A Midsummer Festival

The Dance of the Golden Sun is a time-honored elvish tradition that dates back to the Pale of Aldemar where the elven midsummer is celebrated amongst dancing and festivities. This festival is held for the changing of seasons for a time of warmth and light upon the realm. It is the start of a time for summer festivities to begin and to enjoy the sunlight before the cold months set in. A grand bonfire is constructed and the summer reaping of seasonal crops commences at the peak of the summer solstice to ensure the most ripe and supple harvest is to be had in the coming autumn. This dance and festival shall take place on the left hand side of the entrance to Fi'andria.

 

I T I N E R A R Y

 SUMMER SOLSTICE DANCE

As the clouds scatter throughout the sky and the sun shines from above, music of the energetic sort will begin from the center of the festival. From there, one shall approach another and offer them to start off the dance. As the music increases in tempo partners swap in opposite directions, the one leading goes left and the one following goes right. This pattern of dance continues until the music ends.

 

GOLDEN APPLE BOBBING

A delightful, lighthearted game in which one collects golden-hued apples with their teeth as they float within the bucket of water. The apples are those that will have been freshly harvested the week of the summer solstice festival to ensure that they are crisp and perfectly buoyant for bobbing. There will be prizes available for those that are successful at the game.

 

MIDSUMMER MARKET

Merchants from all over Malinor and the far reaches of Almaris have gathered at the Dance of the Golden Sun to broadcast their seasonal and limited edition wares, bobs, and baubles to the realms. There will be several stalls from merchants around the world which have gathered for the festival. 

 

SUMMER SATURNALIA

After the enjoyment of the games, dancing, and markets, the solstice festival shall conclude with a grand feast and what they wish to accomplish in the coming season written on a piece of paper and tossed into the bonfire. The festivities shall consist of summer-related foods and refreshments for the summertime. This will take place at the end of the festival where the full moon will be in view and telescopes shall be set up to watch the lunar eclipse that will be occuring at this time.
