Well obviously the Lore Admin has no idea of the real lore. Gah, the nerve... 🙄

For people hating on the new Hyeon-Yeon Culture, I think it’s quite rude seeing how the admins in Yong Ping spent months working on a new culture for all of us to enjoy. As somebody who plays in the Hyeon-Yeon culture, I am very excited to get into it. So many doors opened with this introduction. Rather than hating on it, come see for yourself. Experience Yong-Ping. Not just the builds and items you get here. But the people who spend their days rping in Yong-Ping. Tada and KIMI have spent so much time working on this new culture, and now they feel discouraged as if their work has gone to waste. It isn't fair, nor kind. I'm excited to see where this new culture will go and how it will flourish. Come and take a look yourself, before judging from what you read on the forum.

New Asian culture? Pog. Glad to see some more variety and people placing some effort into giving new stuff to try in the server.

And, come on guys, discussing race over culture? Really? Now you gonna come and say a Cannonist cant be an elve or that a Qualasheen cant be a dwed. We have seen examples of this existing, so just drop it and enjoy some fun rp. People didnt have to take their time to create this post and lore, yet they did, so no need to be a prick about it.

TL;DR? Gonna enjoy playing one of these, no matter if ya like it or nah. Gonna have some good ol fun, y'all, you should try to as well! Peace!

I will say. For anyone that oppose against this. I am gonna make clear that you got to remember that at the end of the day it's a roleplay server. They have worked two years on this being a thing in the first place. Especially with the event line. It took a lot of work and effort for this culture to be a thing in LoTC. If you have a problem with 'Farfolk elves' Just know. Proto elves can come from Farfolk cultures. Nevertheless. I love interacting with this culture and the people. I do believe it would make a good part in LoTC.

I'd like to start with the fact that someone else had to ask me to post this because they knew exactly how people would react and I'm disappointed to say how people proved them right. This is meant to be a culture to add to Yong Ping and allow people to have fun and no gate-keeping. I currently have players that were excited for this now afraid to play a persona because of the stuff already displayed here, which is utterly ridiculous. This culture started when we had people coming in and asking if we had anything based off of Koreans here and as more and more came in and we got to discussing it, we began our work. If people want to comment on that, I'll be blunt, do it but don't you dare make the people wanting to play this feel inferior because they don't fit into the idea of how one might think Farfolks should be. The Proto Elf lore was introduced recently, it allows for different features and cultures and before they were introduced, I never once played an Elf because I didn't like any of the cultures I was relegated to with whichever subrace I'd be in. This has allowed me not only a chance to play Elves but explore a new aspect of rp. I will be looking to close the topic and I hope those reading this have a lovely night and for those interested, I'm happy to answer questions! I am super excited for this culture, especially after one hell of an introduction today at the pirate eventline. You'll be seeing more of us soon and I am damn-well pleased to have brought this here.

I think the most problems lay in the fact that elves make up a lot of their history and it doesn't add up with the current elf lore in general. And at that, making asian inspired characters as elves just strikes me as a little odd. Like you want to live out the korean aesthetic as an elf? yet, a lot of the " culture " you've written is about death . it makes no sense.

In terms of culture

Now, I don't expect people to roleplay asian inspired characters spot on especially if they are not from the culture inspired, but there is a very thick line between cultural appropriation and appreciation. plenty of other of my asian friends share the same sentiment.

This isn't a fantasy made culture. This is a real life culture that people live, and while this culture is a cool idea in retrospect, it fails to show the deeper culture of korean history. Now, I am not Korean, but personally, I think this is very lazily written and superficial.

Yong Ping is very artificial all in all in that way, imo. You guys have foods that are heavily shown on the media, but fail to acknowledge traditional foods. You only touch the surface, of what looks cute. Im sorry to break it to you, that MANY asian foods do not fit the "aesthetic".

For example, you have boba tea in the tavern. That wasn't even invented till the 80s. You also have moon cakes which in my opinion, is a little insulting because it is a VERY sacred food in chinese culture that is only ate during the Mid-Autumn Festival.  There are many other things that strike me as odd, tbh.

If you really want to roleplay a Korean inspired character, or any character from a copied IRL culture for that matter, please touch deeper than the surface. I honestly think Korean culture is very cool, and should be appreciated. But this just doesn't do it for me.
