Declaration of Norlandic Pride

PREAMBLE

The Duchy of Morsgrad has advanced phenomenally since its founding. The institutions and people have embraced traditionalist values that were present in former iterations of Norlandic cities. With astounding support of the people and neighbouring settlements, Caedric I Edvardsson Ruric officially declares the reclamation of the Kingdom of Norland.

Section I. Reclamation of Title

As of the issuance of this declaration, the primary title will be King of Norland, followed by the land that one holds as overlord and then the titular title/s. Henceforth, Caedric Ruric will bear the title of King, which will pass to the next claimant through moot of the King’s Council upon his passing. In documents of diplomacy, the nation will instead be referred to as the Kingdom of Norland rather than the Duchy of Morsgrad. All prior documents and treaties that refer to the Duchy of Morsgrad as the primary title will still be in effect with this title change.

Section II. Classification of the Kingdom

The Kingdom of Norland will be defined as the land that is held by the King, landholders in the Morsgrad region, and vassals who have sworn loyalty to Norland and Morsgrad. However, Protectorates are not considered to be part of the Kingdom of Norland but rather constituent populaces of the greater territory of the Highland Realm. From the issuance of this document, the current vassals are:

   -Darrowmere

   -Aedelland

 

Protectorates are:

   -Vi Stige

   -Hodeskallefel

Section III. Three Pillars of Government

The Nordish government shall be split into three great pillars of authority and responsibility, the Throne, the Faith, and the Sword. Each of these pillars shall be expected to work in alignment with each other, however if issue is had between any, they may balance each other to ensure stability. If a dispute is had and two of the tree pillars determine a course of action, the third will be forced to go through with the course of action.

Section IV. The Throne

The Throne of Norland, the King, has the authority and responsibilities to oversee:

   -The Chiefsmoot shall be overseen by the Throne and directly led by the Chamberlain. This shall include presenting bills for legislation, taxation, and declarations.

   -Titles and land shall be issued by the Throne and determine the status of all lands as direct Vassals or as Protectorates.

   -All acts of diplomacy and foreign exchanges must go through supervision by the Throne.

   -All stewards of the kingdom fall under the jurisdiction of the Throne.

   -The Throne has chief authority over the Martyrs of Norland.

Section V. The Faith

The Faith of Norland, the Red Faith as led by the High Keeper and the Holy Hearth Council, shall have the following authority and responsibilities:

   -The Holy Hearth shall be responsible for the adjudication of matters of civil and criminal law. This shall include criminal trials, and legal disputes in matters of feud, of property, of marriage, of inheritance, and of succession. All such matters shall be brought before a Hearth Keeper, Luminary or the High Keeper for adjudication.

   -The Holy Hearth Council shall reserve the right to issue declarations of unfitness, in the event that an incumbent of a position of importance is found to be in violation of the laws of the Father or the Crown.

   -The incumbent High Keeper shall reserve the right to review all legislation of the Chiefsmoot, so that it may be ensured that all laws fall in line with the Father’s teachings. In the event that the preemption of a given law is found to be unfounded, the Chiefsmoot may petition the High Keeper for an appeal. The appeal process shall consist of the law being brought before the Holy Hearth Council for reconsideration. 

   -The incumbent High Keeper shall determine the current interpretation of the Redlaw, as well as its enforcement.

Section VI. The Sword

The Sword of Norland, the Ash-Bringer, is the chosen authority by moot of the highest ranking member of the Martyrs and the King, has the following Authorities and responsibilities:

   -Protecting the Nordish people by upholding and enforcing the Laws of the Highland Realm. 

   -Leading the Martyrs of Norland during times of war, acting in the Authority of the King of Norland.

   -Recognize favorable ability with the Martyrs of Norland and promoting members as such is deemed fit.

   -Requisitioning the allocated funds required to compensate the Martyrs of Norland.

(( @Lionbileti Norland’s title has been recreated, just because it’s been dissolved it doesn’t mean it can’t be recreated lol. You cite that document but it also says “no Ruric shall hold dominion over another“. You literally wrote the Nordlaw for Morsgrad that confirmed the possibility for Nordish vassals. If you’re going to complain about what we do, at least make sure your own actions fit what you’ve said in the dissolution before you come for us ))
