Hi, im Zach and i've been on the server for quite awhile now, about three years. Over the years i've been on here i've always used magic but around the end of Axios i got into mental magic and jazz

What i wanna know is what does everyone else think of mental magic?

Mental magic is one of the better ideas but it's execution was absolutely dismal and the lore is utter crap. I'm waiting eagerly for it to be shelved because its simply used as a meta-gaming device and that's it.

I heard there was supposed to be a re-write soon.

Aaaaaaaaaaanywho, mental magic is powergamey and can be used as a way to metagame even if people don't realize it. There aren't enough redlines in my opinion. We need something that makes it more difficult for the mage to be able to see these thoughts.

I like the concept, however you'll find people who powergame unbreakable barriers because they don't want to be invaded mentally. I don't know.

It definitely has the potential to be one of the most RP-generating magicks out there, although I've heard of plenty of horror stories about power-gaming mages using it to delve into year-old memories. Generally, as long as the mage is knowledgeable about how the human brain works regarding memory and doesn't want to bully people into giving up information, it's certainly one of the most interesting magicks about!

 

Not to mention that the mental-sensory illusion combination is probably my dream set up, but hey, haha.

I think it's an interesting magic, but needs to be rewritten and/or smoothed out more than its current state.

I've used mental magic for some of the most entertaining role-play on the server. If anyone is using it as a meta-gaming tool, they're a ****. I would be upset to see it shelved, because I still use it regularly in my role-play as fairly as I can, and I've never used it in combat. Out of curiosity, what do you think needs to be smoothed out?

I had an interaction where a mental mage was trying to force my lich into thinking he was suffocating, the character that hadn't taken a breath in like a hundred years, where I told him that's not very practical or believable he insisted I still emote suffocating, sensory illusion on the other hand I think is fine, the people crying over disguises need to change that diaper they got on yo @WuHanXianShi14

@HurferDurfer1 Correct me if I'm wrong, but mental magic has NO illusionary abilities that manifest in physical reactions, right? It's all manipulating the mind and has no basis in the physical world. I don't think it's completely fair to judge the entire magic just by one or two bad apples, that apparently didn't even quite know what the magic was.

Na you can do basically anything  with its illusions right now. Meaning i can make you feel as though you are on fire as long as there is a just cause for such an illusion to not break.
