Charter System [Your View]

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! Today we would like to share with you our proposed Charter System for 7.0. Please take the time to review it and give us your feedback on the system!
Note: This is different from the Your View post Corpean made a few days ago. As I promised this is the version with all of the changes and updates.

A Charter is defined as regioned parcel of land granted to an individual who completes the requirements for the selected tier of charter.

The Information & Process for gaining a Charter

Application Process:

1) Submit a Charter Application for the land you desire.

2) Begin the two week wait. Use this time to collect signatures and submit minas.

  3) Finally, a staff member claims, evaluates, and processes your application.

        a) When Accepted you enter the probation period.

        b) When Denied, the charter is archived. You may retry.

Charter Application:

The Charter of [name of land]

Submitted by [owner’s roleplay name]  « [owner’s minecraft name] »

  • Located at coordinates (X, Y, Z)
  • Tier level of [#]

We wish to upgrade our charter. (NO: remove this, YES: provide link to charter)

    OR

We wish to relocate our charter. (NO: remove this, YES: provide link to charter)

Charter Probation

Excellent, your charter is accepted! We now flag your region and monitor it for two months and verify you meet the criteria for activity. If you succeed, we remove your probation status. Though, if you fail, we must delete your region.

Where can I place my Charter?

Got a place you’re interested in? Compare it to the conditions below.

  • No other Charter already claimed that spot.
  • You’re at least 125 blocks away from any other Charter.
  • You’re not inside the Cloud Temple Ring.
  • You’re not in a tile owned by a nation or in contested territory.
  • You are not in the Freebuild Wilds.
  • You do not own any other land.

* If you are relocating, then you may only do so if you are not at war.

* Keep in mind when you choose your location, your Charter can only be dependent on Nations adjacent to your tile.

I want to upgrade or relocate my Charter.

First of all, your Charter must pass the probation period. Then, choose a location that is the same or smaller tier and be ready to pay half the price of that land.

If you wish to upgrade—you must gather all the signatures. However, you only pay the difference for the cost in minas. Your Charter will re-enter the probationary period for two months. If you fail your land will only revert to the original size—however, you will need to pass another two-month probation to keep the land altogether.

Can I use the land of a former Charter that went inactive?

Absolutely. In fact, you can purchase or relocate to abandoned land at a 35% discount!

We would like to declare dependency on a Nation.

You may apply at any time for Dependant status—even during probation.

We would like to ascend to Nation status.

You must reach Nation-level activity. Then, you may apply for Nation status and enter a two month probationary period. You must maintain Nation-level activity for the entire two months.

Charter Tiers

Tier 1 - Hamlet 50 x 50 block region

Seven signatures

Ten-thousand minas

Tier 2 - Village 100x 100 block region

Fifteen signatures

Forty-thousand minas

Tier 3 - City 150x150 block region

Thirty signatures

Ninety-thousand minas

I believe that this should be mended to “Not in the range of 100 blocks to a Nation Capital’s tile, so long as you’re under that nation’s protection”

This should also have an option “If you collect a specific amount of signatures depending on the tier you applied for, you may ask for it to be reviewed earlier.”

Player signatures on plots should be limited. It doesn’t make sense for one player to be able to be 1/7 members in several different plots, which will undoubtably happen.

I would propose that, if a region fails its 2 month probation check, it should be put up for ‘land auction’ or something similar instead of being instantly deleted. Reusing and recycling land/builds is a good way to cut down on the freebuild-esque town spam. The region and builds should only be deleted if no one wants to use/pay for the land.

If a place fails their activity check. Roll it back. This map follows a, hey take it if you want it, policy which pollutes the map.

Dont sell it off.

I understand that tythus wrote in a clause in the terms of service that everything on lotc even if built somewhere else becomes his but honestly, if someone quits or is banned and doesnt nuke a city they spent months building, dont just give it away to a pixel hoarder. Just nuke it and let a new person strike up their build.

Also. When are you announcing the return of nexus or the removal of the et and wiki team. 7.0 is around the corner. I'm waiting.

Charters should only be available in a certain block radius around spawn, no further than nation capitals. Unrestricted charters will turn the map into Vailor 2

Anyone else think that these charter prices are pretty high, especially since the economy won’t be inflated at the beginning of the map?

-I think you should expand on what "dependency" implies since it is mentioned as something important.

-When a charter reaches nation activity and applies for nation status, do they need to pay for their tile? How much?

-What happens if there are 2 charters within 1 tile and 1 one of them become a nation?

-Will the activity checks continue after the 2 months of probation?

  • You are not in the Freebuild Wilds.

Charters on freebuild too, the freebuild covers a really big area of the east part of the map and some in the west, and with the number of nations the staff is allowing AGAIN, the nation circle is gonna be pretty much full with very limited locations for new charters without getting someone’s ass in your face.

Say a group doesn’t have the means to get a charter so they start a settlement in the freebuild area, they grow and expand and now they have a nice spot and enough resources for a Charter, why would you not let them place a charter on their already existing settlement? Disallowing charters is a mistake tbh.

To whichever staff wrote this, stop pretending you’re actually going to enforce this and let player’s moderate the reclamation of land via warclaims, new charters, etc.

Those mina prices are much too high, unless there is a proposal to ramp up the amount of mina from voting or other sources (which is idiotic because nobody sane in the head will grind out mina like this is some sort of MMORPG).

Also, the region doesn’t need to be deleted, it can stay as an old build which a World Developer or ET Builder can come and make look more derelict.  If you’ve ever seen Outerhaven, that build was the result of someone else’s build going derelict (via World Developer action), then some group taking control of that place, then stagnating and dying out, and once more undergoing the same process under a new group.  Unless a build is a giant 40 foot penis statue, don’t touch people’s builds.  That’s history, culture, and roleplay.

Thirdly, what are the requirements for activity?  Is this going to be some sort of tenure type system, where grandfathered builds no longer have to worry about activity checks after their prerequisite amount of time?  Every human nation out of the 50 that popped up managed to last about 2 months or so, so why even do a 2 month activity check when its going to have the same result as the build rules now?

Also, what are warclaim rules going to be regarding this?  If someone is spending 40k mina for a plot of land to develop a group, what stops some nation from warclaiming them, taking the charter, and effectively screwing over a group’s hard work and effort to get the mina by getting rid of their land?
