It is the morning of the Sun’s Smile; Joseph Sarkozic, who was still recovering from wounds that he had suffered during the Battle of Arichsdorf, woke up sickly in his bedchamber. He coughed up blood, extreme amounts of it; such harmed the man enormously, and thus his breath began to slow down to only utter the last few words as he grew paler and paler. He reminisced about his closest friends, family, wife and his children. The time he spent with them was limited; he could not be the father he wanted to be, nor the husband he was to his wife the Princess Imperial. As he did so, he uttered the words.

“May they find their way to GOD again, for that is what we, Orenians stand for. A Holy Empire, with thousands of years of history and prosperous reigns.” - Joseph Sarkozic on his deathbed within the walls of Pompourelia, reminiscing on the first lessons that he was taught by Minuvas Melphestaus.

The breath of the man began to decline; himself, choking on his own blood and so only a few small breaths could be heard for those servants who served Joseph medication to make his wounds less painful. Per verification of the passing of Joseph Sarkozic, the servants who stood near him, were listening if there was no other breath to be heard. His soul, having left his body.

And thus, Joseph Sarkozic; Baron of Pompourelia, Duke-Consort of Westmarch, Knight of the Most Imperial Order of the Lion, Monsignor of Providentia.. Had passed to the next world. A legacy, that has been left behind; yet, he shall watch over them from the Seven Skies. A world more peaceful, with no pressure, no war and no conflict; only peace, with his ancestors, the Exalted and GOD.

As one of her oldest friends passed away, Laurentina couldn't help but to shed a tear. The lady saddled her steed and rode all the way out to Pompourelia as to comfort her best friend, Joseph's wife, Catherine and their many children. "Stay strong, it will be alright. He's in the skies now."

Why had life been so cruel to her?

That very day, her best friend's town had been attacked. Being newly drafted into the Imperial Legion as a medic, she had rode out alongside her husband to Archisdorf's aid. Though they had won the day, her husband had been wounded. But, they had said that he would recover.

Catherine had lingered with the Imperial
Legion in Archisdorf for some time longer, before riding back to Providence that evening... Only to learn that her father had been mutilated by marauders.

She spent the entire evening attending to her father's wounds by his bedside, unaware that her husband had been morally wounded. He was fine. She had seen to it that he was fine. Her colleagues had agreed that he would be fine.

It was very late that evening when Catherine returned to Providence, her uniform bloodstained and her long, strawberry hair unkempt. Doubtless, the children had already been put to bed. She would not tell them of the horrors she had seen.

And so, she entered her bedroom.
"Joseph, I'm home..." She quietly said, her tired gaze training upon her husband. The Vice Chancellor was a busy woman, and it seemed that she had less and less time these days to spend with her family.

Yet there was no response.

"...Joseph?" She tried to get his attention again, her face turning pale as she started over to his bedside.

But the blood... All that blood...

She already knew what had befallen the brave warrior that had been her husband, whom had also been her loyal friend, companion, and one of her closest confidantes for so long. And she wept throughout the night, not leaving the bedside of her childhood friend on what had been the worst day of her life.

Adrian Helen de Sarkozy wept within the isolated halls of the Basilica. He had received the heartbreaking news that his dear brother was dead. He recalled their times together as children, playing games and pranking others. How much the two had diverted in paths. Although this was one if not the most depressing days of all. The Cardinal knew that Joseph rested in the Seven Skies now, with the rest of his deceased kin.

Lorena Theodosia succumbed to her chambers after facing the past month's atrocities. "Your Imperial Highness... There is news- of Lord Joseph." A servant bellowed from outside her chambers, saying such with sorrow and solace. A pitting feeling stretched to her stomach as the news of her brother-in-law's passing spread, a tear formed in the corner of her eye. "Oh GOD... Cat..." The Princess would say knowing the tragedy that would become of her eldest sister. Lorena hurried to go in search of the Duchess of Westmarch, taking her sister into a warm embrace in immediate succession. "I'm so sorry, Cat." She spoke with a consoling voice to the grieving Princess Imperial. The chaos unfolding in the lands of Almaris is becoming quite too much...
