye, only that I'll see you again someday.

Heial, seeing as this is the last letter I may ever send you, I just wanted to tell you that you were like a father to me, and I'm thankful that you took me into the Ascended even in a dire time that was during Bastion. My duty will always be the same, even if I did request disconnection, so there's nothing to worry about from that, except me having forgotten to write down a guide to making all the infusions before I left. Here's to seeing you again when I return, if I ever do.

I know you'll probably rip this letter up as soon as you get it from the bird, but in the case that you don't I have a good bit to say.

It's hard to find where to start honestly, but I guess I'll start from the beginning, the very beginning.

Back then was.. a simpler time. The order was much less in drama as it is now, though it's constant. I was young, and very naive back then, and in some ways I still am but you've helped with that. I loved what we had back then, and always will no matter what happens, though I know that it's over now, and likely never will happen again. You were the first person I loved, and I'm glad that it lasted as long as it did. Things were bad a lot, but we always came back from it until we didn't. I'm sorry for everything that happened, and may not be around to send you a letter again. What I did to Toren was wrong, and leading them there to do what we did was wrong as well, even though I warned him multiple times of what his actions could cause.

All in all, I forgive you. And I'm sorry for everything, but for now I have a journey to take.

I'm sorry that I'm having to send you this letter, but I know that it's the right thing to do. Take care of Kairn please, and I'll still remember you no matter where I go. Just know that I love you, and I always will. I may be back, I may not. Just stay the person you are, and don't let anyone change you. You're perfect just the way you are even if you are a bryophite. Kairn will be there for you, and maybe I'll be there again someday too.

You were one of the best teachers to me, and always stood with me and slapped me whenever I did something wrong, which in the end made me who I am today. When I became a dedicant I was extremely impatient, and now I've been tempered into the druid that I am now, and I thank you for leading me on that path when Aeras was always gone. I hope that I'll see you again, and maybe I'll come visit every now and then during my journey.

Brothers and sisters, I thank you all for being there for me in times when nobody else was. You are the best family I could ever ask for, even if there is drama between all of us on a daily basis. Things have been done that are unforgivable, but we move on from them and learn from them. I hope the order won't start killing itself again, and I hope that it doesn't get into a crisis like the Savanna Grove when I left last time. Just keep yourselves alive and continue on, that's the least I can ask.

((This post is basically me leaving LotC, it's been a good almost 3 years on here but my time's coming to a close with the ending of this school year. I've had a ton of fun with all of you, and I'll still keep in contact with quite a bit of people here.

The main reason I'm leaving is to make sure I have time for next school year, which would already bring my activity to the lowest it would have ever been.

Cheza pauses in the midst of a sip of tea and slowly closes her eyes. She sits there, still as a statue, for some time before one of her sons tugs at her arm in concern.

 

"It is nothing, little one. I merely feel as if someone I once knew is now lost... They might be found again and they might not. Such is the way of life that people leave us sometimes even if we don't want them to."

Kefi sits in her home on the Winterleaf Isle, doing her best to look like she's meditating in her sun room. She can do little to hide the tears that drip from her closed eyes and down her cheeks. She remains quiet in her sadness, the letter tucked under her leg, open and read. She hasn't felt sad in a long while. Eventually, she wanders out of her home to find comfort among her new family, and to bring Kairn over to join her.
