End of a Soldier

A short recap of life and final moments by Velhrun William Darkwood

The road was a long one indeed, to think of my humble beginning - arrival at Helena and enlisting with the goal of finding a purpose, tis was that which started my road and set my goal before me.

From my first major battle I charged forth along the cavalry with a call of Death and Glory to the suicidal missions of  Korvassa, my road was a simple one indeed.

My life is defined by a simple thing, loyalty, endless loyalty to the Empire, the Emperors and Empresses, that was the core of my creed.

With this in my mind I fought forth against any enemies of the empire wherever they could have been and I did not spare my flesh of resources for the sake of the empire, all I had I gave when and how I could.

What did this bring me,  I proved my mettle and ascended to the nobility, proved my prowess to become a Knight Commander and many more recognitions from the Emperors and Empresses of the past.

Yet now I  rest most likely on my deathbed and I look towards the current Emperor of the Empire that I am and will be loyal to till the end of my life and beyond it.

I have full faith in the Imperial State Army and their work. The general himself honored me, a dying man with presence, I could not ask for more.

I rest waiting, a bird sent but a response not seen, as a peer, former general and Knight Commander I wished in my final moments to apologize to His Imperial Majesty for failing to accomplish the Venerable quest  that was given to me in my lifetime and to pass to the Seven Skies with full faith in the Emperor.

Yet I am left waiting, I know the end is near but not even a response could be seen, but I still hold hope, for how could I not?

His Imperial Majesty would spare a mere moment to allow a dying man to apologize for his failings before death wouldn't he?

Signed

Velhrun William Darkwood

Was fun playing the character, but everything meets a end sooner or later, tried to do a decent sendoff, but it is what it is.

Dame Viktoriya entered the hospital in a hurry, her white robes trailing on the floor behind her. The moment she burst into the room, she could tell she'd been too late.

"Ah. An old face . . ."

Conversation commenced. Velhrun had been her oldest friend - literally, and figuratively, and despite his actions, she felt she should aid him. Yet, she'd been too late.

"Vhat do vy mean, vyr . . . dying? Vyr young! Young folk don't die!" she chortled, looking down at him with a crooked grin.

"I'm a hundred years old, friend."

As they spoke on, his voice had gradually dwindled. And then, at last, his breath had, too. "Vel -- VELHRUN!"

She'd sought to resuscitate him; she was in denial. Yet, she'd been too late.

That maleficar didn't leave the hospital alone that night, but with a heavy bodybag in her arms.

"I'll find out who did this to vy, and t'ey'll . . . I'll faechkin' - kill them!"

A woman believed to be long-dead offered a mere grimace at that. She recalled from a life that she had long since left behind to start anew; "He is one of the men that tortured me... You know, perhaps they shall brandish him now, in the nether, where he belongs." A wicked smile thus appeared on her features before she got back to studying a tome.

"So you'd like to enlist in the Glorious State Army? Alright let's get the paperwork done and you in the reds." a sheet of paper would be placed in front of the Interviewer.

"So what's your name?" asked the brown haired man, gripping his pen tightly, he would be prepared to write down the details.

Pausing for a moment, he would then tell him, "Velhrun? Darkwood? Quite a unique name..." he'd then chuckle, "You know you seem to have yourself together. I think you'll do wonderfully in my brigade. After we're done here. I'll tell you more about it."

In the Seven skies a long deceased member of the Imperial State Army would sigh, but smiled! at the fact that Velhrun now has his rest.

"The death of the former General Darkwood has truly shocked me. Despite our punctual disagreements we worked together in the Council of State in the decisive moments of our country, where we defended the authority of our Emperor to rule over humanity, and I know that he tirelessly worked very hard for our army and its troops, risking his life in the process. The truth is that the 1st Baron of Darkwood was a true orenian patriot."

Sir Charles Galbraith sighed, before rolling over his shoulders and signing the Lorraine.

"Rest in peace, my lord."
