A depiction of one of the many raids against Curon, ca 1658

A raven-haired woman would be seen ascending an improvised platform on the streets of Curon just before the local tavern. With a quick puff of air, a strand of hair that had fallen before her face was removed, brushing it behind her ear before she raised the very same finger up and called out before the gathering people.

“I have had, ENOUGH!”

She called out with a frustrated expression, her breath shivered as she finally let loose the words that had been swirling at the tip of her tongue for many a day and night. Her once soft features scrunching up as she took another breath and spoke once more.

“I have had enough of my work, my capabilities and my ambitions hampered by an ill-equipped and sickly government due to its constant paranoia and doubt in those who seek to uplift Curon.

Not only has this government squandered what intellectuals it had remaining, it has outright shunned and disposed of them in the vilest of manners to merely secure the positions of a select few people in an attempt to protect themselves from the conflict that have plagued this Principality for far too long.

Not only is this very country in a downward spiral, it is vehemently and critically unstoppable as there is no longer a way for any person to pertain the will, time or effort to possess the capacity to save it.

I tried, I pleaded, I begged. But my words fell on deaf ears as my suggestions, my abilities went ignored by none other than the Princess-Regnant and her vile councilors that ensured that her ears remain plugged with the yes’s she so desperately craved in her quest for approval and dominance.

As she and her ilk have so vicariously chosen to sit back and observe Curon's swift downfall, I have chosen to head south with my family, and those who wish to join me to seek better fortunes for themselves and their own.

And thusly, I QUIT!”

The former Mayor of Cyrilsburg, Leila Rubens, made her way swiftly down the makeshift, to a mixture of boos and cheers as she made carved a path through the crowd and began her journey south, to join her family in their newly formed Barony.

Arnaud Halcourt would smile as he watches the Rubens walk through his archway to White Peak.

"Ave Rubens."

Ser Sylvester III would smile from the seven skies

"Seems like Linette loves to backstab the people who are Mayors."

*Aldyth var Burgundar would hear the news with a small smile, shed look to the fire* "well how things change, the future is bright for the Rubens now"

William Rubens and a select few of his best men were present at the speech, each dressed in fine plate-mail and the well-sown colours of House Rubens. William Rubens looked on proudly as his sister denounced the hive of scum and villainy, glad that she would no longer languish in the petty walls of Cyrilsburg and that she would no longer be put in danger as a result of Curon's military incompetence.

"Perhaps once the usurper is no longer on the throne, Curon will be restored to greatness."

And with that William and his group of men escorted Leila back to the safety of Leeuwenhof, the Curonite guards powerless to stop them.

"You say our great nation shall fall, and that is on a downward path to destruction. But you made the mistake of denouncing such nation. It is you, traitor, who will fall." Matthew would shake his head, as he clenched his fist, moving away from the stand.

Aragon Silversteed would watch from the saddle of his horse the speech. Dozens of mounted Knights of Arbor stand by him, and in front of them an entire unit of the Arbor Black Guard. The men of Arbor stand quietly, not cheering or booing. One of the Wardens of Arbor turns to Aragon from his horse, looking over his right shoulder, "my lord, what shall we do?"

Aragon would think for a moment, never being one for rash action. He would then say, "Warden Elton, take the unit and peacefully disperse the crowd" noticing how the crowd seemed to have turned on each other, throwing apples, small rocks, among other things. "Have the people return to their homes."

Aragon would pull the reigns of his steed, the rest of his company riding at his side, the men returning home to Arbor.

Aragon would think to himself as they ride, "another startup Barony? This is getting out of hand. Arbor had historic precedent for its creation, but this? This only fractures humanity more."

Véres Draskovits rolled his shoulders, "Leaving honor for power, seems logical." he cleared his throat, penning a speech.

"Have you finally snapped, Leila...? Has the stress of your position and the loss of your child taken its toll...? Goodness, Leila... You've gotten yourself into a huge mess..." Auralia says with a sigh, looking down from the Seven Skies with worry.

Leila Rubens can't hear dead people.

Steph would be standing in Cyrilsburg's town square, scratching his chin and looking around at the people "I told you I was the better candidate" the man rubs his hands together and smirks.

Emelie Rubens watches with an earnest countenance. "Leila was shunned by the government of Curon since the moment she ascended into office. She has a right to leave, and so do you all. She is a good woman, strong and true and pious. Yet she is not daft. There are snakes in my homeland and they will be stopped. Dearest Leila," she pauses, dipping her chin, "we will rise in our new home, and your strengths will be acknowledged and accepted. The people are whispering, lords of Curon. My people want change. Give it to them, or they will seize it themselves. For the sake of my father, Karl Devereux, for the sake of my brother, Alfred of Curon... take action. Accept reformation because without it more undead will rise and more darkness will seep into our walls. Take this departure as a herald that change needs to occur. We lose our people everyday... my own sister was murdered in the streets of Cyrilsburg. She now roams as undead, because of the necrotic and heretical demons that linger in our country. I beg of you. For the sake of my family, for the sake of my home... fix this. Whatever progressions you make now, redirect them. The Order of Saint Lucien can only protect us for so long. We need to seize and properly charge strength and proper administration unless the sovereignty of this country will be lost. Deus Magnus, men and women." Placing a protective hand over her stomach, Emelie Frederika mounts her destrier and trots out of the gates of Cyrilsburg. Flanked by the armored men of Rubens, she lifted her chin. "GOD Save Curon," she let the words roll from her lips, black tresses spilling down her shoulders, "do not let more people die because of petty failure."
