A Masquerade in the Moonlight

A multitude of fliers could be seen posted along the sides of inns, stables, and road signs that line the highways of the Holy Orenian Empire. Should you choose to take one of them in hand, the pamphlet would read as follows:

Greetings, travelers!  

 

In order to celebrate the bonds between the many members community, the love between neighbors, and the continued prosperity of the Royal City of Reza, the Lady Maer has called for a masquerade ball of grand proportions to be held at the Prikaz in concurrence with the winter solstice.

 

All men and women of the Empire are invited to attend this most splendid occasion, both Haenseni and foreign alike. However, those in attendance shall be required to don a mask, a costume, or both in order to gain entrance into the event. It is also to take place at nightfall in order to add to the sense of mystique for the occasion!

 

Activities for guests who choose to attend the masquerade shall include the following:

• Costume Competition - Lead by a panel of three judges to be chosen by the Maer, a contest to be declared the wearer best costume at the ball shall be held during the gathering. A first, second, and third prize for the competition shall be distributed based on the decisions of the panel in regards to the beauty, originality, and the popularity of the entries. Gold, silver, and bronze medals bearing the sigil of a mask shall be presented to those winners in that order.
   

• Liquor Festival - Drinking games shall be held at the masquerade in the tradition of the north, with contestants pitting themselves against each other as they strive to be declared the most dexterous person in all the realm! The winner at the end of the night shall be given a gilded goblet inscribed with the royal crest of the kingdom as a reward.
   

• Tournament of the Full Moon - A minor tourney shall be held for the more combat inclined in the military district of Reza. A one hundred mina entrance fee must be paid in order to participate, and a sum of 75% of the total winnings, as well as a goblet engraved with the crest of a crescent moon, shall be awarded to the winner of the competition. It is not meant to be a full, dedicated tourney, but is meant to be a good way for ball-goers to pass the time.
   

• The Striking of a Grand Bonfire - As is Haenseni tradition, a bonfire shall be lit in the square of the royal city following the end of the night’s festivities. All are encouraged to gather around it and commune!

Dancing and music, of course, shall also be had in the Prikaz for this most grand occasion! So feel free to bring a spouse or a date to accompany you to this event, although one is by no means required to indulge in the night’s festivities.

Anya scans over the notice as it’s passed to her by one of her handmaidens. Her lips tug into a simple smile, eyes sparkling with the excitement of a child. “Finally,” She murmurs, placing it aside on her desk before striding across the room to her steadily growing wardrobe, “An excuse to wear a new one.”

Elena, while drinking a wodka, she’d make a light chuckle as then she spoke “Finally some fun in fun event better then a boorish... nope this seems boring but why not?” Would finish her wodka as she made a yawn, wiping her mouth with her sleeve, walking out of the bar giving the bar keep a tip.
