GM Update Log - July 2018

As we have moved into the heat of summer we have taken some time to further look at our tracks and where they lead us. Often times the GM team has a tendency to move towards a high point and then dip off. Gauging the team and pacing ourselves is something we have been working on which is part of the reason why we have such a large team and have still been looking for more applicants. Our current focus in mind has shifted recently towards looking at the complaints given about rules as a whole and looking into updating them. This is something that has long be requested during this summer season and it is time we took a crack at it!

GM Policy: GM policies serve as a means to standardize the actions of moderators. Too often items and ways things should be done are passed by word of mouth which has led to a lack of consistency. Documenting these changes has been a goal of mine that has now finally been completed for the most part. This mainly relates to in-house items, but a focus of mine over the course of August will be to look at the way free build moderation is handled. Free build was never intended to be a thing moderated and overseen by GM’s alone, but it has sort of walked into our realm of responsibility. Moving forward I’ll be working to document responsibilities to help with issues in this area we have been having and to also communicate those with the community when I have those written down fully.

 

Server Rules: This is the first rule set we will be tackling and focusing on while we continue to make minor changes to the war system to see if it can be tweaked to work out better for everyone involved. (Disclaimer that may involve gutting sections of that rule set) From a broader perspective there have been issues arising where the server rules rewrite that took place hoped to be the last one, but by keeping the rules very wordy and cutting out a lot of the important details in favor of having it vaguely worded it has left it open to not only the interpretation of players, but moderators as well which can lead to obvious issues of consistency. The hope in restructuring server rules is that we will be able to load more into the collection while also keeping them concise and easy to follow. We have been gathering feedback so if you’d like to voice your opinion about server rules post either down below or on this thread here! Coup rules will be included in the draft given back to the community after feedback collection and writing is complete. Heist are still in the works and a bit further down the road. Wolf has taken these set of rules up and has provided further information to a draft that you can find more about here. Plugin Automation: As many of you know we have had some awesome work done on plugins that automate systems and cut out GM’s from the work. The siege weapons plugin was a great step for warclaims and it got rid of the possibility of GM bias or even the accusations of it. The lockpicking plugin also cut down the wait time of needing a GM and also frees us up as moderators to respond to other modreqs that involve player conflict more quickly. This is something that I have viewed as a very positive move and I hope that the work done by our amazing developers has also pleased you! If you have thoughts, feedback, or ideas about those two plugins leave a comment below about how it could be improved, changed, or even added onto to make it better. The GM team received a total of 2970 modreqs in July.

Congratulations and thank you to: Karimir, Lumiin, and wolfkite1 for handling the most tickets this month!

 

The monthly quota for the GM-Team is 3%, for this month that meant an individual GM had to complete a total of 89 tickets. Below you can view the general statistics for all members of the team. Keep in mind some new GMs were added to the team late in the month and some GMs were on leave for irl reasons.

 

 

In addition to completed tickets, there was also a sizable GM Contribution in regard to:

Warclaims, raids, bans, ban-appeals and extensive modreqs. You can view these statistics below: (Note, submissions are voluntary and only count up to 100 points for moderators so this data is not fully accurate and in the case of this month most GM’s opted not to use it)
