The Deathbed of Garret Darkwood, surrounded by family and clergy as he passes to the next life

There was a hum in the air, doctors rushing in and out of the room and orders placed in for herbs, medicines and bandages. “The injuries sustained in the battle in Esbec have come and reared their ugly head, the permanent damage is affecting his bodily functions” An Doctor states. An ailing man in a bed raised his hand ordering the doctors to halt and leave “My time has come” the Orenian veteran states. “All I need is my family”. The next saint's day was filled with writing, testimony, confessions with priests and consultations with family members.

In his last moments Garret Darkwood turns to his eldest son “Come help me up son” as Garret and Charles one last time take the venture to the old Sedanian ruins. Stopping at the hill overlooking the ruins “From here it started for me, and here it will end for me” After a conversation with his son, the contents remaining locked away forever known only to Charles and Garret, Garret looks up to the sky as he breathes in “I done made my vow to GOD, and I never will turn back. As you have giveth life to me thou art shall taketh life from me. I regret that I have but one life to live for my Country, for my Family, for my sons and daughters” With his last breath Garret says a prayer and states “God remember me when I enter into your kingdom” And on the hilltop of the ruins of Sedan, Garret Darkwood the veteran of the Sedanian Conflict, the Tenth Nordling war, Multiple campaigns against the criminal entities of Oren, countless of raiders and bandits thieves and murderers, the conflict with the MRA, and lastly the Sothos legion with his last breath states “My work here is done” As the last breath slips from his lips, Garret Darkwood grandchild of Velhrun Darkwood, Imperial General passed away. Former Inspector-General of the Ministry of Justice, Agent of the Secret Service, passed away. Attended by his eldest son.

[!] A missive from the Darkwood family would be published

It is with a heavy heart that it is announced that Garret Darkwood, Former Inspector General of the Ministry of Justice, Father, Grandfather, Friend and family member. Has passed from this life to the next in the Seven Skies. A servant to the Empire who dedicated his life to the protection of the country has gone ahead of us to the kingdom of GOD.

Enclosed is his last will and testament

My family members and friends, if you are reading this then I have passed onto the next life. Worry not for I am at peace, confident that the future of the family can be passed down to the next generation of Darkwoods. It is my regret that I have not had more years to be in your presence however, my injuries have caught up to me that I sustained those years ago. Never run from your past for it will always catch up to you and have the last laugh.

My biggest regret is that I cannot see my grandchildren grow up to be the men and women of virtue that their great great grandfather was. I pray that my work in the Empire has helped make it a better, safer place for all citizens. That my work, left undone in the Ministry of Justice may continue. For it is with sadness I have had the honor...or dishonor to see the dissolving of the Imperial Constabulary, I pray that even in death perhaps I can see the Constabulary reformed. For it was the honor of my life to serve alongside some of the most dedicated men and women the Empire has ever seen. Let their sacrifices not be in vain, for it is my last wish that the Empire remembers the sacrifices made to ensure the lifestyle that many of us take for granted. The amount of pain and suffering people have endured to keep the cities of the Empire from falling into enemy hands has been endured generation to generation. The Ministry of Justice Imperial Constabulary has paid part of that price that should not be overlooked. The many that died in the Battle of Esbec I have never forgotten, the faces of the families that have lost their loved ones in the MoJ I have never unseen. I go and meet them now as the last casualty of the battle of Esbec. It is my last wish to the Darkwood family to be true to yourselves, always be there for your family and never falter from your mission.

I now submit myself to the divine judge, the one who has created us all. May GOD have mercy on all, may he guide you all, may he guide the Empire and all Canonist nations. May there be peace, and let it begin with me may it begin with you.

May the road rise up to meet you

May you find peace within yourselves

May your find the glory of GOD in all things and find the peace that cheerful service brings

All things are created through God all things shall end through God

I pray that to you pray in GODs name. Amen.

Charles Darkwood gripped the letter between his fingers, teary eyes narrowed down upon the paper.

"Du made many ein mistake, vater; but Ich still loved du, remember that..Ich'll do what ist best fur mein family, like du wanted..."

Murmured he within strained breaths, bloodshot eyes eventually drawling to the Ministry Shield by his side as he recalled the many times in his childhood spent alongside him, a gift none of his other siblings had been truly gifted; and to think he died upon the same hill in which Charles first learned to fight.

"Ich will be ein gutte vater und husband, Ich promise." He swore, drawing a hand to sign the Lorraine upon his forehead.

Shortly thereafter, the man stood and departed to seek out his wife for consolation and to notify his children of their grandfather's passing.

Charles Darkwood ( @Ziggitee ) would recieve an unsigned letter upon his desk, reading the following:
"The death of a father is an impact of no small measure, especially for a now too-early-inherited patriarch. Change is challenge, of course; these next few years will see yourself and your family growing through tear and triumph alike. Forget not within your heart, Charles, that it is the hottest forges and the hardest collision of steel that sharpens the best of blades."

"So too will these times strengthen you and your House."

[!] There would be no other markings on the paper inddicating it's origin.

The Duchess of Adria, amidst a whirlwind of court-related meeting and business, found the time to hear the news of the former Inspect-General's passing. The imperial ordered a dozen bouquets of Kaedreni roses to be delivered to the Darkwood family, so they might be laid at his grave in honor of his service to their Empire and it's justice system.

Owyn would sign the Lorraine as he was on his horse with a few squires, receiving a letter about the death of his cousin; though distantly related. "May you rest in peace, friend and cousin. Watch over your family from the Seven Skies from the moment you enter it, and do say hello to my late wife, aunt and my dear Sebastien."

Adrianna Darkwood née Barclay sat within her room in the Barclay Keep. Once she heard that familiar knock on the door, she lifted her head from she book she was reading and spoke softly to bade him enter, the first time in a while.

"What has happened, mein Liebe?" She asks with a gentle tilt of the head at her husband's dreary countenance.

Once he tells her the news, a simple single tear slips down her cheek though she pats the bedding next to her for him to sit and she wraps a comforting arm around him. "Shh.. Ist okay. Losing dur Vater, und indeed any parent ist hard.. Du will be okay, mein Schatz. He wanted du to go on." The woman whispers to her grieving husband, though internally she wanted to break down and cry as well for he reminded her only of herself.

Sir Charles Galbraith shocked as he heard of the death of his best friend "All my friends are dead. Is this a divine sign of God to let me know that my time to join them in the Seven Skies has come?" he thought for himself before shaking his head
